Comparison is always an ungrateful task and usually comes down to personal preference. Pierre Hantai and Marco Mencoboni are nor "worse" or "better", but also great in their own way. Thanks Internet for the possibility to enjoy the best and compare without rivalry ;)
You could feel the "terror"of Bach's music gripping you soul and body in an infinite spiral. Simply devastating, equally if not more satisfying than any full-scale Romantic symphony!
This piece, together with Chromatic fantasia/fugue, is very clearly a Bach showcase of the possibilities of equal temperament, apart from WTC. Too bad the fugue for this one was unfinished, also very daring and ahead of its time. These pieces were appropriately included in Ulrich Thein movie about Bach. Handel, on the other hand, never accepted equal temperament and was thus left confined within simple tonalities and modulations.
@@VitaliyGR Bach did not use equal temperament. He used a well-tempered tuning system, similar to (but not identical to) those of Werckmeister, Rameau, and Kirnberger (the latter being one of his students). He wrote the Well-Tempered Clavier, not the Equal-Tempered Clavier. Equal temperament(*) was already known, but did not catch on widely (with the possible exception of instrumental groups lacking a keyboard instrument) until later. (*)Not just 12 tone equal temperament either . . . but the other sizes never caught on widely in Western music.
I don't know of any harpsichordist performing today who is better than Diego Ares.

What a wonderful piece and interpretation! Thank you, Mr. Ares, for uploading this.
Magnificent instrument. I wish more of these had been made.

Fantastisch! Unglaublich elektrisierend. Ich freue mich immer auf neue Aufnahmen von Ihnen.

Another wonderful performance.
¡Qué maravilla, Diego, sois fantásticos: Bach, tú y el instrumento!
Millones de gracias por estas palabras!!! 🥰
Absolutely stunning…! I was breathless. And so good to see the Landowska manner of moving the fingers. And the instrument! What a sound.
¡Madre del amor hermoso!, ¡Qué maravilla!, clavecinista y clave hacen justicia sin par a esta pieza.
Muchísimas gracias, Antonio!
Absolutely wonderful ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Eloy querido, qué alegría que te guste!!!

Thank you for this power.
I can't help thinking that you achieve this astounding performances despite the Landowskian hands position, not thanks to it. All the more respect.
Instant like, from the first chords.
Hat off…to J.S. Bach and Diego Ares too 😊👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😊💐

This is what happened when Bach was ripping lines of snuff in the back yard of the Thomaskirche.
Based.

❤❤❤
Mil gracias, querido Jesús!
Look at that hand position. He's like the anti-Horowitz.
Thank you 🥰
Is it a Hass Harpsichord?
That harpsichord is a lethal weapon
copy based on an originial three-manual instrument made by hass around 1740 in Hamburg
But, but! In Baroque music you’re not allowed to do chromatic scales like that! - is what my composition teacher told me. Scarey or what?!
Edta muy padre la interpretación aunque siento que esta algo tenso el cñor en su tecnica...
