I can’t compartmentalize, I loathed this movie. This adaptation was pure shit. It diminished every aspect of the book that made it impossible to get over. It wasn’t a romcom. Not in the slightest. The reductive depiction of the main characters and the decision that was made to cheapen and dumb down the source to make it relatable was heartbreakingAF. Read the book! You’ll understand why people love it. Trust.

As a devout Hayesolnut, this adaptation made me sooo sad, in repsect to what it could have been. Unfortunately, I can't seem to separate the two.

AMAZING!!!!

Browsing Eaton in the UK was one of the most memorable parts of my trips to the country. The entire town is kind of dedicated to the college - the little shops lining the little old streets sell uniforms to the students, the book stores, the vintage book stores, etc. The tiny college houses that are multiple centuries old (and they look it - I think the college was founded in the 16th century), the more grand college buildings, the students swishing by in their black uniform cloaks - the whole thing looked magical. Interestingly enough, very few tourists walk over the bridge that connects the town of Windsor where the famous Windsor castle is and where the train station is and Eaton. While it’s a very short walk and the two towns kind of merge. It felt during both my trips to Eaton as if I was the only tourist browsing the streets there.

Just finished this book. I wholeheartedly enjoyed this way better than Love and Other Words. I’m so in love with this book. I do have some questions though because the writing leaves things implied but not fully clarified. Ugh.
