Friedman's best mini amp, IMHO. I've got the Little Sister, with a HOT MOD EVO V2, and it get's into this territory. I used to think that LS was Friedman's best lunchbox amp, and now that I have that Hot Mod it sounds even better. But, had this amp been out, I would've purchased this one. The clean has that warm plexi clean that's KILLER. Not quiet as nice as the Little Sister, but still killer. Great demo!
Thanks man! I love the LS, and I bet it sounds killer with the hot mod! I found out I can use my Mr Scary hot mod with my SS100, so I’ll have to do a vid of that at some point too
@@sir.shreddington IMO. That SS100 especially the V2 is Dave’s best amp. That will make for a GREAT video. I’m very seriously thinking about trading my LS in for a JEL, though. I want to sit down with one in front of me and play with it, first though. Such a great amp…
Deciding between this and the badcat hotcat 45...tempted by the comparable price and the fact it's got el34s... Any thoughts? Did you compare? I already have a jj Jr combo
I feel like the JEL is Dave's take on a plexi and an 800, so if that's your flavor! Although a JJ Jr kind of covers similar territory. I haven't had much time with the bad cat stuff, I've tried one once years ago, but I'd like to check out a 50W Lynx
do you need a powerstation or ox to get the distorted sound at lower voumes i mean does this have the ppiv master volume like the new plex friedman has?
Thanks! They sound like pretty different amps to me, but they both cover the same ground. My QR was an absolute beast, it had the magic dust. It was an older model with a Heyboer too. It was so punchy and awesome...I totally regret selling it dude.
The first 3 songs were on the Plexi channel, and the last 2 were on the JEL channel. I've really been liking the BB preamp lately. I was actually using that for the songs on the Plexi channel.
@JasonTountas nice ! I just got the jel head as well. I do have a bb preamp, too. I'll try that. I really liked Pete Thorn review of it. I found the plexi channel incredibly bright, even with the bright switch in the middle. But I find you need to get the master up.

Ps You nailed the high and dry tone. How did you run your bb pre amp setting wise with amp ? I need to try that. Those were active pickups in the guitar ?

I don’t think you NEED it. This amp does a really good job at getting the variety of tones at a low volume
