This only even made me even more scared if psychopaths/sociopaths especially those who cant even feel emotions and not know right or wrong and only see people like toys, you can never trusts anyone these days even those with a cute face. This even reminded me of those Korean mangas where the character reincarnates into a novel and the original lead is actually the bad guy.
Even if the sisters got kicked out and lost their mom, at least they were finally free from that house and madwomam, but I feel bad for the count's son and his subjects.

Yes, I would fear she would kill again and again, starting with her new husband.

Just watched the 1st episode and it had me hooked from start to finish.
Honestly it was masterfully done even when the reveal at the end was already known to the audience, save for maybe 1 detail.
At first I thought the doll was possessed and was influencing Kyoko (Cinderella in this anime), or that more interestingly - was just in her head and represented the small part of her mind that was rational and “normal”, given how the doll cried at Kyoko’s fathers passing while Kyoko couldn’t understand why she had to feel sad.
Then that got disproven when the doll just turned out to be evil anyway, but holy shit the ballroom scene was honestly incredible showing how Kyoko sees everyone and anyone as just a doll for her to play with, with her being the only one to standout in her vibrant red dress as everyone else is blue and dulled, with even thier faces gone, symbolising how Kyoko views them.
Can’t wait to watch the rest of these if they’re as good as the first one

I like the idea of the Cinderella fairytale we believe in is in actuality a fabrication that Cinderella herself made to garner sympathy and control others, like she wrote a history that benefits her. It’s almost like a commentary on how fairy tales and history are altered to be more appealing to the general public. Similar in how Disney, in reality, changed Grimm’s Fairytales like Little Mermaid to be more joyful and magical when in fact they were dark and had mature messages.
But besides that food for thought, this episode added nothing to the Cinderella character nor was as smart as it thinks it is. Cinderella didn’t feel smart but more that everyone around her was dumb.

Random add on to that idea: in folklore academia the Grimms are noted for making the fairy tales they recorded even more brutal and violent then they already were. They also had a tendency to add Christian elements and morals that weren't there originally. That's not to say the "original" oral stories were fluffy. They definitely meant to teach about the realities of the world, but they weren't so... grim. lol

Imagine the father faked his death, then investigated in the backgrounds what happened to her daughter, like something is wrong it her. Don't mind me coping for the other characters haha

I thought she was a sociopath. I mean, what I have learned from an episode of "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" with regard to her is that I have the suspicion that she is overly facile in her speech (perhaps not), she deceives, she maneuvers situations to her advantage, and she exhibits a slight degree of self-centeredness. She even fooled the servants!
I would fear she would kill again and again, starting with her new husband. And before he died, her dad was in total denial! My interest lies in understanding the contemporary views held by psychiatrists regarding the potential for curing sociopathy. I wonder if they share the perspective that something like this statement holds true: "If we are unable to keep these young killers imprisoned for their entire lives, there is a high likelihood that they will commit further acts of murder." And...
"...Do not label these kids sociopaths. But that doesn't change who or what they are. They are born that way, and we must take all the steps necessary to protect society from these immoral predators."
In my opinion, psychopaths or sociopaths should be subject to incarceration and the death penalty, just like any other criminal. Do those views make me wicked?

Because their mother was weak and they were afraid of what Kiyoko would do to her...

They did try to leave, but Kiyoko hinted that she was going to do something to the mother “you’re really going to leave mother like that??” That was all that they needed to know that she was going to do something horrible

This whole first episode was so pointless imo. Like, okay, we have a spin on the story but why? Why is she randomly evil and playing a long con of several years?
There is never a payoff and the doll being alive never made a lick it difference to the story.

    • @casualfanatic4217

The reason for Cinderella’s actions is simply she’s a psychopath. She takes joy in tormenting and manipulating people for her amusement, like the dolls she sees them as. The doll being alive is apparently her imagination, it’s just her talking to herself. And the payoff is the reveal of what she’s done and that she has new dolls to play with.
But yeah, this episode was shallow and pointless. It’s just a “what if Cinderella was evil” and nothing deeper. There’s no reason for her motives other than “it’s fun and evil” and it feels less like she’s smarter than everyone else and more everyone is just dumb. I like the idea of the fairytale we believe in is in actuality a fabrication that Cinderella made to garner sympathy and control others, like she wrote a history that benefits her. It’s almost a commentary on how fairy tales and history are altered to be more appealing to the general public. Similar to how Disney actually changed Grimm’s Fairytales like Little Mermaid to be more joyful and magical when in fact they were dark and had mature messages.
But besides the concepts, the execution of this episode was poor and didn’t add anything to the Cinderella character
