Hi LS Mark, I hope you're doing well! I'm currently developing a free streaming platform that's similar to Netflix but entirely free for users. I'm a big fan of your work, especially Cartoon Catching Up, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in collaborating. I'd love to feature Cartoon Catching Up on the platform. Could we discuss this further and explore how we can make this happen? Let me know the best way to get in touch with you. Looking forward to your response!
Was literally just talking to another UA-camr about a South Park channel that has been getting a bunch of views lately and seems to be using AI to at least partially write their scripts. (Not quite as lazy as these channels, but clearly being run by some big company, since the videos have been super polished from the beginning) I got in contact with one of their editors and learned that these types of channels have entire teams of people from all over the world working on them, that run multiple channels all doing the same thing. This is a huge rabbit hole.
Growing up one of the most fun things about finding new channels talk about shows I liked were how each creator had their own original ideas, style, and humor so knowing that kids now are just watching Watchmojo 2.0 is so annoying bruh
Yeah... it really feels increasingly hard to find channels that talks about things because they enjoy them and not chasing quick bucks. I still think about some random channel I found in like 2012 filmed in some dude's poorly lit basement, dressed up like Snake Plisken, talking about Dragon Ball, or a channel from 2008 that did biographies on Ranma 1/2 characters.
Y'know that option called "not interested"? The button you click after you've clicked the 3 dots? That is without a doubt gotta be the most useless feature on YT. @1:12-. I think you're giving chat GPT and AIs in general too much credit. You would have noticed all of the random, inconsistent inaccuracies. Okay, those would also exist in human written script, but there would be nay-guaranteed in AI written script.
idk if someone’s gonna find this, but it all started with the spongehenge theory video. that’s why the thumbnails look similar: they’re all trying to copy that one video
@@CutmanDrawz im gonna be honest, i'll take watchmojo over this bullshit. at least that was before the rise of AI, so there was SOME effort put into those videos. they put effort into stealing. this is just 0 effort content which is more infuriating because hundreds of people try to emulate it at the same time.
I feel you bro. I miss 2010s UA-cam so much. It used to be about the creators who made the site amazing but now it’s all business and stupid AI channels that are soulless.
I genuinely can't stand it when UA-cam channels make EVERYTHING move, by throttling, panning and zooming every single element on screen for every second of the video. It's a tactic TheRichest and it's dozens of side-channels use, some even using it as early as 2016 or even earlier. Bonus infuriating points if they use GIFs they found on Google Images as 'reactions' for the narrator.
As someone who watches Sweaty Clam, I am like 90% sure his scripts aren't AI. His own personality does show through his videos and words. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Sweaty Clam is a person who simply started this trend on accident. All the other channels with that style appeared AFTER he blew up from what I've seen
there is evidence that shows that sweaty clam's channel was hijacked and turned into this AI slop. his channel was created in 2007 and only now started uploading this content. that is 100% content farm evidence. don't support it, please.
Sweaty Clam is definitely a real person. You can sense they are still trying to find their style and voice in the videos. Heck go back to LS Mark earliest videos and notice Mark's style change from then to now. Now the other channels popping up like dollar generals are definitely just using A.i and copying Clam's simple thumbnail style (which was actually unique when he started)
Exactly. I personally really like his videos because I get to watch Family Guy without having to search or spend money to do so and I really do like his jokes/commentary.
@@thedragonofdalzell This is not true, the trend with the thumbnails started with karsten runquist many years before sweaty clam (specifically his spongehenge theory thumbnail because it got millions of views and instantly spawned copycats), it absolutely was not a unique or new style.
I'm honestly really glad you do care, I feel like this problem is going to get worse because UA-cam won't do anything about it. Why would they? It's giving them views...it's so depressing
7:20 I wonder if these are poached/phished channels. The weird family guy/simpson compilation uploads were often Eastern Euro/South East Asian or Middle Eastern channels that were either bought or phished and just had content dumped on it. A lot of them (Aside from the Clam guy who I think just started it) seem to have the same patterns as that phenomena
Remmeber when people hated watchmojo for being bland and robotic and for being a content farm God watchmojo has way more effort than these modern ai slop now days
I watched ONE UA-cam short of gravity falls because of nostalgia and now my whole UA-cam shorts section is just badly cropped gravity falls clips and 5% random videos from kids who don't know how to use their phone Edit: I'm literally pressing the "not interested/irrelevant" button and it always does nothing
I don’t know why, but that thing where some youtubers edit the text to have the captions pop up with only one word at a time gets on my nerves (although if there’s some relatively small, unintrusive captions that cover the full sentence i’m fine)
Anytime i think my content is shit or think that i didn't put enough effort into making a video, i just remember that there's some goober out there using an ai to make their videos for them and i instantly feel better about myself.
It's hard to find passionate creators any more and these content farm videos are just making it harder. And even though I probably have no right to be I am already pretty picky on the kind of content I want to watch and support. (Sorry to say I'm not a big fan of Ice Berg videos or content made in bad faith) and my interests are already pretty niche to begin with. It really just feels like passion is dead on here minus the few gems.
The thing is a guy named made2express had this thumbnail style and I really liked his channel but now everyone stole his flow so every time I think I'm gonna watch one of his videos I get hit with UA-cam slop and I feel sad inside
Last time when you talked about AI Farm Content I kept getting that content recommended to me despite never looking one up in my life. If the same happens here I may just have to deleted UA-cam and go into hiding
Honestly I found myself watching a couple of Sweaty Clam’s videos because his tone is so stupidly genuine while talking about Family guy plots that I kinda find him funny. That being said he’s like the Philadelphia McDonalds of video essays.
LSMark is the only subject capable of making an entire video to an issue that you could simply fix by disabling the autoplay option. A great guy and my respects.
On thing i wanna say, i really like your thumbnails a lot. I think it's a cool way to show off your art skills and it's a great way to visually represent what the video is about, giving viewers a interesting glimpse of the current topic. BUT THEY'RE CLICKBAIT! You put Brain griffin in every single one EVEN THO HE'S NOT IN THE VIDEO!!!!! I'm so MAD!
I also want to point out that for content creators who have been around for a long time, and recently so too I might add, that for me it's been a major factor as to why I've been demotivated to make content. I want to briefly talk about my experience. I'm in a weather documentary niche (I'm a meteorology major so it's in a field that I am studying in), and one of these random AI Content farms that does nothing but reupload stolen footage in hour long compilations, adds the Wikipedia intro article at the beginning and calls it a documentary. (In fact the descriptions are 1:1 from Wikipedia, they forgot to remove a citation number in one of the descriptions they made). One of the videos they made got double the views that I had gotten on an event I had covered in half the time. I'm not an expert at making my own videos stand out, the way that I format thumbnails and titles are based on how I did it once, it just so happened to work, and I kept that style. That channel ended up stealing the EXACT same thumbnail format and used it for their own channel. Not to mention there is a high likelihood that the channel in question is plagiarizing other channels, I wouldn't be surprised if some of these AI Channels in the video essay niche are doing the same. I go to the comments section and see the same few exact channels commenting over and over again, I genuinely think that some of the channels are being comment and view-botted, and most of them, are the same guy (mainly because the business email is the exact same). Seeing someone who abuses an algorithm for money and practically gives the finger to people who have a genuine passion for video creation just crushes my soul. I've never had the thought of going the AI Content farm route though, there's a piece of my mind that will not bend to caving to the algorithm full time, because then the job of content creation stops being fun, for me at least. The only way this is getting resolved is gonna involve some sort of ban on the kind of obvious AI content, or maybe with content being flagged as having AI in them, some setting in UA-cam's algorithm that acts as a way to prevent videos from blowing up (Something like how a video getting age restricted pretty much ruins the chances of that video being bigger than your audience). I would love that to happen, but I know that is never going to happen as much as I think it should. The only reason as to why I cannot quit doing what I do is because, as a college student, what I earn from ad revenue alone is higher than any part time jobs around me are willing to pay, and given that college is expensive, I just gotta take a deep breath and keep going forward. Still doesn't mean that I feel disheartened when I see one of these AI content farms infiltrate my recommended, it definitely takes a toll on honest creators who are just now getting bigger.
yeah i agree with you mark, those thumbnails are annoying. like most of those videos just has lazy thumbnails, and the videos are even worse with the most unoriginal ideas ever, like come on YOU COULD DO BETTER THAN THAT
I hate those video where you think there's something interesting going to be discussed. Only to found that the video is primarily verbatim retelling of everything that has occurred within that episode. Painfully patting out the runtime in making it painfully obvious that this is algorithm slop.
Same thing happened with the creepypasta reading. Few years back they were everywhere and doing massive numbers. Now the only remaining ones get less then 100k views
The original manga was better, no idea why they changed the setting, character names (Maggie to Stewie?) hell they flipped several character relations around, I'm convinced the studio were more focused on getting their weird ships animated instead... ah you know, being a GOOD adaptation?
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. I've been inundated with SpongeBob videos of the exact same form and style. There are like 7 or 8 different channels (all fairly new to UA-cam, like channels made within the last 2 years) who are essentially posting the same video on each channel, all within the same week of each other. Like, what the actual freak is happening? 🤦♂🤦♂
I think another reason the thumbnails are formatted the way they are is to draw people's attention in, and to allow themselved to get (NOT CLICK) baited. I can relate them more to the old Spongehenge essay video that got as popular as it was due to the fact it WASN'T catching your attention.
Pro tip: If you click/tap those 3 little dots next to a video you can then click/tap "not interested" and that will quickly solve this sort of slop videos from showing up
Can't wait for this to go full circle & these AI channels start doing UA-cam videos. "LSMark's Most Epic Owns Ever" & it's just your videos being narrated over.
The thumbnail style actually been popular for quite some time in film review community, famously used by Karsten Runquist, but yeah i think its just the new trend replacing the classic red circle and arrow thumbnails.
Can you make a update video to ranking every (blank) episode ever after it releases 5 to 7 new seasons (if the show is still airing) and make a video where you rank every bob's burger episode and one where you rank every Futurama episode please.
9:50 Mark i literally love your channel, but it’s the same exact thing, we watch your videos for the cool content, you make em for money and notoriety, that’s the internet
also no i don’t think those channels that are faceless and low effort/AI care if people actually like their stuff, it’s for money, takes 30 minutes to make one of those videos or 5 minutes to outsource one, it’s for money, i doubt they care fr, just looking at Sweaty Clams, he’d made like $5k+
Yeah, but he actually puts effort into his content and it’s actually good. Besides, he already said that the creators of those channels probably don’t care.

HOLY SHIT, I saw one of those videos thinking it was just mediocre, I never realise they were AI Generated, what the fuck?!!!
@1:12-. I think you're giving chat GPT and AIs in general too much credit. You would have noticed all of the random, inconsistent inaccuracies. Okay, those would also exist in human written script, but there would be nay-guaranteed in AI written script.
The world of UA-cam Automation is actually horrible
Its insane how they can give stewie 10 worst things but eric only has 6

idk if someone’s gonna find this, but it all started with the spongehenge theory video. that’s why the thumbnails look similar: they’re all trying to copy that one video
UA-cam is becoming so terrible…..like I miss 2010s UA-cam
Meanwhile 2010 youtube has WatchMojo
@@CutmanDrawz im gonna be honest, i'll take watchmojo over this bullshit. at least that was before the rise of AI, so there was SOME effort put into those videos. they put effort into stealing. this is just 0 effort content which is more infuriating because hundreds of people try to emulate it at the same time.
I feel you bro. I miss 2010s UA-cam so much. It used to be about the creators who made the site amazing but now it’s all business and stupid AI channels that are soulless.
There are still great videos that come out recently, you are literally commenting under one right now.
Cry loser 😂
I genuinely can't stand it when UA-cam channels make EVERYTHING move, by throttling, panning and zooming every single element on screen for every second of the video. It's a tactic TheRichest and it's dozens of side-channels use, some even using it as early as 2016 or even earlier. Bonus infuriating points if they use GIFs they found on Google Images as 'reactions' for the narrator.
I like to think this was originally just a way to avoid inane copyright flagging before it started becomnig a meme for the sake of doing it.
I have the same opinion, I’m not a fan of Family Guy but I like his videos. Plus he uses his community tab which makes me think he’s real but idk
3:31 ad ends
7:20 I wonder if these are poached/phished channels. The weird family guy/simpson compilation uploads were often Eastern Euro/South East Asian or Middle Eastern channels that were either bought or phished and just had content dumped on it.
A lot of them (Aside from the Clam guy who I think just started it) seem to have the same patterns as that phenomena
You have to delete them from your UA-cam watch history. UA-cam uses your watch history as part of calculating your recommended(s).
Remmeber when people hated watchmojo for being bland and robotic and for being a content farm
God watchmojo has way more effort than these modern ai slop now days

4:27 thank you for calling this out. It’s hard to find a True Crime video that’s not just an AI voice over
1:34 I feel the same way mark
I watched ONE UA-cam short of gravity falls because of nostalgia and now my whole UA-cam shorts section is just badly cropped gravity falls clips and 5% random videos from kids who don't know how to use their phone
Edit: I'm literally pressing the "not interested/irrelevant" button and it always does nothing
Delete the original video. The recommendations should go away
If the same happens here I may just have to deleted UA-cam and go into hiding
its happening to me, getting a lot of those cartoon png with white background videos now
Honestly I found myself watching a couple of Sweaty Clam’s videos because his tone is so stupidly genuine while talking about Family guy plots that I kinda find him funny. That being said he’s like the Philadelphia McDonalds of video essays.
7:36 anyonr else watch Mark this exact same way?
I find it hilarious how Mark listens to his own videos as workout motivation
LSMark is the only subject capable of making an entire video to an issue that you could simply fix by disabling the autoplay option. A great guy and my respects.

Man this video kinda shows how painfully unaware you are of the content you make and the corner of the UA-cam space you find yourself in
I had this in the background while looking for old DVDs
Find anything good?
On thing i wanna say, i really like your thumbnails a lot.
I think it's a cool way to show off your art skills and it's a great way to visually represent what the video is about, giving viewers a interesting glimpse of the current topic.
BUT THEY'RE CLICKBAIT!
You put Brain griffin in every single one EVEN THO HE'S NOT IN THE VIDEO!!!!!
I'm so MAD!
The New Terrifying UA-cam *metaVERSE*
Still doesn't mean that I feel disheartened when I see one of these AI content farms infiltrate my recommended, it definitely takes a toll on honest creators who are just now getting bigger.
yeah i agree with you mark, those thumbnails are annoying.
like most of those videos just has lazy thumbnails, and the videos are even worse with the most unoriginal ideas ever, like come on YOU COULD DO BETTER THAN THAT
I'm glad ur speaking about this issues but I think auto play giving u a content farm says more about the type of content you watch
I think it's funny you got a factor sponsor because they use the same style as the thumbnails
that emergency broadcast sound actually scared tf outta me.
Ive never watched family guy, but i HAVE watched it’s anime adaptation: south park
The original manga was better, no idea why they changed the setting, character names (Maggie to Stewie?) hell they flipped several character relations around, I'm convinced the studio were more focused on getting their weird ships animated instead... ah you know, being a GOOD adaptation?

What's the difference?
Good thing I know how to have a personality and take months to write a script so I don’t sound soulless.
I knew I wasn't the only one noticing this
6:02 ah yes, "lowk"

These videos have big pregnant elsa spiderman joker hulk fingerling family vibes, but for adults
Pro tip: If you click/tap those 3 little dots next to a video you can then click/tap "not interested" and that will quickly solve this sort of slop videos from showing up

The thumbnail style actually been popular for quite some time in film review community, famously used by Karsten Runquist, but yeah i think its just the new trend replacing the classic red circle and arrow thumbnails.
This is the kind of stuff my dad watches

@@westinian3144thank you my guy
as a creator, i do find it a bit pressuring that someone can make these low effort videos in a matter of days, if not hours, whereas it takes me a couple months to have a video released, i like to release stuff I'm proud of, and it just seems that people are doing this for money
This type of Shit is actually just insanely sickening
