Hey ya'll -- to those watching--- i also find Khan Academy phenomenal as far as teaching style and their ability to present a concept in the most basic (sometimes story telling form) that makes us realize the types of teachers we've had in the past and allows us to go back in time and learn the very basics of something we dropped along our path of education, simply because we thought "oh i'm not good at science" or "im not good at math"....Math & Science are the foundation on which this universe came to existence and continues to exist...to study it is a must, to understand it is a major challenge especially those prone to the artistic aspect of life, but how much more enlightening and enhancing do things get when we can intersect the two worlds because we have just gained new knowledge. Khan Academy has the capability to do that.... I watch their videos even when i dont have to prep for anything, just for enjoyment of learning something new..... I do very much love this channel and as much as i wish i could be a monthly contributor, at the moment i will contribute in small amounts when i can as i do believe we ought to support those who put in the effort to give us high quality education. So please consider donating as well, even if 1000 of us donates just $5 per person, that's a good chunk of money....We push for Free Education in United States through our accredited schools -- be it ivy league or non ivy league.....Khan Academy's education is on par with Ivy League and frankly speaking they are indeed providing the education we need....they have the ability to help people connect the dots in simplest forms.....so please support them!

Mock slowmotion Looking at the angles that he was able to write with would suggest a tablet board. Mice movements are limited to vertical and horizontal movements that are almost impossible to get curved when moving the hand in those directions etc, because the computer needs to register a diagonal movement by how many squares it has to pass through which means trying to get a clean curve like handwriting while the mouse is programmed to follow vertically and horizontal is like trying to juggle leading with your weak hand whilst looking in the mirror.

This is something that schools ask you more questions about directly than actually giving an answer to the class. Even if the professors do, they just never actually make the answer clear at all. I learned something from this that my High School teachers failed to get across.

@@MichElle-ru2rm My brother is in his 4th year of Med School UNT and we talk a lot. He loves it. But his biggest challenge while attending is getting a good score on the USMLE. Also he earned his B.S in Biological Science and said Organic Chemistry was difficult, but helped him get a better score on his MCAT which ensured a higher Med School acceptance rate. Remember that now the MCAT is just a pass or fail, and no longer doing the percentile grading as before, so maybe that might not be such an issue. But yes, I'd say overall he's super ecstatic even now in his 4th year. Of course in 6 more months he'll be doing his residency and done with school, so that's also exciting.

Im at uni studying prep chemistry and you explain chemistry in a way that is clearer for me to understand. Very informative. How do you even get these elements, thats worth thinking about.
Charges- As a classically trained electronics technician, I was taught that charges are relative. If neutrons are neutral in charge, then they would be ‘negative’ with regards to protons, yet positive when compared to electrons. So Schrödinger’s neutron exists simultaneously as a positive and a negative, lol?
Widths and lengths of molecules were a very abstract concept for the freshman I taught. They did the calculation without trying to understand it because I didn't know how to show them intuitively what an angstrom looks like.
I think the Pauli exclusion principle is why the electrons don't just fall into the center. Not sure if that's completely true, ... it's a quantum mechanical principle and outside of the scope of this lecture. Not that I myself even completely understand it, just remember someone mentioning it before. Nice intro Khan, love the work you are doing. Stay humble, be blessed, and Godspeed.
Amazing. I managed to understand how all of this stuff works. I was confused with Coulomb's Law with how the electrons aren't like the neutrons that are attracted to the protons which is the opposite charge. But, I guess I misunderstood how the law of attraction works.

And if there’s a totally safe element for humans but if another thing can just have one or more electrons or protons it can be something totally toxic to humans? Like isn’t this stuff mind-blowing? And then people like to think all this came from nowhere. Nah, bro. An extremely powerful and all-knowing being had to have created all this stuff and that being is the only God, Sovereign Lord of the Universe, and crew of everything seen and unseen.
