As cool as this car is, I just can't imagine living with it knowing that its days are so numbered. I don't like the idea of it not having another decade or two in it - and I'm not sure if I could live with that anxiety
That's how I felt when I bought my 99' Corolla 5spd for $800 w/224k miles lol. It was a bit of a rust bucket, but man...that thing was absolutely mint on the inside. It sucked knowing that I was the 3rd and possibly last owner of the car. I donated it after I blew the motor, but I know it probably ended up in a junkyard somewhere, hopefully it got parted out honestly. Best $800 spent to date.
I remember being like 10 or 11 and my dad had a little 87 Toyota Tercel and he once told me and my brother that his options were THAT or the celica/Supra OR the Corolla sport GT-S… When I found out what they were I wanted one so bad… go forward 20 years now that I can “afford” one They’ve gone up “one hundred million faffilion” percent in market value… I just wish the car market was like it was 10 years ago..
That's exactly how I'd have an AE86, rusty but not structurally rusty. I have a tercel 4wd that is rusty like that and an 89 MR2 that me and my brother cut up and made a "rally" car but it's got some structural rust in the front.

The floors (and most structural parts) are actually in alright shape, it’s the bottom 10-15% of the exterior that’s just fully rotted away. 👊🏻
