I’m not sure what’s got me more flabbergasted: how the everyone has swallowed Southgate’s words without much pushback on his defence of Holland and his favourites in general, or how fans can’t figure out if Ben White is rejecting England or Southgate.
Southgate has totally mismanaged this situation. Hopefully, with time, it will receive the proper perspective and scrutiny.
It's the first team I've ever seen a player praised for turning down england. It's really strange. I think it's because of the not so smart fans who dislike southgate

Benny Blanco is a leader at the back.
He's that guy who acts stoic and tough but deep down cares about the things/people closest to him the most. A typical Kimi Raikkonen

Ben white is somewhat of a mystery (outside of Arsenal).
Cue 1 minute about how he's a strong willed, competitive, dedicated, adaptable player and person who does not shy away from hardship.
The only "mystery" is why Southgate is trying to paint him as a weak willed brat for standing up for himself, and not willing to accept bad treatment from an assistant coach. Start Steve Holland at right back, there, problem solved.

Played through injury in the second half of last season, the most important stretch and held his own despite the struggles around him. He’s a top player.

Arteta said he knew why Ben left the England squad during the WC and has his full support. Rumours have it Ben doesn't like the atmosphere in England's dressing room and chose not to be a part of it

Yeah I don’t know why the athletic seems to have forgot it was them that put out a bunch of negative press about White.
It was even them that said he only goes by Benjamin and hates being called Ben yet every Arsenal player that has come out talking about him recently refers to him as Ben.
It’s a really weird obsession with him, maybe he’s done something to offend someone at the athletic.
Ben whites had to play nearly every minute this season with Timber and tomiysu’s injuries, despite the fact he’s been carrying a knee injury most of the year, and it’s his third straight year of consistent Arsenal performances, but this past week has been most media attention he’s gotten for mostly made up narratives without substance, real shame

The way I think about it, he's one if not the best right back in the league. He can do all three of the modern full back roles in the same game. He can form part of a back three, invert forward into midfield and overlap. Ooo, almost forgot he's a centre back who can play as a defensive midfielder too.

Arteta has put his stamp on the team to the point where Ben is more able to flourish as a more advanced full back.
At England, Southgate often reverts to a Back 5, and there is often less attacking emphasis with Kane's abilities at build-up.
Arteta will turn Ben into an attacking machine soon.
I hope Southgate continues to coach England so that White can help us get the pl trophy. He's the defender we need and I'm happy if he doesn't go get injured like trent 😂
