This is stunning! As someone (attempting) to make her first demo real this was incredibly inspiring!! I loved every second of it! I love how everything from the backgrounds(super beautiful backgrounds btw) to the noise/sounds made everything, transition so smoothly!

I have a question: I enquired Gobelins about the requirements for a demo reel when applying for their animation bachelor of arts, and they say that we don't need to submit a demo reel? And they also stated that if I knew how to animate then the Bachelor of Arts may not be suitable for me, and I am again confused because you submitted a demo reel. So are animation skills are not really needed as a requirement for a Bachelor of Arts? Or will a demo reel increase the chance of acceptance?
No it's not needed! And if you meet the requirements for the masters you should definitely apply there. Since I already knew how to animate I got to skip a year, and started in the second year of the bachelors. But that normally doesn't happen. Just submit a powerful portfolio and you'll get in, no need for a demoreel! If you want you could always add it but it isn't necessary

Really amazing! Since you're just getting into school, how did you learn what to do with regards to animation? I want to get into animation and eventually go to a school but I have no idea where to start!
Thank you! I learned a lot from youtube tutorials and researching other artists haha. But for starting to learn animation I highly recommend the "animators survival kit" It's a great guide with everything you need to know to get started :)

nooo I didn't, just normal highschool. Yeah I do, draw a lot is one of the most important ones, it seems simple but the key is to show how much you love drawing. So draw a lot!

Hello! I stumbled upon your work and it has been really a great inspiration for me upon making a portfolio for Gobelins!
I have a question though, I noticed that your character designs were in pencil but upon inking, coloring it and placing a yellowish background… was that all done in photoshop? I am confused with the requirements because in Gobelins’ website they like mostly traditional outputs. But I can see your portfolio has both traditional and digital 😅
Thank you so much! No those character designs were all done digitally, the only traditional work I have are my anatomy and people sketches. But they didn't seem to mind that I had more digital stuff! Just show that you can do both and you'll be fine! (And if you can't do digital just draw a lot of traditional they still love to see that)
Most portfolio's I saw had a good combination of both digital and traditional. Hope this helps! And if you have further questions just ask ;)

I want to attend Gobelins however my parents are concerned about the safety and such. Just wanted to know your opinion hehe and may I ask about if you know some good accommodations in France? @@fiyahanimations5103 the covid situation is rough, but once everyone is vaccinated I believe it will be alright. Finding accommodation in Paris is hard 😪 I used Studapart (a housing site) and eventually found a place! Took me some time tho

Hello. How much time did it take u to build your portfolio (Regarding demoreel). I want to go too but my drawing skill is a mess, I barely created art in my life and I have less than 6 months left. I have nothing on the table, Do I even have a chance? I mean trying intense courses or just apply next year? Ypur work is awesome and I feel like I'm decades away from something like that.

Hi lava, congrats on your entrance. I don't how is in gobbelins but do they teach you to do this animation to apply for entry or in france there is really good art education? Since calarts only asks for an art portfolio..

I have never done art education before and everything you see in my demoreel is self taught. For the Gobelins Course itself you dont need to know animation to apply but I already wanted to show that I can do it. An art portfolio is enough to apply and animation is not necessary!😁
Nice, I'm looking for the 3D Animation departement in Paris and I'm wayyy more 3D than 2D. Is it really important for me to catch up my lack of competence in 2D if I want to get accepted ? I think we must have in any situation, bachelor or master, both 2D/3D studies sooo idk.

I’m 15 rn and I want to apply for gobelins after graduation, I’m thinking of buying graphic tablet right now, so can you please recommend any models? Also I’m really interested is there any standard for software and in what software do you use?
Do you have to give an animation demo reel for the Bachelors program? Doing research it seemed as if it was more towards the graduate program. If so I would love to know because I do not have as much animating experience as this demo reel....
I have a quarry about my 2d animation demo reel . I have both traditional and symbol animation for my demo reel so which one should I Put ahead in the reel?
Also Do I have to add backgrounds for a animation demo reel
I should put the traditional first, because Gobelins really like that kind of stuff but if your symbol animation is better then you should always put your best work first! And no you don't have to add backgrounds, you can, but its not a must
