    This was very well thought out and a unique take on a movie that's been essayed to death. I think precisely because the violence has become "too real", it's more important than ever for someone to step up to the plate and attempt to make a Heathers-esque movie that's respectful of real life shootings and such without being some bland preachy lifetime PSA. You're right though, it's a pretty daunting task. But if they could talk about suicide back then when no one was really talking about it, surely someone has the guts to break through censorship/cancel culture/whatever enough now to talk about what's behind the adolescent problems of today.

    I've been sitting her for years feeling this way about Heathers. Thank you for putting my stance on this classic film into a well stated, thought provoking essay.

    I’m just here to say that I noticed the gorgeous string cover of Chop Suey, and I wholeheartedly approve. Makes me wonder if the other songs used are also relevant gems that I just didn’t recognize. Either way, well done. 😂

    You forgot Pretty Little Liars
    Alison was the Queen Bee of her school/town just Heather Chandler. And she was claim to be dead like Heather Chandler even though Alison was still alive.

    I LOVED watching this movie when I was 13. I vividly remember it standing out in my mind compared to the other teen movies that me and my sister would put on. This video honestly gave me a refreshing perspective on it, one that makes me want to watch it again. You’re very talented, keep up the great work!

    There is no modern equivalent because no generation since GenX were left to come of age while the restraints of the old traditional structure were crumbling but the concerns about mental health, violence, etc of the new structure hadn’t started to arise. We knew stuff was darker, not tougher like economically, but sort of psychologically or spiritually but older generations still said just suck it up.

    People don’t get Heathers today. Go watch reactions and people don’t grasp it at all. Dark comedy is dead cause people want to be offended not challenged.

    My stupid thought I had today watching this
    Is that *class of 09*
    Is the closest equivalent of modern era heathers because it is a satire of EARLY 2000’s teen hood

      Did you even try to understand the point of the video?????? That's such an irrelevant part of the overall message...

    • @EmoComicWriter
      @EmoComicWriter 2 роки тому +3

      @@garretturmym6332 of course I did. The only irrelevant thing here is your reaction to my comment. I didn't say anything negative, I pointed out an ironic fact. The point of the video is that Heathers is the most influential teen film of all time and it wouldn't work again today. I didn't disagree with that by pointing out that it clearly took those names from Archie comics. Go troll something else.

    • @garretturmym6332
      @garretturmym6332 2 роки тому +4

      @@EmoComicWriter Just because they use the same names doesn't mean that it is copied from somewhere else. For instance, you're possibly younger than Justin Bieber, but I doubt your parents would name you after Justin Bieber (or vice versa). Regardless, I misunderstood you the first time, and I thought you were being needlessly negative. My apologies!

      @@garretturmym6332 hahahaha! I WISH I was younger than Bieber! I'm barely younger than Timberlake.
      It's certainly not a guarantee that they thought of Betty and Veronica from Archie, but it's so classic and such a perfect match of 2 girls who were friends but split after one got popular that I feel like it's highly likely.
