God I love my TT RS. Had it for a full year now, starting to really mod it a bit and it feels like I joined a cult, haha. Seems like most owners of the TT RS (including TT and TTS as well) are pretty fanatic about their cars. I see it in the RS3 as well. Then again you can say that about a lot of sportscar platforms, but I frequently bump into folks who comment on it, or reminisce about that time they had a TT, etc. Something about that 5 cylinder engine.
Thankfully the Mk3 preserved that glorious exhaust note (at least in the sport exhaust)! Just posted a vid of that, actually.

Watching this once more. I want to ride in or drive one of these so badly. I’m in the market for another enthusiast car, but unfortunately the corona market has put these out of reach once again.

Turbomacs looks amazing on this car.
You need to get yourself an APR tune. I have had them on a few of my Audi's, and they are awesome for reliability.

Cool mods and similar to what I have in regards to suspension and in the same order..rear sway bar and a fast road geometry set up..works wonders. I did however opt for KW coilovers due to not liking the damping of the OEM rear shocks.
Borla exhaust sounds great too...do you get any highway drone at all compared to stock ?

curious, does the suspension you have tie into the oem magride? or does it just bypass it? how much approximately was it to get installed? my oem mag ride is blown in the rear of my TTs and im looking into the best option to replace it.
and yeah, like others have said, get it tuned, apr stage 2 will change up your exhaust tone significantly. you'll like it.

I actually sold my TT-RS! Crazy I know, but my wife and I are trying to by another home right now and need the cash. I loved this car, but with used prices as low as they are, I can always get another one in the future. If you get one, do the MSS kits suspension and a cold air intake first. The MSS suspension is still my favorite kit I've ever driven on. They just released a kit for the MK7 Golf R and we filmed a review on my friends car. It handles sooo good! FRONT: Camber MAX negative your tuner can get thus -1.3+ /// TOE 0 or -0.1 works though not too much
REARS: Keep it OEM thus Camber -1.20 /// Toe +0.12

How tall are you? I'm 6'3 weighing 230lbs also and this is one of my dream cars but have not had a chance to sit in this generation TT. However I was very comfortable in the MK1.
I am also 6'3" and currently 215, but used to weigh almost 240. I fit in the car with a helmet no problem, but not much room to spare. Seats are plenty comfortable, not too tight at all.
so i'm torn between the new BMW M2 or picking up one these babies, would love your input.
Saw this question a few days ago, and I've been giving it some serious thought for you. Price would be a big factor for me. You can probably get a TT-RS for about $15k less than a new M2, and I don't think the M2 is worth that premium over the Audi. Dollar for dollar, I would take an M2. It has a wide body, manual or Dual clutch, and a very playful feel to it. I'd recommend checking out Nick Murrary's review of the M2: ua-cam.com/video/L4vf9mKL5EI/v-deo.html The Audi interior, and the 5 Cyl engine is better than the M2, its also lighter by a couple hundred pounds. With a few mods the TT will handle like a dream, but it will never be as playful as the M2. Do you want precision or tail out fun? I do think the M2 is a great value for the $$$. My TT-RS had a $67k sticker in 2012. Now 4 years later, the M2 is mid $50s brand new.
hey man i really appreciate your input. went with the TTRS and couldn't be happier, dealer delivered it across state lines to my work last week =D. easily the best money i've spent. with everything said and done i paid $50.5k. the AWD just makes so much more sense in michigan and so far this week i've found myself looking for excuses to drive whereas before i was pretty 'meh' about by BMW 228i X-Drive. i'm wondering if there are 17 inch wheels that fit this car but i doubt it because of bolt pattern and brake size. wheels are the first thing i'm going to change, currently have the stock 19s (looking for smaller and lighter because performance and also crap roads in michigan), snow tires go on soon. i want a lip spoiler too so if you know of any let me know! where did you get the figure of 3,250 pounds? everywhere i've looked i see 3,306/3,307 pounds being stated. finally, i'm thinking of doing a back seat delete and was wondering your thoughts on that. i want more storage room and to lighten the car a bit, might as well since they are never used by me. ever.

when you get this thing tuned redo the video. might want to upgrade the pads and rotors. that's when things get really fun!
I actually sold the car a couple weeks ago! Crazy I know, but I don't regret it...yet haha. I did have different pads on it, and loved the braking capabilities during tackdays. I am a little sad I never tuned it, but it always just felt so fast!!

MSS Kits might make a kit for Non-magride cars. I would check them out first and see what they recommend. The MSS suspension was night and day to anything else I tried. I also had H&R springs and KW V3 coilovers. Both were way too soft for the TT-RS.
I have always liked the 2nd gen TT but this RS is badass. 360 HP out of a 2.5 5 Cylinder isn't bad....but I'm scared of the maintenance and the size lol

How would you compare this car to the stage 2 mk7 R you reviewed recently?
+laznsher Very close! We should have raced each other, and maybe will in the future. I would say a Stage 2 Golf R with DSG would pull on a stock TT-RS off the line because of launch control. Top end though, its tough to say, but it felt really close.
if you have dsg on the golf r you will stomp on the tt rs.
the new tt rs coming out for 2017, not a chance. only comes with dsg and 400hp. 2017 tt rs with apr stage 2. wow that will be a beast. with stage 3 i couldnt wven imagine. go hunt down gtr.

I have a stage 3 ttrs 8j aned have been looking for the borla exhaust and i cant find anything on it, did you have a borla muffler put on the stock piping or was it a full exhaust? what borla muffler was on ther kit though? have a picture or part number?
Nice! It is the Borla ATAK Dual-Pipe Cat-Back w/ X-Pipe + Exhaust Diffuser (Option)
I don't think they sell the optional diffuser add--on anymore, which is a shame. I got mine direct from Borla because they used my car for a month to develop the exhaust.

i toasted a mk7 golf R on the highway the other day: from 70 mph neck and neck i never left 5th, put her in sixth when i was several car lengths ahead for fuel efficiency only. bone stock other than lightweight wheels and a back seat delete.
How low do you gave the MSS kit? I am looking to go low, but the reviews on the MSS show it is a minimal drop
The front is all the way down in almost all the shots. It goes about zero gap in the front. But it will still ride/handle great at that level.
Does it got the ecu tune after all?

Hi! Did you seperate the knob from the trim from a1? And then putted OEM trim from ttrs to the a1 knob?
Yes, exactly! I used the OEM boot and only the Knob from the A1. Still my favorite shift knob ever!!

Mainly the cold air intake. The de-catted downpipe also added a little more turbo noise. Thanks!

Still rocking the CC R-Line as my daily, and now on track also (check my latest Fastivus video). I did buy a 94 Corrado to "replace" the TT-RS as my weekend/fun car.

Does this TTRS use Haldex AWD ?
Yes. The gen 2 TTRS uses a gen 4 haldex

No tune or downpipe?
Nah, I never tuned it. I never daily drove the car so every time I drove it, it felt stupid fast. The car did have a de-catted factory downpipe though. Matched with a Borla catback and CTS Turbo intake it sounded AMAZING!!!
What Audi color is the car?
+David Szweda Its Suzuka Grey - LOVE this color. Always looks different depending on the light. Usually just looks white, but when not in direct sunlight it can look grey, and even has a slight blue hue to it as well.

How you've been able to have this car for this long and not tune it is beyond me. Either you have some superhuman self control or you just haven't been bitten by the speed/hp bug.

hahha, I know!! Believe, all my buddies say the same thing. Truth is, I don't drive the car consistently enough to get used to the speed. My other cars aren't that fast, so when I hop in the TT-RS, it feels insane to me.

Disagree.. y’all are probably used to seeing a more DAPPER or KLEEN look with wheel choice and that’s clearly not that route he’s going..
He bought a performance beast inline 5- turbo TTRS.. which deserves to be driven, which we can clearly see in the video. So he is going with TRACK inspired performance look..
Wheel and tire combo looks meatty and grippy, all of what you would see at a track
