Attention! عند is not a verb in Darija but a particle and is used with many other meanings apart from the English verb "to have". For example:
With/At home of:
نشوفك عندي: I will see you at my house
عندكن؟: in whose house?/with whom?
بقى عندي: stayed with me
داز عندي:he passed by my house
الوالدين، الواحد ما كيعرف قيمتهم حتى كيمشيوا عند الله
one does not know the quality of his parents until they go to God
غادي يبات عند صحابو: you will spend the night at your friends' house
From:
سلّم على الدار من عندي: say hello at home for me
ها الهندي والموس من عندي: here is the prickly pear and the knife is mine
Where/in the place of:
اجي عندي!: come here!
انا جاي عندكم: I'm going to where you are
نتلاقاو عند الرونبوان: we meet at the roundabout
ما كاين عندها معنى (+ المضارع)
it doesn't make sense (to do something)
عندنا كيهضرو بزربة: in my country/where I come from they talk very quickly
For:
عندنا عيب: for us it is shameful
زايد ناقص عندي
lit.: more or less for me (= it doesn't matter to me/I don't give a damn)
ما بقاش عندي الصبر
I have no patience left
عنده كاع الناس بحال بحال: for him all people are equal
Get along/like/have ability:
ما عنديش معه: I don't get along with him
عندي مع خوتو : I get along well with his brothers
عندي مع اللغات: I am good at languages
ما عنديش مع المنافقين: I don't like hypocrites
ما عنديش مع الكذوب: I don't like being lied to
ما عندي شي فاين نعمل وجهي (مع): my face falls with shame
السلامي ما يكون حبيب عند الرباطي: the one from Salé will not be friends with the one from Rabat
ما عندش مع الناس لي كيديرو الضحكة الصفراء
I don't have people who make the yellow laugh
I can't stand people with cynical/false laughter
ما عنديش مع الضحك الباسل : I can't stand (the dull laugh) stupid jokes
ما عندش مع الدراما = I don't like drama/problems
In a professional place:
كنت عند الجزار: I was in the butcher shop
الدكتور: مللي لا باس والحمد لله، لاش جاية عندي؟
The doctor: If you are fine, thank God, why have you come to see me?
ندّيه عند الطبيب: I take him to the doctor
قول! اشنو عندك؟: let it go now!, say what's happening to you at once!
Notice:
عندك!: be careful!
عندك ضربك البرد: be careful not to catch cold
عنداك تعطل!: don't be late
عنداك تقولها ليه!: don't tell him!
عندك تنسى
do not forget! (lit.: be careful you forget!)
ما عندي ما نسالك
Bravo!/congratulations!
عنداك يعيق!: be careful he doesn't notice
ما عندك ما دير! مكتوبا عليك
You can't do anything, it was written (it's destiny)
ما عندي ما ندير: there is nothing I can do/it is out of my hands
ما عندك ما تعمل: nothing else can be done / what a remedy!
ما عندي ما نسولك
I do not owe you anything
Obligation:
عندك جوج دراهم: you have (to pay) two dirhams
‎غير لي فيك يكفيك ماعندي ماندير بيك
what you have is enough for you, I don't have anything to do to you (used when someone has a problem and you don't want to tell them about another = "you have enough with yours"
