- In this video we are going to show you some iconic video and photo material taken in during Operation Market Garden and then show you the same location shown as it was in 2020.
This part focuses on Hell's Highway, the area between Son en Breugel and Uden. It was here that during Operation Market Garden the Germans were able to repeatedly block the road. the 101st Airborne division and British units such as the 44 RTR fought here in a desperate attempt to keep the corridor to Nijmegen open.

My uncle was killed here operating a glider. Operation Market Garden, September 22, 1944 RIP Uncle Harold
May he rest in peace. Was he flying a glider for the 82nd Airborne?
@@TheBattlefieldExplorer 101 Airborne, Screaming Eagles. Buried at Margraten.
Can you give me his name?
My uncles name is Harold Spraguer. 25 years when killed.. He received the Purple Heart.
A beautifully put together piece. Lovely to see how things can change for the better. Let's hope people learn from the past. Thanks for sharing, Paul in the UK
Gute Arbeit, sehr beeindruckend
Nice video - placing historical pictures to the same spot 76 years later is amazing that these places still exist and the owners probably didn't know. Cheers
Thanks, love those now and then videos
Glad you like them!

Thank you for your research and the brilliant videos you share. 😏 Future generations, like us will enjoy your dedicated work in preserving this terrible time in human history. The speed in which these bridges were rebuilt to allow the military hardware to advance was incredible.
Very good.. Keep history alive.. In these times...... That's if the human race. Ever learns........
We can only hope!
Great stuff. From what I can gather there wasn't a lot of motion picture coverage of Market Garden released to the public but we're seeing a lot of new stuff from your channel. At least I am. Curious as to where you find these clips. "Theirs is the Glory" shot a year after the battle gives us a good idea of the locations but the production values hinder the film's usefulness as a historical record. But it's still the best visual example to see what the terrain and features looked liked in 1944. But I see a lot of clips on your channel that I've not seen before. Would love to take a tour with you someday. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your kind words, I've been doing a lot of digging around on UA-cam and the Archives.org website, especially the combat bulletins contain some amazing footage. Those are the edited bits so there must be a lot more stuff somewhere in an archive waiting to be found.
Superb work.
Can you tell me what music plays in this video please
Thanks Stuart!
The are three pieces of music in the video:
