Racing the Fool's Gold Sprint Enduro - Georgetown OHV (2024)

This District 36 enduro was a rough one. Many people got flat tires, crashed off the trail, damaged their bikes, ran out of water, or ran low or out of gas. That said, this course is one of the best all-around enduro courses, with scenic singletrack, real risk-factor, and lots of technical riding. I had my fair share of problems and by the end of the race was just trying to complete the course. I felt frustrated, but in retrospect am still happy with the results. Thank you thank you to all the volunteers, the 3 people who waited for me patiently during a mishap, the guy who kick started my bike, and the Cionis for getting me gas and LITERALLY saving my race.

An Enduro is an Endurance test of both rider and the bike. And you did great! Those are tough trails out at Rock Creek.

Your an excellent rider and all things considered you did a great job, this race would be so much better if they would have it 2 or 3 weeks earlier in the year, in 1988 the Fools Gold was a national enduro and it was 120 brutal miles long and that was the last time it was ever on the national circuit, I was riding with a friend up there many years ago and we started following what we thought was a trail down a very steep path but it ended up being a fire break and we had to leave my friends bike there over night because it was dark by the time we got my bike pushed back up the mountain and he didn't have a headlight, we used lots of rope and pullies to get his bike out the next day.

Great race. I’m bummed I missed it due to the rescheduling of this one. But it’s a fun one and makes your work for it. Love the videos. Those tight down hill switch backs get me every time. Are you doing the donner challenge in August?
