We all know the USA and South Korea have a little love affair going on. We love Korean movies, food, the people, and Korean music/entertainment. I can't explain how much I love Korean movies. The first Korean movie I saw was The Wailing and I swear it is my absolute favorite movie to date. I never knew probably bc of my own ignorance how damn funny Koreans are. There sense of humor is just pure ✨chefs kiss✨ 👌🏽
A generation of Americans sacrificed their lives and future for the freedom of Korea. Never should the next generation dare to give up Korea's freedom or dare to forget their forefathers' sacrifice.
Yes, the Korean War should never be forgotten and the alliance with South Korea should be maintained. I'm concerned, however, that leaving American troops on their land means that South Korea is an overseas colony...
Korea is successful all thanks 🙏 to the two strong founding fathers who are Rhee Syngman, and Park Chung Hee, who turned Korea into a wealthy country as it is today. And another is hope U.S. and South Korea relations will continue to remain strong and prosperous all Thankfulness to the starting point of Honorable U.S. President Harry S. Truman.
As an American who's met South Koreans, I'd like to say that I think you can find no better friends in the world than South Koreans. However, I wonder why South Koreans would want a foreign army occupying their country 24/7? Of course, we'd still be good allies, but doesn't it feel like the USA colonized South Korea by placing its army on their land, like the British used to do in India and Africa?
No American presence in South Korea is crucial to deter not only North Korea but China. It's an American base right at China's doorstep and that is invaluable.
Basically saying: S.Korea's only protection to it's freedom is by America's Interest. At this point, S.Korea is basically one of the factors that balance and give most of the world a type of trade they use our way to conduct business like the west.
US aid to S Korea was both in economy and defense. About 3/4 of aid to S Korea was not a debt but aid to rebuild S Korea. Total of $38 billion was used to help S Korean economy which in today's term, over a hundred billion. No country could help S Korea more than the US at time of needs for S Korea. S Korea is willing to help the US against China but Washington must not push S Korea too far or else, US will lose foothold in defense and economy in Asia. S Korea is prepared to defend themselves without the US with its own nuclear weapons.
park chung hee was a fascist but because of the economic turn around .. he did it made Korea great .. economically fascist are better at it then comies
These “experts“ talking about how Trump will withdraw troops if the Koreans don’t pay up. Don’t they realize that’s just a negotiation tactic? The consequences have to seem real and dire in order to get some movement from the other side. This is why we need some negotiators and politicians who have lived in the real world for a while.
Fantasy stories of broken record, jumps over the track which says 'We demand Apologies and Compensations!' It is nothing more than wasting time and money. Your efforts die completely.
Aren't you concerned that American soldiers on their land means that South Korea is an American colony like when Britain put its soldiers in India and Africa?
If US sides with Japan, you will lose Korea. Clear and simple. Anyone who doesn't understand this sentiment yet claims they understand US Korean rls is not realizing the shallowness of their analysis
I don't get where your analysis is coming from. The US will never take a stance against South Korea, cuz that means they're going to lose an important strategic, geopolitical ally against China and North Korea. Imagine the US turning against South Korea and South Korea decides to join China, Russia, North Korea alliance. The US will never take that chance as it would drastically weaken its position against China and North Korea.
i wish my korea could be neutral between US and china. in the future china will become stronger and the US are in decline. there will be no unification if we are a US base forever
Agreed. But I think the only way for South Korea to have complete independence from the US is through having a strong national defense. And in modern society, the only way to obtain full national security is through having its own nuclear weapons. However, this notion goes against the US's agenda of complete denuclearization in the Korean Peninsula, hence restricting South Korea from developing its own nuclear weapons. So its structurally impossible for South Korea to fully be interdependent from the US military-wise as its neighboring countries are both equipped with nuclear weapons. The US is currently acting as a nuclear umbrella for South Korea and Japan. Economically wise, South Korea is already independent of the US.
Thanks for USA. As a South Korean, I wish this relationship with America will go long.
Me too. I hope for a great relationship with Korea!

Syngman Rhee abandoned the people, and Park Chung-hee was a dictator who was worse off than North Korea.
