I absolutely loved your reactions to Death Note. I can tell that you're giving it a fair chance. It's also very impressive that on your first watch you managed to offer a lot of attention to things people usually don't appreciate at first (Matsuda's character, for example). And you're surprised by it? The world Kira created was hardly without advantages. Matsuda confirms it with police statistics. Kira also prevented wars, because world leaders were too afraid to start them. He became an invisible hand ensuring safety by terror. Is such approach just? Surely not. Is Light a psychopath who enjoys ruining lives for the sake of killing boredom? No doubt. But it's a known dark truth about the world, that it would've been a much better place without certain people in it. It's a paradox known also from the Batman series. Batman doesn't kill, that's his code, but in the long run, his leniency usually costs many lives.
I mean, it’d be cool if he won. Subvert expectations.
@@4RedJohn Exactly. Light (whom I hate) kills many innocent people, but those innocent people are minimum compared to the innocent people dying in the world should Kira not exist.
I guess the issue in which Kira is still not justified is that the reason why people are not killing is because he's holding the world hostage. Imagine a country with full tyranny where anyone against the government gets killed. You could say the crimes are lower but there's a reason for that. And btw, crimes would not be lower, they would be made legal, except that the government (Kira) is the only one allowed to do it.
