I didn't even know the song was on there until I accidently left 'you' on while drawing and I couldn't switch songs. And then suddenly this beautiful song started playing xD
+liv my fav is is there someone who can watch you and then this. so many songs of theirs are unrrated bc people only like their popular stuff its right bs
***** same. Since I've never heard their EPs I thought it was part of You. But then when they performed it at the Itunes Festival I was really confused.
+Rainbowleopard315 Well, the song does exist guys. There's been an error on iTunes :0 if you listen to the song "You" the song "Milk" is actually within the 9:00 mins of that song. That's why it confused you all about existence of this track. @Jamilla Rahim / @ncdaking123 / @Im Just Me if you guess purchased the Deluxe Album from The 1975, You'll see what I'm saying (you all probably knew this already since it's been months of this release)
HOW CAN A SONG ABOUT A GIRL ADDICTED TO COCAINE BE SO GOOD????i mean how can i dance this like a crazy wtf this is so wrong but so right this is so the 1975
I can not find it on iTunes to purchase? saw them perform in Dallas in May, going again in November 24th !! AHHH!!!! I love their sound. Yeah, I was you're typical stoned 18 year old and now a 59 year old Nana. GRANDson C will be celebrating his 16 BDay there!
The 1975 reminds me of one of the teen movies from the 90s. Ones with the scenes of kids with sparklers and running around in a field. Or when they leave school and then they have a bonfire or a pool party or whatever. wow ok it’s like 4 years later pls excuse how cringey this comment sounds i was literally 14 (r/im14andthisisdeep) but like i don’t want to delete it bc a lot of people seem to agree with me
its funny how their songs give off that good feel vibe, while the lyrics are devastating. this song is about a girl who can't get over her ex and gets addicted to cocaine.
Straight lines that unwind you She does a little thing with her eye that says, "We're off soon" She says the bleeding's incidental 'cause she's so cool She says it's no fun if you've only a bottle of wine And now she's doing it all the time Yeah, she's doing it all the time Slow down Yeah, I want you She does a little bit on the sly that shows what she's up to She started talking about pretending she's listening It won't mend your heart if it's only a couple of lines And now she's doing it all the time Yeah, she's doing it all the time Yeah, she's doing it all the time Yeah, she's doing it all the time Yeah, she's doing it all the time
People complain about how 'younger kids don't listen to good music these days' and when they do it's about how pretentious they're being? It's fucking great to see 14-15 year old kids listening to musicians like The 1975. It's all a learning process and about discovering music you love which then shapes you into who you are later on in life. That was my experience, and I'm glad teenagers are doing it today. Even if 'they think they're indie/hipster' the point is that the music is getting out there and being heard, so what's the problem? :/
Couldn't agree more! The problem, I believe, is that record labels just don't seem to want to take a punt on bands any more. A few years ago the charts were abundant with the likes of The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Razorlight, et. al. Unless it's dance-y computer generated cheese, or a one man band droning over the same acoustic dross, it doesn't seem to be as easily accessible. Glad The 1975 are flying the flag, just goes to show the market is still out there for bands. Just wish the record labels would change their tune. As you say, that coming of age romance with current music is a big part of your adolescent years. I hope the younger generation can enjoy and be inspired by The 1975's music for many years to come.
thanks! as a 15 year old teenager i personally love this band, i think there should be more bands like the 1975 because there music sends a message across and it actually makes sense unlike half the pop songs in the download charts today.
Ridz483 I've been listening to them since I was 14 and I'm 16 now. Yeah, it's so frustrating how the older generations get on at us for listening to mainstream rubbish when there is great bands like The 1975.
This is the kind of song that you just let lose to on a beach at 1 in the morning with only the closest people in your heart dancing with you. Oddly specific, I know, but that's just how I feel.
I think that's one of my favourite things about their music. Their music makes you feel a certain way that is oddly specific, and it's really cool. Each song creates its own atmosphere of emotions/feelings and thoughts. The 1975 is amazing ❤️
I remember this one time I was walking home from school, and this song came on after "you", and it instantly put me in a good mood, and I turn up the volume, and I just walk down the street looking up at the sky and the trees, feeling the breeze. I started dancing around a bit and bopping my head. It was such an amazing feeling. This song is one of my favourites man. So underrated.
Whenever this comes on shuffle, I always find myself here reading the comments for this song. Something is so beautiful and interesting to read the memories people associate the song with or what other people interpret the song's meaning as. This and You are both some of my all time favourite The 1975 songs - or my favourites ever. The feelings these songs have are simply irreplaceable.
the theory or a theory people have told me is that its supposed to symbolize how long it feels to be heart broken in a break up and then when they come back it feels so great so people have told me it feels like a life time waiting for love
It's legitimately not that deep. It's just a hidden track - it's a very common thing for bands to put huge gaps between songs. I mean, the gap from Something in the Way to Endless, Nameless off Nevermind is a huuuuge gap as well.
I've loved The 1975 for a while now but I'm actually still discovering all these songs I've never even heard about by them, like this one. I love all their songs omfg
I'm 16 and this band is my everything. I suffer from depression and anxiety but when I listen to them, I get relaxed and feel better. It doesn't matter what age you are. I know there are some fans that are so annoying and listening to Arctic Monkeys and The 1975 just to be "hipster" and "grunge" and that pisses me off. I listen to them because they are amazing at what they do and they make me happy not because they're sexy.
Thomas berget He is only human. *taps on nose* don't be rude. George is a sweetheart and Adam is a shy little puppy tho. Also, I think without George, Matty is a bit of a douche. With George he is fine.
James Garofalo Pffffft I actually laughed out loud when I read that. Milk is Cocaine. Please. "Staright lines, that unwind you" "If it's only a couple of lines". I'ts coke. Please
Well I feel awkward singing Chocolate put loud and it sounds legit now that I think about it omfg I've been singing about weed! Not chocolate....my life is a lie ahhahahahaha
Gareth Dowdall If a person gives me a present and I do not accept it, who does the present belongs to? The present belongs to the person who gave it. The word you gave, I cannot accept it, therefore it belongs to you.
I left their show a few hours ago, and I still cannot believe how fucking amazing it was when they played this song. Hearing this live was so beautiful and made me feel euphoric. The display was lightning strikes, and it went perfectly with the environment. We were all singing our asses off, dancing and feeling the music. I feel free and infinite listening to this, and I could never be more grateful.
do u know why they made it hidden though????? i was like so sad when i didnt see milk on the tracklist but I WAS FUCKING HYPER WHEN I HEARD THIS AFTER 'YOU'
I pray that I'll get tickets for their tour this year. To me this band is like no other and I'll never be able to describe how much they mean to me. They have songs that make me feel nostalgia to songs that make me feel alive, to songs that make me feel calm to songs that me feel sadness. Their music is astounding and I cannot thank the band enough for all the music they've created in the past years. I so hope that I see them in December. :D
I first listened to "Somebody Else," not paying attention to the artist until two years later when I decided to click on the artist's name on Apple Music. I listened to "The Sound" next to get a taste, and found I really liked that song. Then I found I liked "Robbers," too. Then it spiraled into my love for this band. I can't explain it as well as I would like to, but this band really says what I'm feeling all the time. I've never done drugs or ever had a relationship, but I feel I can connect to the feelings expressed in the songs. Not feeling connected to people, the feeling of emptiness, etc. I'm currently a junior in high school, and I can't wait for my twenties in two and a half years. Junior year is typically the most challenging, and this music is a great outlet to listen to in my room at night. I'll always be thankful. Love you guys. ❤
PCD is real, it is a personal issue commonly experienced when listening to The 1975 that is very difficult to control. We can help each other. Support the cause.:P
+Moreen Estrada Actually, it is! However, they added it on there quite... oddly? The song 'You' is nine minutes long for a reason; the first four(?) minutes of the song is the actual song 'You'. Then there is about a 1-2 minute break where there is no music, but then, in the last two minutes, it plays this song. I didn't even know that it was Milk until I listened to this just now!
don't you wanna like camp out to get closer seats ?? cause I wanna get to barricade but like I also wanna go the 26th too but I guess not since I wanna get barricade
I found out about this group in a great way. 3 summers ago, 2012 Taking the elevator down from our condo in Orange Beach, was talking to some teen boys and they were from Australia. One thing led to another, our GRANDson C was with us and they showed us THE 1975 band they had seen in Australia! Thus, began my search. Saw them in Dallas Texas in May and going back November 24th to Celebrate GRANDson C 16th BDay! I love their cover of 1D "What makes you Beautiful".
I could replay this song and never get tired of it. Saw them 4 times in concert and wished they played this song😭 all I can do is watch them live on UA-cam and pretend I’m there
where did you use them? saw them in Dallas Texas in May, going back to Dallas November 24th to see them at Gilleys. Then ..... My GRANDson C will be celebrating his 16th BDay that week, we are excited. Also, I can't find this to purchase on ITunes or anywhere? Let me know if u know
Just because I'm under the age of 16, doesn't mean I'm just listening to The 1975 to be "grunge" or "hipster". I genuinely like this band. Calling people "fake fans" or "try hards" is quite pointless to be honest. Anyone should be able to listen to the music they want if they really do enjoy it. I'm sorry. It's just a dickhead thing to say. I'm not even in the 13-14 age range and the amount of hate I get for liking them is unbelievable. Sorry. rant over.
Okay so I’m a Freshman in high school, and my Senior friend introduced me to this band and I believe it is quintessential to the high school experience
I was walking home one night (really stoned!), I was listening to this song, taking in the lyrics, realizing how deep and emotional they are. Matt Healy is an amazing songwriter, true poet in my eyes x
This song gives me SUCH a nostalgic feeling. I don't even know why. It just makes me *feel*. All of their music strikes a chord in my heart though, I absolutely love this band.
I was today years old when I found out that they were fans of M83. And so they sampled the same rythm of Graveyard girls - M83 for this song. And honestly it's amazing
I'm a 14 year old girl , and yes I do like The 1975 , but it's annoying as people give me hate as they think I'm just one of those girls who think they're 'indie ' for liking them , but I've liked them since drive like I do and it's annoying , just because I'm 14 and like The 1975 people give me hate - it's annoying stop !!
the wait between "you" and this song feels endless
I feel your your pain
I didn't even know the song was on there until I accidently left 'you' on while drawing and I couldn't switch songs. And then suddenly this beautiful song started playing xD
+Lisbelle same 😂
yess haha
i didnt even know this song existed, i thought it was just a part of the 'you' song
I hate when the best songs have to be the shortest
LIKE THE BALLAD OF ME AND MY BRAIN
i was going to like this but then i saw that it had 102 likes and i decided to leave it be for the sake of that number
OR MENSWEAR
Literally came here to write MENSWEAR
TOTAL
wish this song wasn't so underrated bc its my fav by them
+Olivia king It's not my favorite, but it's cool that people appriciate other songs than "Chocolate" & "Girls" ...
+nichoyeah I know exactly what you mean. I do love this song though
+liv my fav is is there someone who can watch you and then this. so many songs of theirs are unrrated bc people only like their popular stuff its right bs
+Matt Schaub Milk is a hidden track on the Sex ep if that's any help
same
I haven't found a band that's made me want to celebrate being young more than the 1975 and I never will
Emma would you be okay with me like actually tattooing your comment lmfao ? you’ve put in into words so perfectly

This song is so underrated, like I didn't even know this song existed until now.
***** same. Since I've never heard their EPs I thought it was part of You. But then when they performed it at the Itunes Festival I was really confused.
Jamilla Rahim sameee. i have to say its one of my favorite 1975 songs after i got to exploring more of their music.
I JUST found it on tumblr and it's so good wtf
+Rainbowleopard315 Well, the song does exist guys. There's been an error on iTunes :0 if you listen to the song "You" the song "Milk" is actually within the 9:00 mins of that song. I can not find it on iTunes to purchase? saw them perform in Dallas in May, going again in November 24th !! AHHH!!!! I love their sound. Yeah, I was you're typical stoned 18 year old and now a 59 year old Nana. GRANDson C will be celebrating his 16 BDay there!
haha it's at the end of the song 'you' which is why the song is like 9 minutes omg. I wished they would come to my town
KaylaKitty017 IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!
ikr.
this song is not long enough i don't think i've ever replayed a song more in my life
Agreedddddd
The 1975 reminds me of one of the teen movies from the 90s. Ones with the scenes of kids with sparklers and running around in a field. Or when they leave school and then they have a bonfire or a pool party or whatever.

+Carissa Herendeen thank god im not the only one who feels like this. the sparklers is exactly what i imagine
+Carissa Herendeen because they take the place of blink-182 in your emotions..
Thomas Wheller lmao thanks
you're so right c:
Straight lines that unwind you
She does a little thing with her eye that says, "We're off soon"
She says the bleeding's incidental 'cause she's so cool
She says it's no fun if you've only a bottle of wine
And now she's doing it all the time
Yeah, she's doing it all the time
Slow down
Yeah, I want you
She does a little bit on the sly that shows what she's up to
She started talking about pretending she's listening
It won't mend your heart if it's only a couple of lines
And now she's doing it all the time
Yeah, she's doing it all the time
Yeah, she's doing it all the time
Yeah, she's doing it all the time
Yeah, she's doing it all the time
It's actually ' She started talking about missing him, she was glistening '
The straight lines, they unwind you....? Right-?
boa para cantar
I like this song but I'm lactose intolerant
Don't worry it's not actually about milk it's about cocaine :)
Olly Maher nice

alex alba milk is cocaine so fuck it

It's so fun reading all comments from years ago.
fr,its like childhood
the minutes between 'you' and 'milk' just make both songs seem like they are from different lifetimes
does anyone know why theres such a big gap between it though?
the theory or a theory people have told me is that its supposed to symbolize how long it feels to be heart broken in a break up and then when they come back it feels so great so people have told me it feels like a life time waiting for love

Yes!
I've loved The 1975 for a while now but I'm actually still discovering all these songs I've never even heard about by them, like this one. I love all their songs omfg
The 1975 are so talented, the instrumentals in all of their songs just make me wanna dance around the house in my underwear lmao!

Same. However, I love their personalities too.
howielover hahaha, matty is kinda douche though.
Thomas berget He is only human. *taps on nose* don't be rude. George is a sweetheart and Adam is a shy little puppy tho. Also, I think without George, Matty is a bit of a douche. With George he is fine.
Same theyre the only band I listen to this much without getting sick of them
Lol i feel you baril
Chocolate is Weed
Milk is Cocaine
Rocks is Cocaine
Brown is Heroine
HAha the 1975 surely loves their euphemisms on drugs
milk is a reference to weed, like the milky color of smoke when you take a grav
James Garofalo Pffffft I actually laughed out loud when I read that. Milk is Cocaine. Please. "Staright lines, that unwind you" "If it's only a couple of lines". I'ts coke. Please
***** rocks are cocaine, milk, where i come from, is a reference to weed. Milk is the color of the smoke, urban dictionary it
Well I feel awkward singing Chocolate put loud and it sounds legit now that I think about it omfg I've been singing about weed! Not chocolate....my life is a lie ahhahahahaha
it says "straight lines that unwind you" most coke users form a straight line powder of cocaine using blade and snort it so it "unwinds you"
I love the feel of this song~ everything is just fine..life is just fine..
Yeah me too, love it! (:D
Exactly! :)
Also love "The City" too!: )That song never gets old for me lol
Twat

who else has possibly every form of album, cd/vinyl but still listens to every song on youtube for the feel and thrill of it
If I had the chance to replace two songs from The Perks Of Being A Wallflower soundtrack with 2 new songs, I choose this and You.
yes.... but what would you replace from tpobaw
sorry i mean take out
exactly!!
Yes for when they're going through the tunnel
I'd put Lostmyhead by The 1975 as the tunnel song.
I love the fact that this song is hidden after 'you' (the song is nine minutes long with a gap, afterwards is where this song is)
do u know why they made it hidden though????? i was like so sad when i didnt see milk on the tracklist but I WAS FUCKING HYPER WHEN I HEARD THIS AFTER 'YOU'
I could listen to these guys forever...
I pray that I'll get tickets for their tour this year. To me this band is like no other and I'll never be able to describe how much they mean to me. This is probably my fav song from the lads.

I AM SO PUMPED FOR THIS TO BE PLAYED AT THE NEW TOUR
this feels like a roadtrip with your friends, laughing and listening to good music, creating memories.
i was in 5th grade when they released this song... im in 12th now.. kinda amazing how i was completely unaware of their existence back then...
I was in 9th grade, now I’m a junior in college. I graduate next year. Dude, life goes by... Goodluck with your transition to college

Most underrated song by the 1975. I love this song, brings me back to my wild and free teen years
for some reason i keep coming back to this song . the driving at night vibes w the windows open
I found chocolate and now I'm obsessed with this band
I found out about this group in a great way. 3 summers ago, 2012 Taking the elevator down from our condo in Orange Beach, was talking to some teen boys and they were from Australia. One thing led to another, our GRANDson C was with us and they showed us THE 1975 band they had seen in Australia! Thus, began my search. Saw them in Dallas Texas in May and going back November 24th to Celebrate GRANDson C 16th BDay! I love their cover of 1D "What makes you Beautiful".
i'm seeing them live tomorrow ahhhh i'm so excited 😭🙏🏼
Nancy Foster LONDON?! IM GOING TOO
i miss the tumblr soft grunge era & this song reminds me of that
same. ♡
same
I hope every fan of theirs gets to go to their concert at least once or more in their life, it's amazing.
This song helped me when I was my lowest. Matty H and the boys will never know how much they have done for me
IM HEARING THIS LIVE. MY FAVOURITE SONG LIVE. IM GONNA CRY
No matter how many times I listen to this it'll never get old.
The feeling of freedom I get from this song is indescribable.
I could replay this song and never get tired of it. Saw them 4 times in concert and wished they played this song😭 all I can do is watch them live on UA-cam and pretend I’m there
omg reminds me of the concert :D
where did you use them? saw them in Dallas Texas in May, going back to Dallas November 24th to see them at Gilleys. Then ..... My GRANDson C will be celebrating his 16th BDay that week, we are excited. Also, I can't find this to purchase on ITunes or anywhere? Let me know if u know
how can music be so sad but beautiful, this is what serotonin feels like
Total eargasm... those little backing vocals that come in and that little keyboard towards the end are genius level....
NEW FAVOURITE OMG WHAT A TUNE.
Sorry. rant over.
you get hate for listeningto them?? shit why?
This song live was one of the best things ever
their music is so refreshing and gives such good vibes ♥ i love the 1975
If only this song was longer! Fucking banging song!!
On Spotify there's about 20 minutes of silence between "You" and "Milk", it's a pain to have in a playlist :/
Returning to this song is just everything!! I can't stop listening all over again!!
greatest song ever
IM SEEING THE 1975 TONIGHT AND THEYRE PLAYING THIS AND IM SHOOK
This song is the one.
The best band I've ever seen live.
One of their songs that makes me close my eyes then bob my head, jump and feel free. My feel good go to kinda music. Love you Matty! Thank you!
Okay so I’m a Freshman in high school, and my Senior friend introduced me to this band and I believe it is quintessential to the high school experience
Easily one of the most underrated songs ever.
every song i discover makes me love them even more, wow im actually in love
I was walking home one night (really stoned!), I was listening to this song, taking in the lyrics, realizing how deep and emotional they are. Matt Healy is an amazing songwriter, true poet in my eyes x
I miss this era 😞
this song will always make me cry omg
so i know they've put this back on the setlist but if they don't play this on the 21st i will actually cry
I love the intro (before the drums kick in) especially, it's so gentle
This song gives me SUCH a nostalgic feeling. I don't even know why. It just makes me *feel*. All of their music strikes a chord in my heart though, I absolutely love this band.
THEY PLAYED THIS SONG LIVE AND IT WAS THE MOST ENERGETIC PERFORMANCE I'VE EVER SAW ♥
The lights for this part of the show....AMAZING.
I was today years old when I found out that they were fans of M83. And so they sampled the same rythm of Graveyard girls - M83 for this song. And honestly it's amazing
Wow!
“Sampled,” or ripped off? They didn’t give any writing credits to M83.
One of my favourite songs of theirs it's so underappreciated
repeating it everyday ty
#putmilkbackonthesetlist

My friend and I ran around in a field to this song
I'm a 14 year old girl , and yes I do like The 1975 , but it's annoying as people give me hate as they think I'm just one of those girls who think they're 'indie ' for liking them , but I've liked them since drive like I do and it's annoying , just because I'm 14 and like The 1975 people give me hate - it's annoying stop !!
YESS THANK YOU im the same!!
you should write a book
