I agree with you about dogs. Not everyone is a dog person and wants to pet random dogs running up to them. I don’t let my kids wander over and jump on people asking for a hug. 😃
@@JeanieMarie They even have a pretty negative effect on the wildlife. Because so many people visit the area (Especially around RMNP to the north), around 30% of young moose are killed by dogs off leash in the surrounding area. I'm fine with locals (in the immediate area) having their dogs off leash because they're usually better trained, but anyone from out of the area should leave them behind or have them on leash.
We use apps and check with forest website about restrictions. Also, most of my drone footage is never near the area I'm actually in. This drone footage is actually not in the area of Indian Peaks.
For Day Hikes my favorite is the Osprey Day Light bag - it's not too big and bulky, fits comfortable, and has all the room I need for a day hike: amzn.to/3BGjlQ9
Yap yap yap! Disturb the wildlife. Perfect example of why I prefer cats. 😂 No in all honesty, I love dogs, but a lot of their owners take zero responsibility for them, as you stated. That’s why a lot of parks won’t even allow them.
@@JeanieMarie It's hard to get away from dogs ANYWHERE! That's why I live in the middle of two acres, keep my windows shut and for "serenity insurance," run three LectroFans (white noise generators) in my bedroom when I sleep. And if it ain't the BARKING dogs, you can always count on uber-aggravation from neighborhood sound systems with MEGA-BASS, or hot-rodded cars or ATVs with no mufflers, or the BLAST of fireworks anytime of day or night when it's not even near July 4th, or...🙉
Off leash dogs that run up and bug other people are definitely inconsiderate.... However those moose are no more disturbed by barking dogs than they are with the cars, talking people, radios, etc. They will move on if they aren't happy... A lot of the moose that are roadside have seen their share of people and that's why they don't mind being there.
I totally agree with the moose! But for dogs to be off leash with animals around where they could threaten them and cause some major harm is not right. The rules are there for a reason, but unfortunately not everyone listens. And for owners to think it's OK to let their dogs come up and run in front of you on a trail or jumping on you...not ok. That can also cause serious injuries.
Actually, quite a few young moose are killed by off-leash dogs every year. Dogs can't help it; it's their predatory instinct. And that's why they ought to be on leash or left at home.
I totally understand the frustration with off leash dogs, but I don’t think you can control barking. There are dogs that are just like that, and believe me that I know how annoying it feels when you just want to relax and listen to the air hit the leaves on the trees. But we also have to be tolerant of others since the outdoors is for everyone. I don’t think is fair to think that because your dogs bark you can’t take it anywhere.
I understand that completely, but it was for at least 15 minutes and then they started on a hike and he was still barking on the hiking trail ... I heard it the entire time, until they got far enough from us. I just think that its completely disrespectful if your dog barks like that and then you bring it into a very populated wilderness area. There are much better areas to bring a dog, than these types of areas if they are not trained. And dont get me wrong, i like dogs and like i said its never been an issues until that day...There were so many wonderful dogs on the trails too. But unfortunately that day so many were off leash and the one uncontrollably barking. I personally wouldn't even enjoy hiking if I had a dog that was barking all the time, and would be completely embarrassed having that happen around so many other hikers.
Our dogs love the hikes as much as we do, I do not let my dogs run up on people if off leash. We respect others who may not like dogs, but pets enjoy the outdoors also and should not be bottled up in a yard or house 24 hours a day. Pet owners need to teach their pets as you would a kid..
I totally agree with this! And thank you for being a responsible owner with your dog. I think it's great to bring dogs outdoors on hikes but in a responsible manner of course.
Thank you for watching our adventure in the beautiful Indian Peaks Wilderness of Colorado!

Right?! I agree! I would never let that happen.

Good
We are not into long hiking but is this good for 1 miles or less walk and see wildlife and a lake?
Beautifue place but has become way too crowded being too near the Denver / Boulder metropolitan area .
I agree!
Your Minnesota accent came out to play in this video lol😊
🙈 yes, it still lingers at times 😄
Do you know if there is any tipe of restriction when you are hinking and make a fire for cooking in Colorado? Thankyou
How do you know where it’s safe to fly your drone when near parks?

Looking for a good hiking backpacks for hiking

aha! I've been wondering what I can do with my phone without packing it away in my pack. Thanks for the great idea......now looking for a fanny pack.
Yes, I absolutely love it! Wear my fanny pack on every hike now.

@@JeanieMarie This is why I REFUSE to live anywhere in barking distance of neighbor's dogs!👺 Cats don't disturb my precious sleep!😸

Those kinds of people are why the park service says no dogs. That's not fair to well behaved dogs and their owners.
Completely agree! I wish everyone could just listen to the signs so that they don't ruin it for everyone.

They should just ban dogs in the parks.
