Peter Cook. Unsurpassed. Britains finest comedian by miles. A complete genius. There will never be another to match him. He should have won numerous awards for his performances here.
"...she's an errant child" 😂😂😂. "I were just a lad! I went home and i read a book" This ENTIRE (4 part?) performance is superb imo. He was hilarious. A comedy genuis.
I remember this going out. His other character was the nerdy metal detector. What a show! I was at college with a guy like Peter, comic repartee and improv skills but this talent comes with an eventual price for them
Alan Latchley - an early advocate of DEI - "get them all down to EXACTLY the same level..." and, "Dare to fail". How to get to the bottom with pride and dignity. (as Jaguar is presently modelling for the world in their Teletubbie, Bud Light manner.)
He was a good monologuist but a poor actor bc he could not bear to share the spotlight. Even with Dud you could see Cook asserting his superiority, treading on the little bloke's line and trying to make him crack up. He was fine with a partner as inert as Anderson is here (all Anderson does is nod and say 'yes... yes') but with real actors Cook was at sea. That is why he failed in movies and sitcoms. Very funny in flashes, but no stamina and little capacity for self-criticism. Peter Sellers was like him as a cartoonish portrayer of characters, but Sellers could sustain a caricaturish impression longer, and could react as well as act. Cook always seemed to be in a bubble. And boy did he recycle his material; in his 40s he was still reusing stuff he had dreamed up as a schoolboy.
Cook was a Spurs fan, so he was used to hope rising and being dashed😂 As the main owner of Private Eye, did he contribute to the saga of Neasden FC by ace soccer reporter E.I. Addio?
I disagree - his quick interjections hold the moment - otherwise Peter would die a death on stage. There's a hidden art to a great set up that still mystifies me. In my next book called "The Art of the Set Up" we try explore this but not very well.
Every line from Cook is comical, his genius is yet to be surpassed or even equalled .

i remember when i first saw it i was almost in tears the alan latchley character, my stomach was aching, comic genius
We still miss you Pete
Peter Cook is looking so well here. I miss his brilliant comedy
"Football is about nothing unless it's about something and what it's about is football."
A superbly well observed character. A sort of mash-up of Brian Clough, Bob Paisley and Bobby Robson.
The three M's. Motivation Motivation Motivation !!!!!!!!!!!!!
So glad he got this out, along with the 3 other characters, before he passed away.
A real reminder of the absolute comedy machine that he was.
The legendary Alan Latchley. So much wisdom. I mean, for a Scunny man. Obviously. A lot of wisdom and heart, considering he was from Scunny.
You sound like a Hartleypool man, yourself.
Brilliant . Missed but not forgotten
Ahhhhhh jeeezzzzzzuz, was on the floor laughing to this! What a genius
Hilarious..Peter was superb in everything he did!
Sheer brilliance!
I will be revisiting this comic genius 😂
Part of his best work ever..thanks
An absolute genius 👏

No words for the talent of Peter Cook!
The best manager we never had
One of the greats
Incredibly well observed.
Wow this is from 1993 , 30 years ago. Where does the time go? This was repeated on Channel 4 as a tribute shortly after Cook's death in January 1995.
The 3 Ms. Classic Cook.
Pure and unadulterated genius.
I remember this going out. His other character was the nerdy metal detector. What a show! I was at college with a guy like Peter, comic repartee and improv skills but this talent comes with an eventual price for them
I uploaded the metal detector one too (they are all up there)
Great stuff
Also the Rock star that had been to the Henry Ford clinic
Yes there were four characters. The metal-detectorist, the judge, the football manager and the aging rock-star. All quite wonderful.
Never to bee forgotten. 😅😅😅😅😅😅
It’s an obvious send up of Graham Taylor.. and brilliantly done
Absolutely 💯 genius! 😅😅😂
One word brilliant!!!
And when the games over….. get em in again.
Peter Cook for England manager.
Paul Whitehouse has 'borrowed' a lot of stuff from Cook
7:32 catch that smile :)
he just knew that he'd really done a special sketch again
Alan Latchley - an early advocate of DEI - "get them all down to EXACTLY the same level..." and, "Dare to fail". How to get to the bottom with pride and dignity. (as Jaguar is presently modelling for the world in their Teletubbie, Bud Light manner.)
Best sketch eva
Peron or Braun?
Beautiful, it would be perfect/truthful if you didn't know.... : )
Anderson reminds me of a xenomorph emerging from a fur coat.
and people say cook was a bad actor

Why have you misspelled Clive?
In all these years I have never noticed 😄.
I have just corrected them..
Thanks
Rely on rebounds … 😁😁😁
🐐
Cook was a Spurs fan, so he was used to hope rising and being dashed😂
As the main owner of Private Eye, did he contribute to the saga of Neasden FC by ace soccer reporter E.I. Addio?
Alan Latchley look's a lot like Donald Trump.
Clive Anderson was an awful host!!

He really wasn't
@@painterly_porcine262 correct
@@painterly_porcine262why don't you try to explore it well?
That's a bad bad take.
What a great he was
