Beddgelert Snowdonia is beautiful set in the mountains and dog friendly unlike portmeion spelt wrong it's not dog friendly at all and cost even more than the beautiful town down the road with great beaches and great chippies
As this video began, I was thinking it looked so much like what I remembered from the TV show "The Prisoner" and sure enough, several minutes into it, Simon mentioned the show !!!! I never knew the show used a real place -- I thought it was purely a set purpose built for the show. What a wonderful place to visit; it's like stepping out of the real world and entering a place in an alternate universe.
Come know. That’s the worse kept secret. 👍.
Sorry to disappoint you but quite a bit of the prisoner was film at the then MGM studios Elstree. That studio disappeared some years ago !
I have to tell you again what a beautiful job you do with these videos. Your narration reflects fantastic research & I know it must take you a long time editing. Believe me, it's well worth the effort and does not go unappreciated. Well done from California!!
Thank you so much for the kind words!
@@MemorySeekersyes you really did a beautiful job here
Portmeirion has a beautiful appealing landscape and estuary
What an amazing man and what a legacy to leave behind for others to enjoy.
My favourite village. I have painted it on a 3ft wide canvas.
wow. definitely not what I would have ever imagined to be in Wales! time to add it to the bucket list
We had to skip Portmeirion Village due to time constraints on our trip to Wales. Always regretted it.
But I got to go with you guys! Thank you.😃
Next time!
I was fortunate enough to stay in this village several years. It is a magical place❤
Visited portmeirion last September, the weather was blue sky all day . we sent a couple of photos to our friends and they thought we`d taken a day trip to Italy .. had a photo blown up to 800x500 mm on our wall ..well worth a day or two visit . there it a small motorhome site there too ...
We too were there in September, no such luck for us!
A lovely video with lots of information…I’m loving these videos in Wales…Thank you
'Never been there - never will be , but my spirit lives in Portmierion .
They'd never get The Information , but i'd dive right in to life at The Village - they'd never get me to leave !
👍 Good Video 👌
I absolutely love your videos. I have never managed to get to Portmeirion and I wish I had. I now live in the US and I deeply miss the so much about Britain, including the British countryside and all the architectural wonders it holds. Wales is amazing and your videos at least allow me to live vicariously and see those things I missed 🙂 Thank you!
Thank for watching and the lovely comment. Come back one day! 😊
A wonderful experience of artistic genius with compassionate feeling for aesthetic beauty and a golden heart to preserve and create this masterpiece, Clough Williams Ellis.
Interesting with lots of info 😊 another fantastic video 😍
WOW !! FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN WALES IS AMAZING! I'M ALREADY THINKING ABOUT MY NEXT TRIP THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS LOVELY TOUR
Hope you do visit!
Great video, thank you! I'm a fan of The Prisoner and have stayed here several times. In the evening, when the day visitors have gone, it really is a magical place.
Very unique. Thanks for sharing ❤
What a charming place! I have a very heavy Portmeirion bowl with patterns of fruit. It has sat on my kitchen counter for decades. Many of the buildings remind me of the old storybook villages and Pirates of the Caribbean scenes at the original Disneyland in Anaheim. Hearing how many architectural pieces were saved and incorporated there, I'm so happy. What a terrific life's work and legacy. Wow! As a child I was allowed to stay up and watch The Prisoner, as my parents thought it was edifying. I think I barely understood what was going on, but liked it. I really need to watch it again one of these days.
Really great video. This means that Wales has climbed high on our travel list. 😊Thank you very much for the interesting information you provide.
Tommy from N.Germany
Am i the only one who gets an eerie feeling about this place?
Nope, I'm here from a reddit thread about creepy UK places lol
That's weird I did not get that vibe from this place at all.
There’s a reason why they set The Prisoner there. It’s a mysterious place.
This video is well worth rewatching!
I think you should release a Blu-ray of UK's charming small towns series, it's good production quality with music and narration.
That was great fun too watch. Thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it
Wonderful video 😊. As always your presentation is top notch and Portmeirion is unique. Thank you
Thank you very much!
Fabulous place, I've visited many times.😊
I think this has to to be one of your very best videos up there with the Bucklers Hard one about the Beaulieu area. So much information and if I may say superb locations . This is one to watch again as you can't absorb all the information in one4 viewing. A rain day video when curled up with a nice hot drink. Well done boys.
Thank you so much Maureen so glad you enjoyed it! 😊
What a lovely place and as usual you gave us great footage and lovely background music. Thankyou for taking us exploring with you, cheers Cheryl 🙂
Absolutely fascinating. New to me! As an American your vlogs are perfect. Informative and enjoyable. Thankyou
This is one of my dream locations since I'm a HUGE The Prisoner fan!!! Love the video!
Wonderful video and what a lovely place in general, Thank you.
Special Town Indeed. It seens to be designed for a movie. Great video as usual.
I am totally gobsmacked. Clough certainly had an eye for beauty. The area is stunning. Thanks for taking me along. Please take care
Yes indeed, what a legacy he has left us!
A Beautiful place.

Portmeirion is everything you said, it is wonderful and must have been delightful to visit. Clough Williams-Ellis' vision is inspiring and you presented it with dignity and respect. Thanks for sharing this place with us.
What a magical atmosphere and look to the place - just beautiful! 😍
Fabulous in every way and you guys captured it brilliantly!

Glad you like them!
Por fin, que maravilla de programa. Gracias 🌎💖
Apparently it’s quite lively at night I want to stay there in one of the hotels beautiful I’m in England only been to Wales 🏴 once 🏴
I really commend you for this excellent presentation, stunning shots & overview. You have somehow captured the mystery & beauty of Portmeirion. Thank God for men who are visionaries like C.W. Ellis ❤
Thank you very much!
What a fabulous place
What a beautiful magical place. Loved the colors & designs of the builfings.
Quite a special, unique place!
Watched the prisoner in my youth and always wanted to go there. I’m 66 next month and still haven’t been. What a beautifully crafted video with excellent narration. Thank you.
You still have plenty of time to make it! ☺
@@MemorySeekers 😂
My wife and I spent 2 nights there. We stayed above the Book Store. Very Beautiful and rtealy nice when all the visitors left for the day.
Did you go out of the village at night or stay and eat in the hotel. I am in two minds as to whether I would want to stay an night or two as you are a bit restricted to where you can go and eat when the place closes? I like the idea of it being almost empty but wondered what the food and drink situation was like on your trip?
Beautiful.
Portmeirion is in our bucket list....beautiful village. Beautiful flowers. Wow! Looks like japanese garden
What a brilliant episode. I love Portmerion and have visited it many times with my father (gone many years) and my own children.
Thank you for watching, I am sure it brought back so wonderful memories.
Always worth watching
Wonderful video! Thank you
What a fascinating village. Thanks for the tour.
Thank you for making this video. It has been on my bucket list for a while….and it still looks pretty here in the rain, so will definitely visit.
Love your videos and all the interesting commentary you provide. Thank you for them all so far and looking forward to many more.
Thank You Simon & Will so very much for your series on Wales. I can't tell you enough how great this has been for my mental health right now as I'm so very burnt out from work. This is has been a very difficult school year. We were nearly closed down permanently then the Superintendent rescued us by having us redesigned as an ESL HS for migrants. I love the fact that Portmeirion is, architecturally speaking, a collection of upcycled and refurbished buildings and other architectural elements. THANK YOU WILLIAM ELLIS CLOUGH!!!What genius!!! LOVE IT. Worth the year's savings to just spend it in the area. Cheers from NYC!!!
Hello, I am so pleased to read that the videos has helped you in this way. I hope that the situation improves for you. Take Care.
You two are talented narrators and videographers! I happen to have a tea pot and canister of Portmeirion pottery. Thank you for presenting this lovely Welsh village! 🦋 🍄🌼
Excellent video 😍🌹👏👏👏
Excellent video, one of the places I'd love to eventually visit. BTW: I was expecting a sign-off of "Be seeing you" at the end of the video.
Possibly your best work yet fantastic filming thank you
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it.
A special environment and excellently filmed with a beautiful story.
Thank you !!
Be seeing you.
Great video thanks 😊
You’re welcome 😊
Great video. I'd love to stay here and just soak it all up.
👍🏼💚😁Very beautiful village .
Really loved this episode. It's been nearly 40 years since I visited. As a kid I loved the Prisoner, second only to the Avengers.
As always, thank you for presenting top notch videos that are second to none. I will be looking forward to the next one.
So glad we were able to stir the memories, and thank you for the kind words! 😊
Thanks so much for your beautiful videos. Obviously, Wales has been highly under-rated on most travelers' to-do lists. Portmeirion almost reminds me of an Epcot Center village in Walt Disney World. 😊
So glad I clicked so fast!❤😊
very nice
Lindo video
Hello from Montana! We watch you from our TV so can't comment like we'd like to. We love what you do! We appreciate your calm approach. We love travel but we are older and can't do as much as we'd like. Thank you for traveling and taking us along!❤
Thank you for taking the time to message! So lovely to hear from you in Montana, and wonderful to know that you are enjoying our travels around the world! Watching on the TV is really the best way to watch! Hope you enjoy the rest of the Wales series. All the best Simon & Will
Very late watching this but well worth it.what a treat.and what a wonderfull place.a clever man with great vision.don't think i would make it on the walking side but youve shown everything.thank you realy enjoyable.
An absolutely lovely film gents, we stayed in the hotel for 3 nights in July last year (room, food and service were first class) celebrating my wife's 60th birthday, you're right about residents having access to the village once the day visitors have left, it's so peaceful when there's only residents in the village and a great way to walk off dinner before heading to the bar 🥃🍷
We went out for the daytime while there, but on our return as I like to swim I took advantage of the residents swimming pool, I found it a bit disconcerting having the day visitors gawping at you through the railings🤣🤣.
Very interesting to hear you stayed. Sounds like a wonderful visit.
What a feast for the eyes! A great video-you never disappoint!🙂
Thank you 😋
Thank you very much for showing Portmeirion so beautifully and thoroughly. You took me somewhere I can never visit in a clear and unobtrusive manner, providing views and interesting information. Absolutely beautiful place in a wonderful country. You have my subscription and my gratitude from New Zealand.
Glad you enjoyed it! Welcome! 😊
Always beautiful and interesting vídeos!!👏👏👏I love all them!❤️👩🏻🇧🇷
Thank you so much 😀
Thank you for a most interesting and well produced documentary about this fascinating little village, it took me time traveling back to September 1967. Newly married and living with my in-laws, my new father in-law told me we could watch this new show (he was also liked Danger Man) he lasted two episodes. I watched it again when we moved to Canada on TVO and of course bought the dvd's when they came out and still watch random episodes when I want to revisit. I did finally get to visit the village at Portmeirion in the fall of 2019 on a visit back to the UK. I found it absolutely enchanting. It only took me fifty two years to get there, :o)
Another great video guys
Really enjoying your North Wales adventures 😊❤
Hope you've had a good weekend
Morgs Jo and Boo 🐕 ❤
Thanks so much! Yes it was a quiet one in preparation for a wee trip this weekend to film a new location!
Que gran cuidad y de hermosos paisajes , parece que no fuera Gales .
Un video que reconforta el alma .
Saludos
De hecho, en realidad no se parece en nada a Gales, pero se ha convertido en un tesoro del país por su singularidad.
it's so pretty -- i'm starting the video again : )
❤❤❤
Thanks!
Thank you so much for supporting our videos. ☺
@@MemorySeekers You do fantastic work. Narrative and visual. Your Chartwell visit was extraordinary.
👀👌🤗 AWESOME VIBES. ENJOYED WATCHING IT. THANKS FOR SHARING. 🍷🐙🏅👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it
Lovely video, im going to visit for the day in July, so this was a good insight into what i will see.
Glad it was helpful!
💜💜💜💜💜
I have often wondered if you have a writing background as your narrations are so elegant and so have many enchanting turns of phrases! This is such a unique and beautiful village that I would love to visit, with such a wonderful detailed back story. Thanks for sharing!
No background in writing, I think it has improved actually since we started making the videos. The need to tell a story write a script and try and capture the viewers interest. ☺ Thank you for mentioning it, I had never really thought about it. 😊
❤
❤❤👍🤩
Hello Simon / Will loved this one Portmeirion has always been on my list and staying a night would be the way to do it . Thank you .
I am in to minds on staying the night. I am not sure if it might be a bit creepy and you are so out of the way, you are stuck with just the hotel for dinner? 🤔😊
@@MemorySeekers the big thing for me would be to re live The Prisoner I loved the TV show . Patrick McGoo was a 1st cousin of my Father I never met him unfortunately but my Father knew him well when they were young.
@@shaunmckenna1923 Amazing! I can see why you liked the show.
Imagine "ROVER"... you can never escape "THE VILLAGE!"
Really delightful, you do an excellent job, we think, of capturing the charm and uniqueness of these special places. Do remember The Prisoner & wondering at how that could be a real place, rather than a set! Does look amazing - who owns it now? Cheers, guys.
It is still owned by the Clough Williams-Ellis Foundation.
Portmeirion: Be seeing you...⚪
Beautiful video, but the music was too loud. There was really no need for any music since the bits without music were amazing.
I may be wrong, but I think a classic episode of Doctor Who was filmed here in the mid 70s.
Interesting! Quite possible
Just looked it up. It was the 1976 story The Masque of Mandragora. :)@@MemorySeekers
This is "The Village" Iam number 2 you are number 6.
Did you film Number 6's cottage? It was larger on the inside than it was on the outside, like a Tardis.
I think the cottage was the shop that had all the trinkets from the show. I didn't film inside as it was very busy. Certainly the same size inside as out! 😂
I should have said it appeared to be bigger on the inside.
Do people live in this village? Enjoy your videos
Its a good question, but I don't think so anymore... quite possibly in the past. Hopefully someone will know!
Another one of my go to places i know i will get shot down but why do we feel the need to go out of this country
For us it is to experience different cultures, foods and other beautiful places around the world.
❤❤❤
