Hey, it‘s not that bad...Luxemburg made an enormous progress in the last 10 years. So luxemburg isn‘t anymore a country everyone has to beat like 6:0...we came from 11 non professional starting players to now, 11 professionals on the pitch. We made it from League D into League C in the first Nations League and ended the last Nations League second with 10 points in League C.
From the last 7 competitive games, we won 4, draw 1 and only lost 2 games.
In overall total we played 415 games since the year 1911 and only won 44 total, but 21 of them, we won between 2010 and now!
I agree that Ireland still has to win against Luxemburg, but Luxemburg isn‘t anymore a country everyone has to win like 6:0. We had a good game yesterday and want to work with that for the future.

So true. I'm Portuguese and have been telling my friends to not expect an easy game. Luxembourg have progressed really well. 4 years ago I almost moved there for a coaching role but ended up in Australia. Have a real soft spot for you guys!
I remember Luxemburg game last year here in Serbia, we beat them only 3-2 and they looked great when they were attacking something you would expect from Hungary or similar teams, not sure about Luxemburg defense though, it seemed as bad as ours xD

The truth is that small nations with competent leadership improved a lot because a lot of the football nowadays is about physicality, and physical fitness can be improved substantially regardless of talent.

They keep trying to fish Irish eligible players in England instead of well, having a good league or helping Irish players from the island find good clubs abroad. When the likes of Grealish say no out of hand, Ireland are in trouble.
Gone are the teams of 1990 and 1994 with an arguably majority non-Ireland born team.
It doesnt matter where local Irish players want to play, EPL or somewhere else, but local league and youth system also shall be strengthen to regenerate quality youngsters.
Lucky for Irish national players, some of them can play on better league.
My countrymen are still struggle to play in Europe. Yeah some youngsters are lucky to play in Croatia, Poland, or Serbia leagues, but they are still struggle to be selected to main team, even they play above average in reserve or 2nd team.

I think it's high time that the FAI take a long, hard look at the grass roots football in Ireland and put more money in to our league. Benchwarmers from the lower English leagues just won't cut it. It breaks my heart to see such an abysmal Irish team. No one can tell me that this team will be successful in any way, shape or form.
