I can’t compartmentalize, I loathed this movie. This adaptation was pure shit. It diminished every aspect of the book that made it impossible to get over. It wasn’t a romcom. Not in the slightest. The reductive depiction of the main characters and the decision that was made to cheapen and dumb down the source to make it relatable was heartbreakingAF. Read the book! You’ll understand why people love it. Trust.
As a devout Hayesolnut, this adaptation made me sooo sad, in repsect to what it could have been. Unfortunately, I can't seem to separate the two.
