First Major Issue | Wrong Spark Plug Use | Benelli TRK 502

  • So my bike faces its first major issue. The stock spark plug by Benelli is NGK CR8E, and I wanted to upgrade it to Iridium Spark plugs. The corresponding model is CR8EIX, but i got deceived by the shop and installed CPR6EA model. The 6 series are hot plugs meant for normal motorcycles, but TRK being a performance bike, requires colder spark plugs of 8 series.
    I have learnt a hard lesson today as a Rider ! We got to be very sure and well read or informed about replacing components. #ngksparkplugs #benelli #automobile #sparkplug #ignitioncoil #

    As a rider, what do you prefer? Long rides with smooth experience or short runs with maximum power?
    What was your motivation to change the original spark plug in place of the iridium one?

      Long rides anytime ! Iridium spark plugs are known to last easily more than 25000kms against normal ones which are changed every 12000km as per OEM manual.
      Plus, using iridiums generally deliver more power due to better ignition quality.

    How was the performance with iridium spark plug ?

      Till the time ignition coil started burning out, I felt a remarkable spike in performance esp the initial pick up. Throughout all RPM ranges, the bike appeared to be giving more power, and overtaking was much better.
