When I used to do commercial painting of hotels I would carry dozens of those pales of mud (and dozens of buckets of paint) up multiple flights of stairs, and I’d prep every room (poly/paper), paint every room, and do the ceilings in whatever they’d want, then do tear down & clean up. It was a tough job but it was rewarding especially when I’d blow guys away with how much heavy lifting & work I’d do. Almost every day me and my boss (and occasionally another worker - usually he’d just dogf-ck all day though whenever he did work with us, which wasn’t often for that reason) would be the first ones there and the last ones to leave. A few days (depending on how big the job was) per hotel and we’d finish the contract. The pay was phenomenal so that played a huge role into why I’d push myself so hard. I’ve never seen that kind of money since. Job ended because boss got injured pretty bad and I hadn’t been working anywhere near long enough to cover for him while he healed. Was great while it lasted though. Taught me a lot and furthermore it made my dad proud of me which is pretty hard to get from a narcissist.
