In this video I explain the essentials of how to ride SEPTA in Philadelphia. Thank you for watching and have a great rest of your day! Camera used: iPhone 11
having grown up riding SEPTA and transit in general it's easy to take this kind of knowledge for granted, you covered some great points for a first time rider to keep in mind
How to ride septa. Step One: put on an EOD suit Step Two: Bring a method of defence Step Three: Plan to leave at least 3 to 4 days before you expect to arrive at your destination. Step Four: Enjoy your ride and thank you for using Septa.
Besides SEAPAT card, do your subway and buses take contactless credit / debit card by tapping? As a visitor for one day, can we get a refund on remaining unused balance?
This being SEPTA, the answer is no / no / no. You *_can_* use credit cards at fare kiosks and they claim to be working on allowing contactless cards onboard ... but this being Philadelphia, don't hold your breath. (Note: I was using mobile payments in Berlin over a decade ago.). SEPTA views occasional riders as "marks" who can be shaken down for extra money. One afternoon I pretended to be a visitor to the city and at least 50% of the SEPTA "customer service" people I spoke with gave me incorrect - and more-expensive - advice. Your best bet is to look into one of the one-day passes (whose name and price keep changing, FWIW) that will give you some flexibility and are usually less expensive than paying single fares, which normally include a surcharge of anywhere from 50¢ to $1.75 depending on your trip.
