So in 1980 I was CHP. I was w/b on I 10 and a group of 10-12 Hells Angels in the fast lane passing all. I pulled up next to the leader and motioned down (55 mph) .. after a nod, all slowed …. Pure respect
I remember pulling up to Dumonts bar on my bike in El Cajon not knowing it was an HA bar in the early 2000's. Coldest beer in town! The bartender was a nice blonde lady that schooled me about the SD biker scene. God Bless her..
This shit is interesting to more people than you'd think. I remember the first time i ever seen any Hells Angels. I was a little kid. Probably 5 or 6 or so. Ii was with my mom and dad in our car on our way to the zoo in Memphis Tennessee. We were waiting in a traffic jam at an on ramp to the interstate. I don't know which interstate but i started hearing the rumble of the bikes and i love motorcycles from birth so i stood up and started looking around. All of a sudden the bikes were passing us in between the two lanes. We were at a dead stop. My mom said don't look at them. And my dad looked straight ahead and i could see he was scared. Dad was NEVER scared. But he was then. I was excited! It was the coolest thing i had ever seen! That was early 70's so there was some cool ass bikes and they went past forever! They just kept coming and the people in the cars around us were scared too. That event stuck with me from then on. I went on to ride in a club. I wont say more than that about that. But i feel like Hells Angel history is important to gather while the guys that lived it are still here and we can get the true history.
@ lol they locked their doors too. But do you know how many of those bikers waved at me just smiling? More than half cause they could see my excitement im sure.
The funny thing about that story is that the hells angels had a charter in Memphis at the time, my father who's was law enforcement worked with a guy whose police dog 🐕 was a dog that the hells angels once had in there clubhouse they had in Memphis and the dog was crazy because the hells angels members fed him a bunch of LSD over the years lol!!!,so that dog was real crazy to work with but when it was time to get busy ,that dog handled business, and by the way ,the hells angels was so notorious in Memphis they got ran out of Memphis, but by the time I was born in 81 they were already gone.
DAGO 66' RIP Gypsy, it's a strange feeling being older than you were when you left this world, you seem like my child now and long to hold you and say it's going to be ok...Duane Jr
George, I truly am a fan of MC culture, and now an even bigger fan because of you, PLEASE consider sending out as many autographed books you can limited of course. I would pay 3 times the price of the book and even more, so since you are interested in preserving the history of the culture please see if it would be feasible. Thank you, soldier!
very interesting stuff. my pals and me started building on indians around '67. we knew some outlaw types back then and were definitely inspired by what we knew. which wasn't much. still, the bikes were definitely inspirational. and the spirit was contagious. thanks for a glimpse into the nuts and bolts of those clubs.
Your one of the few that I would stand on anything said,if you're the one saying it, and talking about another person the same thing is said whether they are standing beside ya or not around, the words are the same 🤝 dying breed
I still have my old newspaper clippings from the Varner's funeral back in the 70s. I'd like to say RIP to them, but they were murdered, so I highly doubt they're Resting In Peace right now to be honest...
I'm not part of this culture, I don't know any of these people, but after following this shit for the last few years because it's really interesting and cool, it seems to me that this guy's "out bad" designation should be changed
Sad to say, if yr doing real man outlaw shit and someone in yr crew gets pinched, someone new… someone that you really hadn’t gotten down with n took care of heavy work with its a hard road to go down. The doubts will set into paranoia and that’s when cracks appear and that can take everything and everyone down for life in a hot second. I learned that the very very hard way. Betrayal is a motherfkr!! It’s real n it hurts. After that hard lesson anything I did I did it alone by myself n didn’t even tell my life long childhood best friend/brother!! N we did a lot of stuff together through the 55 plus years I’ve known him n he never betrayed me for the most part lol, the outlaw shit is different than woman n chicks stuff, we had a understanding thou may the best man get her kinda deal 😆
I could listen to George Christie talk for days. He just tells it like it was back in the day. No nonsense, no avarice. 👍❤

I hung around Dumonts a lot back in the early 90’s. Lots of good times. I lived right down the street.

Ha! Similar situation for me. Heading north on vacation, and bikes started passing us. Dad said, "Lock the doors." This was late sixties.
