Of anyone's repair videos, I enjoy yours about the most. No ego, down to earth, not afraid to admit failure. Probably one of the most real youtubers there are. Keep it up, sir.
I was watching a video from Louis Rossman yesterday and the difference is style and quality of soldering techniques between him and this channel was amazing. Rossman was removing a surface mount capacitor from a Mac board and it was like he simply didn't know about heated tweezers! It was like he was using an iron tip that was three times the size of the cap he was trying to remove. Very messy. I've not done micro soldering myself except to learn I am no good at it. I'm also a radio ham and am trained in and can use a regular soldering iron with great results. Man! These two are like night and day. NorthridgeFix is MUCH better, so much tidier and cleaner... Good job dude.
You are a wonderful teacher, your work is very good, and I personally learned a lot from you I am now a technician in the maintenance of smart phones, and I will not deny that I learn a lot from you, professor. I wish you good and happiness 🙏
just did the same excat repair. I just replaced the IC but not the filter, the Nintendo works like magic. I could not find a donor board to use the filter from, but client was informed and he was happy to know it worked anyways.
Alex, there are 2 possible boards in the switch depending on where it was made one has 4 larger filters by P13USB, the other has 5 smaller filters. I’ve run into this before and used 2 201 filters as well! I believe it’s the US board that has 4 and the Japanese one has 5, but I don’t remember.
It is fine and entertaining to leave some of your videos untouched. You should stream like 1 hour of your working day, the best works of day you think are interesting. Keep up the good work . I fully understand that smile you get in the end of work. Is like passing a test after a hard studying. Good Job.
You fell like a boss when you did fix the device, i love it! 👍 Great job Mister Have a nice day with your family and friends God bless you 🙏🙏 Greetings from france
This was great! You really know your stuff! Have been looking online trying ti figure out whats wrong with my sons switch (screen displaylight on but nothing works) think im just going to send it in to you because I'll ruin it more trying to fix it
For us newbees: maybe explain how we can tell which are resistors, caps, fuses, filters etc. I'm use to traditional larger through hole with color bands or numbers printed. Also, I thought Caps are polarized? Positive negative sides. The tiny SMD caps seem to not be polarized? Ehy? Thanks.
blown filer is usually caused by usb-c port problem, always verify this first as some signals go directly from port to these chokes. Also after PI3USB replacement it is better to verify if the console also works in dock mode as this is what this chip is mainly for. It works in handheld mode even without PI3USB installed. May two cents based on my repairs
Any advice on what to try if one switch will work in dock mode, but another does not? Both will show the green light on the dock and charge, but only one displays to the screen. I have the switch's tv settings the same on both. I have tried multiple docks, multiple tv settings (720p 480p etc), but still no luck.

He has in the past, I was wondering if he would. Thing is, it's not necessary for the repair. It would be an added bonus, but as long as the component makes a good connection it should be ok. If he'd run a jumper you know there would have been some mask.
Is it possible to fix a broken camera flex cable, that is half tore at a curve? Sometimes when you don't have available replacement parts, is it possible to micro solder the broken ends by scraping off the plastic insulation?
Goes in 10th dimension 😂 Love your channel ! I’m just getting into the hobby of electronic repair, i have a pretty good setup/tools. My first project is a Nintendo switch lite with black screen, you can hear the audio from it when you turn it on but just can’t see the screen, wondering if something like you are fixing here is the issue. I noticed the connector where the ribbon cable goes into from battery is missing the little snap in portion, do you sell those? I’ll be ordering parts from you
Hi my friend. real magic is not on amtech flux or low melt solder wire but real magic is is your fingers and hands! Thanks for your good training and hi quality videos
I just saw this video, and I hope that I am getting the right filters that I just ordered from your shop.I looked up AV filters for switch and then ordered 10,I guess I will see in few days,LOL
Lead solder, it will lower the temperatures needed for solder to flow when he places the new part. Lead-free solder needs a higher temperature to melt so would place higher thermal stress on the new/replacement parts when they are being placed on the board.
How do you get rid of the bridges so easy, is it the soldering iron? I have the same flux and leaded solder, only thing i don't have is a great soldering iron. It's not bad but i believe it to not be great. I can't put so much solder on my iron without getting massive bridges no matter how hot I go it seems.
Granted you know it's a filter.. How would I know that that item is a filter an what its value is? Looking at a video card I have there are small chips that look like capasitors but are a gray color. How do I know what this item is and its value? I hope you can explain this. Thanks for the videos.
btw back in june you had the same chip and filter die. you also said the same exact thing about the different sized filters. Its probably the same donor board from that video too. lol
The component is classified as a choke/inductor to suppresses high-frequency electronic noise. It's inductive at low frequencies. Unlike bypass capacitors, The inductor is used in series with the the power line, which means that any DC current flowing through the inductor will create a voltage drop proportional to the DC resistance. Bypass capacitors basically bypasses AC noise that may be on a DC signal, filtering out the AC, for clean DC signal. Both are commonly used together is circuits. Tons of information available online. Search it up.
Hello, thank you for the video. I need your advice: I have a Switch I'm trying to repair and the left joycon won't synchronize. I tried almost everything and I think the problem is on the motherboard. Can you give me any advice? Thank you in advance and take care!
Also depends on your hot air station and it’s quality to supply the heat it says it is supplying on the readouts. Might say 400C on the readout but might be more like 340C at the nozzle. This is most likely to be true on cheap Chinese hot air stations and uncalibrated hot air stations.
@@jonathanolivares666 you should be fine assuming it’s not old and worn out. If you have a method of testing for temperatures that high, see what you get in comparison to the readout.

And I thought time travel was difficult. You need a tiny part and tweezers, and your ready to go to 10th dimension. Best line ever!!

I wish he would include how much the cost of these repairs is, it would be very helpful to know these things.
Call and get a quote. Simple.
How do get rid of the glare? Is it by adjusting the your microscope settings?
Yes by adjusting the ring LED brightness, i think
He switches off the ring light and switches on a side light - I think it was explained in a previous video.
His lighting.

Great Job as always 😍 I just have a little question. Why don’t you mask the traces so they become more tighten and isolated 🤔

laughed so hard at the 10th dimension joke because that's what happened to me today, dropped a micro filter
Could you please tell how you remove glare from microscope
Hi, I love the way you work, one question, at what temperature do you set the soldering iron and the air gun?
great job

Yes that's a donor board. You will find elephants and giraffes on that board.

What's the temp & airflow you are using my friend. And the nozzle size ?
Great job and video like always

Hello, where did you buy your Microscope?
In all the videos I watch about fixing Nintendo switches the fuse is never blown what would cause the fuse to blow please let me know curious
amazing work
Great job
When the pad was peeled off and repaired, the newly made copper pad stuck together, so I fixed one side with a toothpick and soldered it.

10th dimension, there are many iPhone screws and 0201 capacitors that one can find there :-)
What is a filter? What does it do? What is the difference between the sizes?

And microchips fly to quantum realm when they snap😂
How did u get rid of the glare?
You are saying filter? What is the difference between a filter and a capacitator?
I think filters falls in the inductance category
@@gower1973 Yeah! I always thought of capacitors, as filters! But do they make a component called a filter? I'm a little confused about all of this!

Hi sir, how much heat and airflow do you use in the heat gun? Thanks
For me, 390°c~425°c heat, 20~60 Airflow depending on the chip size, the bigger the chip the higher the airflow.
Also depends on your hot air station and it’s quality to supply the heat it says it is supplying on the readouts. Might say 400C on the readout but might be more like 340C at the nozzle.
