As a tamil guy i have noticed all those national award won heros in tamil either died or defeated or overcame hurdles in a painful way possible in those movies.This enabled them to emote more naturally.This is accompanied with some awesome music that brings tears to audience.A telugu friend of mine asked me way back after watching pithamagan in college"hero climax lo chachipothe ela oppukuntaaru raa meeru?"

Trust me you’re absolutely on point about tollywood movies (Not all but most of them). And don’t even give a sh*t about others opinions/comments. And you don’t have to give justification/explanation about your opinions. Instead my advise for you is to review few Malayalam movies for a month to make them realise what actual movie making is and to know where we actually stand when compared to malayalam movies, We will share you several malayalam movies in the recent past which are very engaging and impressed all audiences even without a single commercial element. For instance Jana gana mana, Lucifer, ayyappanum koshiyum, Trance, Kumbalangi nights, Android kunjappan, Banglore days, Advocate mukundan unni, Premam, Corona papers and so on. Just look at the story lines of the above movies and then we’ll realise what actual movie making is and how a story should be actually narrated. Since I started watching malayalam movies, I pity on our present telugu movies and directors except few like Shekhar kammula and Rajamouli garu. There’s a movie on even a small element like social policing in Malayalam, its name is Ishq which is just to give a message how social policing affects the lives of 2 individuals. Does any tollywood director or producer has the guts to make such movies without a single commercial element? Infact more than Kerala our Telugu states suffer the most from social policing nowadays.
Please I request you to review the above mentioned movies in the next few weeks as they are easily available on OTT.

You just have to accept --- Telugu movies are more about commercial and mass appeal and we have lost our way from the good mix we used to have, where sensible cinema existed in parallel with commercial movies. Even mainstream heroes used to maintain those two tracks (Rudraveena and Yamudiki Mogudu released in same year). However, some new young directors are doing well like you said in the other video. I think the glory will come back, the pendulum will swing our way. No worries.

Ironically many foreign YT channels stated that outlets like Variety etc were saying there were inside talks that if RRR was nominated for best foreign film it had very high chances to win because of the high reception from audiences wherever they screened it and they felt it was a different film seperate from a typical hollywood flavour film and they were confused why the Indian film board didn't send RRR as a nomination

RRR movie won Oscar due to PR🤦Unless there is Organic hype for the movie, money dumping will not get you anywhere. There was organic hype for the movie in the west and people were cheering,hooting and dancing. That itself is something we should be proud of. It gave recognition to Indian cinema. None of these can be generated through only PR. People in the west were pushing movie for the Oscar more than Indians. It deserved a nomination in main category that was the hype for the movie. Best song is no less it made people shake a leg irrespective of culture. That itself is a big achievement. No need to make an achievement less to make your point. Another fallacy you might have forgot!!!
What it is doing in Japan is no less. It is a cultural phenomenon there. How would you compare that. What about the awards it got in New York institute. Is it less compared to a national award?
What about making Indian cinema as one identity through Bahubali? Is it any less an achievement? Name any other movie maker across India who gave this courage to regional film industries?
Bahubali made people discover regional film industries. It is no less achievement to national award.
Satya was also from Telugu film maker who inspired one of the best directors anurag kashyap and a parallel industry in Bollywood. How would you compare this for an achievement?
Not every achievement can be compared through awards and awards too are no less. We have few things to be proud. Don't completely sideline all the achievements to make your point.
Every industry has a phase. We too had and current phase is a silver lining.
I think barbell has the heart in the right place and he is genuinely trying to lift the level of expectations that Telugu audiences have for movies. I agree with most of his points.
To play devil's advocate here's my thoughts on this issue and why this is an issue.
1. No one wants to make a bad movie. People want to make good movies and what "good " means differs from person to person. Wanting to make a movie that gives more earnings than the budget is the base line for most producers. Movies like khadgam, pelli choopulu, rudraveena, aa naluguru, etc. ( I like these movies as movies. No commercial formula. Good story in my opinion) are very good. If they don't get national awards, their value is not diminished. So quality ledu ani we can't tell.
2. Pakka states are doing better than us. Correst only . I think some industries are more risk taking than others. We have to concede there. It is just that we make lets say 5 risky movies for every 100 and tamil makes 15 and malayalam make 25 risky movies. We are not competing with the other industries right that's why we are happy with 5 risks.
Also if ayyapanum koshyum is a hit story , we can always remake it in telugu. So why do the risk when our neighbours are doing it for us. Its not roght but its not wrong.
My point is - risks are risky.
3. We make good movies. Tamil thopu etc ani cheppadam based on their success at national awards is not fully fair because they remake telugu movies too. If we are substandard why would others redo our below par films?
Bottom line - can we make chiru do a national award worthy film? I think we should let him decide. The onus is on the directors. It is insulting to say that pedda stars lekapote movie hit avvadu. Is there a dearth of acting talent in ap/tg? Make movies with stories with small actors. Chiru, nag, venky, balayya, etc did their fair share of great movies. We can always do better we should. We can make better movies than the korean oscar winner parasite. We as in anyone can - even tulu , gujju, tamil, telugu etc. Everyone can. The audience should also be receptive of it for it to make sense to try attempting a masterpiece.
P.S. add your opinions to the reply if you disagree or agree with any of my points. The whole point is that no two audience is the same. ✌️
I agree with all points but 2 and point is about remake bollywood literally over dependent on remakes and industry is going through crisis once they use to make good films but remake culture spoiled industry now slowly they are changing but we have good directors and story writers remakes may be benefit for some time but after all it's remake because of ss rajamouli we got attention but our film makers are going opposite to it and again other industry will troll us for remake and we fight between us as karan johar said we have budgets stars but we have only one rajamouli

Every movie is available with subtitles and making a remake of another movie without proper addition of nativity or personal touch is just a money grab. Again playing devil's advocate - from a producer pov, remake known success story 2-3 times. People will watch it enough to give small profit. Then make average original film. It will be a hit because it is not a remake. Eg Pathan. Very normal plot. But hot because of sentiment. This itself is money making for producers without having to take risks. So again. Audience have to be ruthless as barbell says.

I agree with most of your points. But music is subjective. I personally love Keeravani sir's bgm work. And he is one of the best 'original' sound composers we have. (Pls ignore some of his copy work).

u r the only 1 youtuber I have seen who can speak frankly with logics.
Tollywood produces most worst logic less movies world wide as per my understanding.
Keeping the audience in the seats for 1 hr is almost impossible for them.This is the reason Telugu audience are shifting to other languages and other continent's content even we do not understand the language but depending on the sub titles.
I am happy to take that extra effort to watch those type of creative content rather than watching our ROTTA content.
It applies to web series also...
I recently started watching old(15 to 20 years old) English's web series which are tying me to stick to the end of those episodes...
most recent one is HOMELAND..
Hindi web series are some what better in these couple of years.
I am sure every Tollywood director & producer noticed that audience are moving towards world wide content and habituated to new creative content...but they are dead slow to catch them up..
It will takes at least 10 to 20 years to think & work like them...
