R.I.P. Dallas McKennon (1919-2009)
The man who did that Hyena laugh for one of the Mannequins which was previously used for The 1955 Disney movie, Lady & The Tramp and was used for Ripper Roo in Crash Bandicoot.
Chuck has passed too :( and Bob Burns, who committed suicide.
The comment right above OPs details everything posted in OPs...post.
Yeah, sad way to get your ut00b clicks lol
Eh See That man is my great grandpa (my Mom’s grandpa). He’s also known as Gumby!
@@saskialay4837 ....And Archie Andrews!
Eh See Don’t forget the Jack in the Box from Elf.
Is it me, or does that laughing dummy sound exactly like Ripper Roo from Crash Bandicoot?
It is it's the same stock sound effect
It's from the hyena in Lady and the Tramp
and every 90's toy where it is like a cute little alien and you touch it and it starts to vibrate and spin around laughing
It's also used in laughing sacks, or carnival attraction scary rides.
I've also seen it in one episode of Catscratch, and in the movie Elf.
James you've outdone yourself again.. Every day of october for years now..quality uploads.. You are a master of setting the mood for Halloween. Noone does it better. For real dude thanks for all the hard work.
you must be new here. This is from a few years ago.
@@Chaingun yeah but I'm still grateful for all the work he did the years before, always made my October better.
Protector Drone what year was this from?
@@Chaingun what? I don't remember this ...when is it from? There's no "originally uploaded" in the description.. But let me guess..youve liked Cinemassacre since before it was cool to like Cinemassacre...
I was! (: Cinemassacre 200 was my shit!
*I Feel Fantastic: THE MOVIE*
Hshahshsh! Spot on!
H E Y H E Y H E Y
That is it perfectly
Goddammit do not bring that video to my memory again. Creep the hell out of me when I was younger
Younger?
I'm 26 and that uncanny valley shit still creeps the hell out of me.
0:28 that ripper roo laugh
It IS the same sound effect.
Thanks James for posting this video. One of the truly forgotten gems of horror cinema. It's easy to criticize this film for using elements from other movies, but no film is like this when you watch the finished product. The opening scene alone is one of the creepiest things ever put on film, along with the great music by Pino Donaggio.
One of my favorite movies, regardless of genre.
Wow, I use to be afraid of mannequins as a child, because I had a dream of a laughing blonde mannequin head in a dark room and that scene in this movie is EXACTLY what I saw! I must have seen this movie and forgot about it. I have to find it, again!
Yes! This is such an underrated movie. A true hidden gem.
So happy that James finally decided to cover this classic movie. It was one of my childhood favorites that used to come on cable at night when I was 12. Mannequins are so creepy in this film especially the ones that the mouths gape open and let out a sound. Some really cool scares and some unsettling scenes with this one. The ending is really crazy too. Glad James didn't spoil it. Recommend to watch this one with the lights out. Thanks James!
I vaguely remember a Kolchak: The Night Stalker episode about mannequins. Was just a kid so it scared the hell out of me. I remember hearing that show was one of the inspirations for The X-Files and Darren McGavin did guest star in a few episodes at Chris Carter's request.
I love this movie! I remember being scared to death of it when I was a kid! Had to get a DVD copy. Really recommend this for for horror fans. Thanks James for the review!
0:28 it's a Ripper Roo's laughter from Crash Bandicoot series :D damn
dude i thought this too!
It is. It's the same stock sound used for both. I used to have a toy that made that same sound
Saw it because of your video with Joe Bob, I don't know how or why I have missed this movie in so many years. Thanks James!
R.I.P Chuck Connors
The guy who plays Mr. Slausen that runs the Museum. His preference was amazing! I would have loved to see him do more horror films! This movie is really a gold gem to watch! And just like what James said, this could have been a classic like Texas Chainsaw Massacre! It's a shame this movie didn't catch on! If you like Texas Chainsaw, then you might find some enjoyment from this!
DEFINITELY WORTH A WATCH!
As a horror fan, thank you for introducing me to forgotten classics.
James, have you watched Mandy yet? It's a goddamn game changer!
The Rifle man as the Killer is very scooby-dooish to wear a Mask while on murdering rampage,I'm definitely gonna check it out
Geoff good gamer I saw this movie when I was about 8yrs old and it scared the hell out of me. I just now realized it's the Rifleman!
yep,Chuck Conners
I thought that was chuck conners
He'd have gotten away with it too, If it weren't for those meddling kids!
@@populousmass Lmao yep
This went right onto my October watch list.
I've already looked it up and found it.
Right here on youtube in fact.
Geez, I watched the Rifftrax version of this movie without knowing what it was about, but I couldn't even get into the jokes; they may as well not have been there. My fear of mannequins and animatronics has gotten a lot better over the years, but all I could do was watch in terror. The horrifying effects left me a shell of a person for a day after! SO SCARY! And full disclosure, I didn't even watch this video, just listened to it, I didn't think I could handle the visuals. >_
You would probably hate the music video for 'Rock It' by Herbie Hancock.
Pussy
Christina Wert I know how you feel. I have problems with severe panic attacks and anxiety (along with depression) Some things I just cannot handle,so I completely understand. I really do hope and pray that things get better for you 😉 Have a blessed day!
@@codyelkins6402 Use that kind of language, replying to a woman? Shows what manners you've got. Sad.
Most people did after the Goosebumps episode Night of the Living Dummy aired back in the 90's
That man who owns the museum is Chuck Connors.
Watched this last summer with joe bob brigs, it was a blast!
Yeah it was great to see him feature this one and Blood Feast, both of which are forgotten pioneers of horror
Fuck that.😠😆
The guy is Chuck Connors.. he was The Rifleman.. seeing him in the film automatically makes the film go back a ways.. i can see it in late 70's early 80's just with him in it..
That scene in the beginning with the laughing mannequins that culminated in the pipe impailment was shown uncut on a Saturday afternoon on one of the Philly UHF channels- how on earth was that possible? Scared the hell out of me as a kid!
Lol it's extremely tame. All the deaths are. All I could think of is why isn't he getting out of the way lol. Which is probably useless versus telepathy
One of the few movies that gave me nightmares as a kid.
Do _Greasers Palace_ if you can!
This is pretty much my dad's favorite horror movie! He keeps asking me if I've seen it yet and now I think I have to!
I've always wondered what the screaming blue faced man is from in the intro.
Love 70s & 80s horror movies but somehow this one slipped under my radar until Joe Bob Briggs showed it on last year’s The Last Drive-In movie marathon. I rarely get creeped out by movies anymore but this one did it.
Holy Shit, Chuck Connors is in this!? The fuckin Rifleman!
Chuck Conners was a great choice in casting too, I like how he towers over everyone
Reminds me of the I Feel Fantastic video.
"I Feel Fantastic:The Movie" 😁
Shit is fuckin scary
NO WAY
Great film, little fact richard band took this score and used it in the puppet master as the main theme.
Chuck Conners was still good in his old age when this film was made.
He only passed on within the past six months or so. RIP
I was thinking man I know that's him
@@l.valentine3478 I think he passed away in 1992.
@@wstine79 I must be thinking of another old-timey cowboy that passed recently...
I was thinking of Clint Walker of Cheyenne fame.
My wife and I just watched this recently! Chuck Connors really played a creepy, shady character. One of his best roles! Definitely watch this on Shudder with Joe Bob Brigg's commentary on the "last drive-in", well worth it!
Best part of October
Love this movie! It is not forgotten by me I watch it every summer!
I watched Toxic Avenger yesterday thanks to you CM, bloody brilliantly over the top crazy whacky and hilarious!
I still watch The Rifleman with Chuck Connors to this day!
I never took the plunge on this movie, but now I have to. This looks like a lot of fun.
Cinemassacre always gets me jacked up for Halloween. Keep up the good work my friend.
In the right hands, a remake of this would be awesome.
Everyone should check out "Clownhouse" from 1989. It has a troubled production backstory, but it's still a creepy movie.
There is some scenes that are downright dreamy. The quietness of the scene where the girl wakes up and she is being taken care of by a very kind looking...don’t know what.
This creeped my out as a kid when I saw it on tv back in 83 84? I think the reason its not known as well...is because it gets confusing near the middle/end (how did the guy get turned into a mannequin?) The final scene is way confusing....and hardly any blood in a genre at the time was full of gore.. Most of The kills don't start happening until the middle.
Parts of it are creepy...like the mannequin head yelling for her friend...and the wax kills
no......the guy did not get turned into a mannequin..." Jerry" was probably killed by the villain , and Mr Slausen was testing Molly by using a mannequin to pretend Jerry has came to save her to see what she would do........Jerry was most likely dead.....and the test proved Molly would escape if she could.....she had to become a mannequin.....at the end Molly cracks.....love this movie....the soundtrack was the same composer as from the movie " Carrie" .
I saw this movie 2 years ago and loved it. It's a unique creepy and atmospheric horror movie. I really love the music score. If you liked this movie I recommend you check out the 1983 film curtains that also has some of it's own taste to it and the music haunting and chilling.
This movie has cult status in my family. It always creeped us out as kids.
Whenever the cry goes out, "Too much blood, guts and gore", this is my go-to horror movie. I am totally thrilled when people are freaking out to "MOOOLLLEEEE". Underrated and highly affective. Deserves a wider audience.
What, no mention that the bad guy is Chuck "The Rifleman" Connors?!
1:26 Great troll face
I agree with James on the fact it would of worked much better without supernatural element and been about a human monster ala Chainsaw Massacre.. that laughing dummy could of been animatronic / death-trap device (as could the other puppets) rather than supernatural and it would of connected the two much more logically (well as "logical" as any slasher horror)
the jumpscare at the end was frightening.
Oh you little shit, that jumpscare at the end >.
They should bring back MonsterVision and let James host!
Best idea I've heard all day!
Never heard of this. October is the best. Thanks James 👍🏼
This is a unique movie. I just think this needed some gore to amp it up and then it would have made this a great movie.👌
The older man in the overalls I think is the Rifleman. (old western show)
Oh my Chuck Connors the Rifleman himself and for me Captain Skorzeny from the FOX TV Series WEREWOLF
They should make a Doctor Who episode where The Autons look like this.
It would be scary as fuck.
This movie creeped me the hell out when I was a kid! I bought it on DVD back in 2004 and it still creeps me out.
"WHAT YOU GONNA DO WHEN YOU'RE BRANDED"
Ha ha ha... This movie use to scare the living crap outta me... I use to hate seeing mannequins at Wal-Mart, K-Mart and JC Penny's... They use to give me daymares... Ha ha ha... Great movie though... I had to order my dvd copy from Amazon...
I think Chuck Connors deserved to have his name mentioned.
Hmm... So this is where many horror video games get the mannequin stalking scare inspiration from!!!
Like Joe Bob Briggs said about this "4 stars check it out"
Holy shit it's Chuck Connors, The Rifleman!
Holy crap! I remember watching just the beginning of this movie when I was kid. I'm gonna watch it now that I know the title. Thanks James.
Maybe this is where the idea for house of wax remeke came from it could also explain why manegins apear in a lot of horror stuff
For those that subscribe to Shudder, you can watch with movie with Joe Bob Briggs commentary.
You forgot to mention that he was known for playing The rifleman back in the 50s.
This movie is underrated! Thanks for talking about it!
I think it may have been over looked by the name or the fact that slasher movies were on the rise such a Halloween
HOLY SHIT! It's The Rifleman!!
an underrated classic for sure !!
This movie is classic, used to creep me the fuck out back when I was a kid along with funhouse
Please review Horror Express
This always seemed like a natural companion piece to Motel Hell for me: Two old school actors known for their straight roles in Westerns (Chuck Connors and Rory Calhoun) pulling off demented grind house weirdos in unexpected style.
Every year these reviews get better
bruh...
Music sounds exactly like that of "The Funhouse" (1981)
So, did you mean Universal rip this music off?
Tourist Trap is a fun movie.
NO IT AIN'T 😠😆
I wonder if Eric Fournier took some inspiration from this to create Shaye Saint John.
I wonder if Fallout 4 got some inspiration from this movie, considering all the weirdly placed manniquins.
Update on the squid thing at Caldor: I'm holding it near customer service. The front of the store is kind of a mess and it can't be allowed to escape onto the streets, so try coming in through the loading docks in the back if you're going to try to come in at all. AVGN Donkey Kong Land!
looks like a Jay Leno mask at 1:45
Oh no. Mannequins that laugh like Ripper Roo. That's is terrifying...
Dude, A Fucking 40 Year Old Nightmare. 😠😆
When I was a kid I watched this anime on TechTV called Betterman, it had a lot of psychological horror elements to it, and one episode had this cargo plane being overrun by living dummies and it was creepy as shit. For years after that I was terrified of mannequins, so it's a good thing I never saw this film. Now it just looks awesome though, so I'm definitely gonna check it out.
The road to Halloween is full of corpses and mannequins
The PG rating hurt it, if it had been R rated horror fans would’ve flocked to see it. But an underrated classic nevertheless.
I stumbled across this movie on UA-cam ten or so years ago. I thought I had seen every English language horror film known to man, but hadn't seen this. An interesting, but totally forgotten film. Another one I found around the same time was "The Boogens"...another pretty decent, lesser-known horror film.
Wonder if this is where fallout 4 devs got the idea for all the posed mannequins in murder scenes with real bodies? lol
holy crap is that chuck conners? he went a long ways since his rifleman days.
I wasn’t familiar with this film until Joe Bob Briggs introduced it to us via The Last Drive-In earlier this year. Have to say, I was impressed with his genuinely creepy the movie is at times.
"Stop the video right now". Thanks man. Dummies and mannequins scare me more than any other movie thing!
I'm surprised that Chuck Connors (Mr. Rifleman) was in this. What I found interesting is that the part was originally intended for Jack Palance and they must've really wanted him because you see Connors wearing the same hat Palance likes wearing (i.e. City Slickers).
Wow, I watched this movie so many times as a little kid along with other offbeat ones like Phantasm and The Howling. I didn't understand what was going on but it scared the crap out of me all the same.
I have mild automatonophobia and that's why this movie was scary for me. Isn't the enjoyment of horror precisely that you get to be scared safely? (vicarious danger)
Wait a second, is the man they meet Chuck Connors of The Rifleman ? ...He looks just like him
I liked the ripper Roo guy.
JR Ewing before he struck it rich with oil.
found the RiffTrax version of this a while ago when looking through the horror tag on Amazon Prime Video. dunno if I would have found it scary without the riffing, but in any case, I enjoy it as a fun, kinda campy slasher flick that's unfairly forgotten
