Alaska has a good management plan. If fish counts are down the rules will change and snagging won't be allowed. Snagging helps people put fish in the freezer for winter.

We only fish the channels on the flats because it is so much easier and productive. Think of it - offshore the fish are all spread out whereas in the channels they’re concentrated in a 10’ channel with only one way to go - upstream. Why chase them when they’ll voluntarily come to your feet?

@@NuttyNu I busted out laughing when you forgot your fillet mat!! I, too, fillet out on the flats so I don’t have to carry so much weight back and it reminded me of the time I forgot mine after we had both limited.

legal here as long as its on saltwater and not FRESH water, river, creeks etc

Question: what fishing line ( pound test) and hook size do you recommend for this type of fishing??
30#+ line (esp. braided plus leader), any of the pre-rigged snagging weighted trebles sold locally will do but generally smaller for reds/pinks, medium for silvers and larger for kings
All of our set up here are plain 20lb mono line with 10/0 snagging treble hooks. Nothing fancy required.

Love the videos man! I was just in Seward this last Tuesday and was a couple shy of a limit. Are you usually trying to fish the incoming high tide a few hours before and after or something different?
I've always had good luck when the tide is about to go out or about to come in, try aiming for those durations.

any salmon pole is fine, nothing fancy needed. 20lb MONO line and 10/ treble weight hooks. grab at least 10, as you'll lose some
