New Renault Mégane RS Lux Review - Does the new 4-wheel steering really work?

- Renault's hot hatch game is strong but their products don't seem to have the traction or cult following in the South African market compared to say the overly-popular Golf GTI or highly-regarded Honda Civic Type R.
With the latest generation Megane RS, Renault has seemingly gone all out to attract the attention of the hot hatch crowd. The all-new exterior design is dramatic and certainly turns heads. The interior has that boy-racer feel and its 1.8-litre turbo motor produces 205 kW.
But in this video we set out to test a brand new feature on the Megane, a feature unique in this segment: 4-wheel steer. Watch as Ernest Page takes to the track to find out if the 4-wheel steer actually works.

The most underrated performance hatchback. Looks fabulous in person
It's a mile ahead of the GTI but common people will buy the common car. Vive le Renault!
U have to be one person in South Africa that knows their cars. This is miles away

I drive a Megane GT and love the car. I can just imagine how great the RS must be.
The Golf's interior is way better :) but RS Exterior 0_o Best looking Hot Hatch I've seen :D
Charles צ'ארלס mini jcw mhmmm 🥳🥳🥳
This car is so much fun to drive. Renault did a brilliant job with this one.
Renault always nails it when comes the exteriors of Megane RS...in fact all the RS’es are awesome🔥🔥🔥
A great car, presented very well. Well done bro, you nailed it.
Shot Mpiti!
Don't listen to the haters, dude. I think you did a fine review.
Thanks man! Trying to improve every time! :)
loved this video
Doesn't matter how good these hot hatches get. People will still buy Golf GTI's.
sheeples buy GTI's
Sheep, is the word you're looking for
No way, every person who just one time drived or had a megane rs will always buy it again 😎😎😎

Common people with no flair or excitement in their lives
I'm enthusiastic about the Golf GTI
But this slowly winning my heart
Nice video
That camera work tho 💖👌
Blue Rose I thought this wasn't anywhere near as good as their other videos. And no, not because Ciro isn't here. They used some nice borrowed shots that I've seen in every other Megane RS video. The whole thing seemed like a preview of the RS more than anything else. And trying too hard to go sideways for some reason. Hope they do a proper review on normal roads. We need to know more about these cars in SA, we all know what Polo and Golfs are like.
Looks like you had a great time in that Megane...indeed it's a stunning car.
This is a very good car especially looks wise, i think in that resspct its pretty awesome and the 4 control thing is also pretty awesome since we don't all swaai om die hoek soos n holligen by die spar parking lot. But I must say the golf might still win me over with all its fancier kit since i like that kind of thing.
Where did you film this?
1 second faster than the GTi on a 0-100. It's brutal.
Perfect balance of Flair and clinical looks and drive. In real life it just has massive presense. Gti is great but too safe.
This car sticks to the road well.
Yeah bro that’s where your money goes when you buy a Renault Rs (HANDLING)
Bravo ernest ... bella guida , soprattutto nei riallineamenti dopo il controsterzo ...
Google translate....aaaaand... THANK YOU! Yeah, this car is VERY chuckable but at the same time can track true to the chosen line. Also mid-corner adjustability is just insane!
@@fastwithjesus5722 MMMM, interesting, None have been put on a dyno here as far as I know. Maybe the figures on the dyno are wheel horsepower and not Flywheel power as is normally claimed my manufacturers?
What do you think of the Nissan NP300 [do they really call it that] Hardbody? Built Africa Tough! 0.000 stars on the World NCAP safety rating. Have you tested it?
In terms of parts how's Renault, wanna buy this car but I'm stuck on parts availability
This car is better than a new Golf GTI because a GTI is now missing the physical knobs for aircon which makes it difficult for the driver to adjust it while driving.
I find cars like the golf GTi and GTD boring to look at these days there everywhere on the roads. Where as the Renault Mégane RS Trophy in yellow or orange will get u noticed and sound of the exhausts ....
Amazing car !!!!!!!
Is there a south african configurator
Hmmm...quite a performer with a silent name Can u please do a head to head of it with Golf GTI
That way is gonna much easier to see the 205kw in action
I live in the Philippines and a lot of car companies have entered our local market but I just realized that Renault hasn't done so. Back when I was a child we had a VW and a Renault. Now VW has been here for a while now but Renault is still absent. I reckon they could piggyback on Nissan's distribution network rather easily, but maybe they just think the market is already pretty crowded here.
It's time to go French🇫🇷. Because they try hard to compete and the results are obvious. Bravo Renault. The only brand that made 180 degree turn in my mind the last years. Super cars.
Ernest can drive, bruh...
GTi is so common it works on my nerves for the looks of this car alone i would get it i mean did yawl see that rear at night, i dont care about your Gti's fancy indicators...!!!
Went for a test drive and I think it's a great car and looks wise looks better than a GTI in my opinion. Interior was a bit of a let down. GTI just happens to be an all rounder and an accomplished package.
Man you don’t buy an RS For interior if that’s how you choose cars you shouldn’t have considered it in the first place
The best car
Does it vrrr pha?
It does... I test drove it a while back
hi.
is it FWD? Or 4WD .
FWD
If it was not for the resale value of French cars, i think they would sell a bucket load more in RSA
4 wheel steering on a hot hatch. I don't know why its necessary but sounds maaad 👍
lol!
It's something I didn't know I wanted till I tried it!
@@PerformanceWithPage I guess I'll have to try it. Gonna be interesting!
@@swiftysportsa Don't know if you saw on the other comment, the mid-corner adjustability is where this system shines. Definitely worth a test drive
The 4 wheel steering is the reason I wont buy this car. I am a old school guy
@@PerformanceWithPage very keen to test drive it. This may become the future for performance vehicles
Where’s Ciro🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
HAHAHAHAHA
After watching this cool video, I think the Opel Astra OPC is still better than the three cars mentioned here. Namanje!!!
Can’t wait to see what Ciro says about this ....oh meh
lol. Ciro likes it too :)
Good review, excellent video quality and style. However..... I still prefer VW.
Last time Renault was in F1. Vw nowhere
Who's this guy?
Ernest the Drift Master.
@@ronch550he could barely keep the car straight!!! HAHAHAH
Renault designed a car that's amazing at cornering with all wheel steering and you decided to show people it can go 'sideways' you really don't deserve th opportunity to be reviewing cars waste of an RS on track
Lol, I was thinking the same thing, what a joke this was. It was built to go fast and sideways is not going fast 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Sideways is GTI drivers mentality.
i would have loved to see a time attack battle with the Gti and this to show what benefit the extra power and 4control has over the Gti.
@@YusufPetersenCPT yip, that would have been a better review of the car as compared to this guy trying to go sideways when the car was designed to counter that kind of behaviour.
@@memeguyTM this guy knows what he's doing, and has a ton of driving and drifting experience under his belt. I think he reviewed this just fine.
@@ronch550 Disagree strongly. He is doing things which the car was designed not to do. How can that be a good review? I'm sure he may have better reviews elsewhere but this was bull.
No ciero, no like 😂
:( :D
Slowcar
ciro does a better review
cle vin No ways. Ernest is way better.
Gti is better
How So?
no way mate just NOOOO WAY
Unfortunately it's not. Sorry
Why does this car now make a noise when gear changes? I thought this was better than the gti yet it copies....
