I never comment on UA-cam, but I couldn't not say thank you. I just found your channel today. You are a breath of fresh air. Your words have brought this issue of clutter and tidy homes back into perspective for me. I'm a mom of 8 living in 1200 sq ft, so I'm sure you can imagine my challenges (and discouragement!), but my heart needed the conviction of this plain spoken truth. Thank you for being bold to speak so clearly about God's sovereignty in every aspect of our lives.
Oh friend! I was on the struggle bus in our 1200 sq ft home with 3 kids, I can relate, but I can imagine those challenges are far greater for you. I will say this though, in our case more space didn’t help, getting rid of our stuff did. So glad you found the channel and thanks for watching!
Very well thought out video! Got me to thinking....I'm not sure if this is a good example, but one of my beliefs that I am trying to break myself from (I'm 80% there) is that "I can save my kids so much money and time by saving 'x, y, and z' for each of the seven. They're going to love my old furniture, dishes, blah, blah, blah" When in truth, they each have to make their own way and they do NOT want my grandma's or mom's old stuff. Ugh. I love how you bring Scripture into your videos! Thanks for the time/energy it takes to do them!
I think that’s a great example! I’ve had lots of those conversations with my mom. It helps to talk about it and to remember that the relationships are the important part, not the stuff. 💕
You speak the truth. Our clutter is there because of an underlying belief system. Sometimes it's because I valued time with people over purging useless stuff.
Marybeth, this must have been the message I needed to hear repeated, because I read the same sort of thing last week in a book about decluttering and organizing. I'm bookmarking this video to listen to it again, as often as I need, as I'm decluttering. The pyramid example along with your explanation really clears things up for me. I'm so glad that God works through you. Enjoy your holiday weekend. Thanks for what you do!🥰
@@TheAtWhatCostBlog, no problem. It was: "Organizing For Life: Declutter Your Mind to Declutter Your World" by Sandra Felton (2007). This isn't the only one that I've read lately, but this one included spiritual perspective, which I appreciate. I know God didn't intend for us to be "cluttered," but He knows what we are experiencing. He continually provides answers, we just need to listen and heed. Thank you for being His vessel.
Mary Beth, this is an interesting relationship between our worldview and our actions of cluttering. One common belief is that our items are more useful/valuable than they really are. Also, our needs vs wants are so distorted nowadays. Thank you for making us dig deeper into our belief system - getting to the root of the issue is what is needed.
Thank you for this; it has made me think hard about why I do some of the things I do, but also why some other people in my life do what they do with their clutter. Always a blessing to watch you. God bless you and your family.
Great insight. Challenged me to consider how my worldview/beliefs about decluttering and keeping a clean home have driven my behavior to deprioritize other areas that quite frankly should be a higher priority. Time to rethink my worldview. Thank you. ❤
I'm a bit older than you, Mary Beth...and the whole toy thing is a thing of the past. My daughter is the only child on BOTH sides of the family, so you can imagine the volume of toys she had! I remember distinctly all the toy commercials throwing in that tag line: "Collect them all!". Then children weren't satisfied with the 1 or 2 they had...they were on the hunt for ALL the other ones...and they didn't even realize why: marketing.
When you started talking about decluttering and apologetics I was sure you were going to mention the "chew & spit" that Mama Bear Apologetics talks about...really good podcast/blog/books by the way if you're looking for more apologetics content!
It's kind of like finding the balance between storing up extra for emergencies and trusting God. Having some extra is wisdom, hoarding supplies is now not trusting.
Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that! Basically what I was trying to get at is that what we believe about our stuff will translate to what we do with/about our stuff.

You are the only you tuber I listen to and think “I need to write that in my Bible”. Thank you for always putting out meaningful content ❤
I’m so glad! I always look forward to your sweet comments! 💕

You are so welcome! Thanks for watching!
I love the way you explained worldview. I could have used that with my students when i taught high school! That pyramid is such a good graphic.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks so much for watching! 💕

You can do it!
As always fantastic content. So much packed into this 14 minutes. Keep up the great work.
Thanks so much! 💕
Marybeth, I really enjoyed this today. You gave me some food for thought about an area or two that I need to bring more in line. xx
Wonderful! Thanks so much for watching! 💕

I totally remember those collect them all days and ugh, so glad my kiddos have not fallen prey to it.
This has been so good. Thank you. It has given me a lot to think about

That is a great resource! Love that book!

Amen! That is such a good point!
Hos-tet-ler
😆 thank you…clearly on the struggle bus with the names.
I usually love your content but this really doesn’t make any sense to me.
