    Oh man, Mox to the rescue. No tabs, no video lessons, just covers out there of this great classic Aussie tune. Until now. Needed this today and here it is! A million thanks mate!

      Thanks Saltydog888! When our lead singer suggested this tune and played it for us, all of these memories flooded back. I hadn't heard it much on the radio since the 90s, possibly because I stopped listening to the radio in the 90s, but I digress. I thought it would be one of those songs that a few people would recognize and appreciate, yet consistently killed when we played it. I miss that band and I miss playing this tune and yeah, Angels never get old!

      @@moxxichannel5950 Cheers mate great story! I haven’t played for years and just bought a Strat (had a nice Jap strat in the 80’s - sold it for drinking money for a trip to Thailand😖😖) and a Spark Go. Having an absolute blast scouring the tube finding gems like yours and all the other 70’s and 80’s Aussie rock songs to learn. Sure beats lifting and lowering the needle on the turntable!

    Thanks moxxi there has been a couple of other attempts over the years, but this is spot on. Great Work. Are you using a pedal or amp only?
    I see a mention of Chisel how about the orignal when the war is over solo from the early eighties.

      Thanks Darryl! I appreciate your comment!
      One day I'll get around to Cold Chisel! :) I put this on because my band is playing it and I knew that my brain would probably forget it during our down time - and sure enough, I had to watch this video to teach myself how to play the damn solo again. In this video I'm using a Fender Blues Jr. III, a Wampler Sovereign distortion pedal, TC HyperGravity Compressor and if there is any delay, it's a Donner Yellow Fall.

    Mate. Really good lesson. Video/TAB/voice together is excellent. You need to know what you have started here. Now go and get yourself busy on a few other Aussie classics. May I refer to TAB riff No. 5 in Solo. If you see a video of Rick playing this phrase he uses the box extended from Em scale. A small difference but I find it easier to play into 17b of riff No. 6. Anyway more power to you. You are now expected, I said expected, to complete the full works of their classic set. Ha Ha Ha.

    If you're not very good at bends you're gonna have a little trouble sliding beyond the 22nd fret.

    • @moxxichannel5950
      @moxxichannel5950  3 роки тому

      I have a Spinal Tap Strat. Frets go up to 23. But you’re right, that one is going to be tough, but bends are a tool that guitarists need to learn to wield. They aren’t easy and require countless hours to perfect.

    You play well, but! If you just play constantly at half speed without talking, we can slow it down or speed it up in settings. All the jabbering makes it boring a bit. Other than that i would sub. Ill sub and see if you do. 😉

      But UA-cam pays me by the word! Thanks for the sub, but I actually don't do guitar videos anymore, so you might want to rethink that! But I do appreciate your constructive criticism though. Thanks!

      If it was the one I saw it wasn't accurate - and left a few parts out including the second solo and certainly didn't come with an awesomely created PDF file for your convenience.

  • @ZEGO24x
    @ZEGO24x 7 років тому +1

    Hate to say it, but this isnt actually the correct way to play this at all! Go study Rick Brewster, and more will be revealed!
    I might even have a tab of this solo somewhere still - I know I've done it before...

    • @moxxichannel5950
      @moxxichannel5950  7 років тому

      ZEGO24x There might be a couple of things that might not be exact, but to suggest this isn't the "correct way to play this at all" is more incorrect than what I've done here. I'm certain there are a few discrepancies, or maybe I play some passages up the neck (technically they have to be the same notes) but come on, you're really gonna be "that guy"? Please enlighten me with the correct way. I'll await a link to your video lesson.

    • @ZEGO24x
      @ZEGO24x 7 років тому

      Look, I'm usually the last person to be "That Guy" - but the Angels are/were very near and dear to me, and so as a result, I knew every damn note they played. Kudos to you for uploading Aussie rock - it's not often you see that kinda stuff - and it's great to see! But I'm also a firm believer that if people do Instructionals - then they really need to be as accurate as possible... I'm not giving you shit honestly...

    • @moxxichannel5950
      @moxxichannel5950  7 років тому

      I always appreciate doing things the right way, so I won't argue there. As I said the original solo might have been played up or down the neck in a couple of spots, but I learned it by ear (literally as I only have one that works), tabbing it out as I went. The notes are 99.9% correct and if I played my version over the solo without showing you WHERE I was playing, it's doubtful you'd notice. I guess I take exception with your first comment which is really just kind of a "know-it-all" statement without any proof on your part. Look, I know It's easy to throw up a comment on YT, condemning and/or critiquing someone's efforts so I'll maintain my original sentiment, send me the link to your video guitar lesson and if it's correct, I'll link to it from this vid. I think that's fair. Thanks!

    • @jocelyn5442

      Well Moxxi, it's a very good job you did, and you're clearly right, (i wouldn't be able to do what you did) , and thanks to you, i find all the notes for this solo, but zego isn't wrong neither, if you played some notes down on your neck, it makes them sound more "crunchy", I think he was thinking about things like that when he said "the correct way". Anyway, it's a great job, and you helped me a lot, thanks again !
      This song is in my opinion a jewel of the aussie rock, and more, of all the rock, i needed to know how to play it :)

    • @moxxichannel5950
      @moxxichannel5950  7 років тому

      Thanks! I'm glad it helped. Certainly there are other many ways to play the same riffs and yeah, playing up and down the neck might be accurate. I personally don't notice a tonal difference but that could also be related to the fact that I'm 100% deaf in one ear and I've lost some of that accuracy since it happened. But in any case, I'm appreciative that you took a moment to comment and that you see both sides of the both Zego's and my "argument". :)
