I recommend layering fishermans knots as the knots on the enbroidery thread. It's a super simple yet thick knot that you can make as thick as you need depending on how many times you loop it.

You have to press both corners really hard and make it as flat as you can and then cut slightly outside the puffed part as showed @ 3:27.. keep practicing.. you can definitely do it 👍👍
