i30? really? comfortable spending 20 lakh on a hatch? also higher tax cus 4.2m. Indian rules are utter garbage and difficult to bring the best products.
Everone saying its costly and overpriced but no one is talking about what they are offering in return. I 20 cant be compared with altroz or baleno, its of different league like polo gt. Just look at the sharp and elegant design and with features such as tyre pressure monitoring, Electronic stability control, hill assist, 6 airbags, and child seat fixation facility that tata or maruti don’t even care of. With all these features ( that can be seen on mercedes or audi) the Price of Top Model of i20 is totally Justified. If you dont want these, then go with the lower variant with low price. By these Hyundai is setting new standards in Indian Market.
So for how long will the DCT last that's the big question?! Given all we know Sletos DCT heating issues, it should not start failing like Polo DSG after 5 years.
Could you ever share a 0-100 sprint on a timing gear. Where do you test the performance? As big as is the Hyundai, they won't be advertising 9.9 seconds for nothing. I really appreciate how Hyundai is offering many engine options with different state of tunes for different cars. No other manufacturer does that in India.
not just that, the performance is poor as well, 12+ second for 120bhp is slow, for a DCT, its extremely slow. This car looks good on paper, but i dont think it will be that nice in real life.
I have booked i20 sport petrol ⛽️ but I am confuse between baleno or i20 . When I have drive the new I20 Pick up wise I don't feel so good apart from that everything is good , Baleno pick up wise so good . I Need suggestions should I go for i20 or baleno
Nice review... Since only 30K difference is there, Which is comparatively better I20 DCT Asta (O) or Venue DCT SX+ in terms of drive , handling, suspension, features, safely and value for money ?
I don't know what's up with manufacturers these days their love for 3 cylinder engines are getting more with every minute. 3 cylinder engines perform awful in low gears and you will feel the vibration and engine noise quite a lot. It takes a while for the turbocharger to kick in and until then it's gonna be an unpleasant drive
I suggest that safety parameters needs to be highlighted at the outset as being reviewers you have a say in influencing the people. It's about time the Koreans start taking safety seriously . If a car hasn't had a crash rating prior to sale that needs to be highlighted then only the manufacturers will be serious about it. Thanks for the review
I'm really confused. I was planning to buy Hyundai Venue. But looks like this car has more modern features. But then the price is more for this one. So I'm thinking of going ahead with the venue. But then again, that car will get outdated in 1 year or so. In conclusion, I'm confused.😁
Venue and I20 are of different segments. So if you want that extra pleasure from driving ,hatchbacks are the way to go. Typical Hyundais aren't known for their driving dynamics, again its a personal preference. Or else go ahead with Venue.
The proportion of i20 buyers who opt for turbo 1.0 petrol version will be very minor. Eagerly waiting for Diesel and petrol versions review which most common buyers opt for
It seems plastic quality is very poor , that too for a car of premium plus pricing !! Tata Altroz is still the value for money car in this segment. And styling wise its not quite exciting as previous elite I20.
A great turbo -petrol unit?!?Maybe or maybe not but the Diesel i20 is the one I am here for! The 1.0L turbo-petrol may not sell very well! plus it isn't the best performing variant either! (The Baleno RS was beast of a drive!) The new i20 looks nice but an interior with an all black theme can seem a bit bland and a two-tone interior with some soft touch materials could be something Hyundai needs to get in with an update! (Older Hyundai vehicles like the Verna/Elantra had a nice cream coloured beige interior! Better plastics have arrived for sure, yes! The 1.5 Diesel seems like a good deal but nobody wants to pay upwards of 12-13 lakhs for a hatchback! No disrespect Hyundai. 25.2 kmpl!!! Hyundai Diesel engines are lovely! Remember the 1.6 CRDi from the Verna/ Old Creta!! The SUV space of the Sonet/Venue/Brezza/ Urban Cruiser can be a great alternative for anyone considering this car. DCT's are not DSG's. Good try Hyundai! I still think a lot of people will like the car! 17-18 inch aftermarket alloys will make the new i20 a looker! Nice and spacious now. (ha ha Polo!) Yes, well done Hyundai. But we want the i30/i30N! This is a bit of an expensive car. The Baleno and the Altroz provide great value as well!
After such a powerful engine and lighter chassis, it is still behind Ford Figo from 0-100 in Diesel. What a shame... Now I know why people like Figo even though that car has no fancy features.. Driving experience does matter
just see the new i20 in showroom. I have baleno alpha model. when I sit in the drivers seat , I realised it is very narrow . and feel shorter space than my baleno. At rear also it is not specious. steering wheel is also small in size. and really not feeling a pricy hatchback car. Baleno is far ahead in terms of space interior and cabin space. Also as all said this i20 is very expensive too....I think it is a big flop for hyundai.
Keeping aside the gizmos , I feel that the Abarth Punto was a better proposition with its 140 HP engine , quad disks priced in the similar range , but alas it’s no more 🤣
OMG , i20 OverPriced, I wish I could buy an bigger car for this price or move with Altroz 5 star -rated car in this price line.Thinking about FORD ECOSPORT ,,Nexon or XUV300
If this car fares well in the crash test rating, and secures a 5-star rating just like Tata Altroz, then this will still be a very good buy because this will then look like the best of all worlds at a slight premium in price. If the car scores just the same rating as that of the old i20 (GNCAP - 3 star out of 5), then it is not worth it. Indian customers have slowly started evolving to consider safety also as one of the parameters for new car purchase. I hope :)
The car is loaded with features, comes with powerful engines & i'm not commenting on the price. But concerns of safety is the biggest problem here. Grand i10 Nios scored an appalling 2 Stars in Global NCAP and even the 20 lakh Kia Seltos scored merely 3 stars (same underpinnings as the Creta! When are these companies going to give priority to safety in India?
Loved the Design and hate the new price...its definitely not worth the money...and its down on basic features as well..with every generation Hyundai is bringing down the interior quality of its cars.
Needs to trim down the price by one lakh from base to top version. If not only fools will go for the latest generation i20. Apart from 1.2 lts engine both the other engine models will fail miserably because of the pricing.
10 year old Polo still takes the better of these 2020 launches..says a lot about german engineering..120hp engine with a rubbish handling package can never make a car sporty..DSG which used to come with Polo earlier still is the best performance package anyone can get..if fun to drive is priority the new 1.0L TSI Polo is better buy over these unsafe Koreans..
Hyundai cars dont give fuel efficiency they claim which is 23.4kmpl I have venue bs6 diesel it give 12-15kmpl in city even with lite throttle. On highway it give 17-19kmpl and i don’t drive it aggressively. I love everything in this cars just fuel economy is the one thing i just hate. Fuel eco
Fantastic features to make you believe it's a premium car, only if you wish to put the bling features over your life. It's based on the k1 santro platform which performed poorly on crash tests. Don't expect this to perform any better. Hyundai following footsteps of market leader Maruti
It's good but overpriced. Who wants to buy an i20 at over 13 lakhs on road? Should have used this space to launch i30 or i20 N-Line
imt is more vfm
i30? really? comfortable spending 20 lakh on a hatch? also higher tax cus 4.2m. Indian rules are utter garbage and difficult to bring the best products.
I20 n❤️
Altroz better lagri mujhe, cost wise
Can you noted the price of high end in Europe that near 19L
Everone saying its costly and overpriced but no one is talking about what they are offering in return. I 20 cant be compared with altroz or baleno, its of different league like polo gt. Just look at the sharp and elegant design and with features such as tyre pressure monitoring, Electronic stability control, hill assist, 6 airbags, and child seat fixation facility that tata or maruti don’t even care of. With all these features ( that can be seen on mercedes or audi) the Price of Top Model of i20 is totally Justified. If you dont want these, then go with the lower variant with low price. @Nikhil as per you, which is best hatchback available now?
So for how long will the DCT last that's the big question?! Given all we know Sletos DCT heating issues, it should not start failing like Polo DSG after 5 years.
VW specialises in DCT gearboxes and theirs have issues.......imagine what this would be🙄
Would be it right to choose petrol CVT
Which watch are you wearing bro??
Could you ever share a 0-100 sprint on a timing gear. Where do you test the performance? As big as is the Hyundai, they won't be advertising 9.9 seconds for nothing. I really appreciate how Hyundai is offering many engine options with different state of tunes for different cars. No other manufacturer does that in India.
Did I just read 6.9kmpl 🙄
That's cuz during the shoot, they would have parked the car idle(start engine) for a long time.
not just that, the performance is poor as well, 12+ second for 120bhp is slow, for a DCT, its extremely slow.
This car looks good on paper, but i dont think it will be that nice in real life.
I was going to comment the exact same thing 😂
6 airbags are of no use, if the chassis is found to be unstable. If Seltos structure is unstable, I have no hopes for i20 either.
true
Spot on bro!
Which one is a better option i20(diesel) vs Ford ecosport. Very difficult to decide. Kindly opine.
I have booked i20 sport petrol ⛽️ but I am confuse between baleno or i20 . When I have drive the new I20 Pick up wise I don't feel so good apart from that everything is good , Baleno pick up wise so good . I Need suggestions should I go for i20 or baleno
Kia seltos got 3star in GNCAP . So what would i20 score?
Which one should i go for
i20 asta or venue sx diesel ?
Can we have the comparison between Altroz n i20??
I am sure the next video is gonna be a drag race between polo tsi, figo diesel and i20 turboGDI.
Polo tsi will win
Is i20 Amt available in diesel ?
Waiting for the comparison Vedio of Altroz diesel and i20 diesel
Don't wait...bocoz i20s diesel engine is more better than the altroz....no doubt..... On the side of engine performance i20 wins
i20 turbo or manual tsi
No paddle shifters?? Big miss
What's the safety rating @Autocar India?
Could you please compare this new i20 with the new Honda Jazz 2020
Hatch priced in suv segmnt 😂
Yeah but this is premium hatch
Suv is basic in this price hatch is top spec
But it's more spacious than venue & sonet 😂
No 60 40 split seat.. No Arm rest with cupholders..Premium?
@@sdk1994 nope...some top spec suv costs same...
Nice review...
Since only 30K difference is there, Which is comparatively better I20 DCT Asta (O) or Venue DCT SX+ in terms of drive , handling, suspension, features, safely and value for money ?
Not good that only Asta (O) gets adjustable headrests at back seat. Atleast Asta variant also should have been included with the adjustable headrests.
That's a very disappointing performance with a 120hp engine! Looks like all the cost when in to features and not to the actual driving experience.
People will fall for the numbers and glitz. Thats why Volkswagen and Ford are struggling to sell.
Honestly the polo tsi manual is faster than this i20
How many safety stars 🌟 3 or 4
Or only with cosmetics.
4 but you want stars or live performance
3 MAX I feel..in the future of course as not tested yet
Please provide with the safety ratings first
Is the I20 TURBO better than the 1.0 litre polo tsi and the GT??
No way bro Polo TSI is better anyday GDI sucks
Never
No it's better to wait for TaTa Altroz turbo petrol launch in a while
i20 offers more space and features over the polo. For the rest Polo wins it
No. Performance wise u can choose the latter ones
Looks like I20 diesel is the one which can claim some sporty hatchback creds. Comparison with Altroz would be great. Or even with Rapid TSI.
12+ sec from 1 to 100....so polo tsi is still a faster hatchback with only 10 sec.
So 2 seconds more to cry at the terrible infotainment system inside the polo. 🤣🤣
I mean trash German tech at the finest 🤣
Also Ford Figo tdi is faster
I suggest that safety parameters needs to be highlighted at the outset as being reviewers you have a say in influencing the people. It's about time the Koreans start taking safety seriously . Rip the i20 price 1.0 dct, imt and diesel top model also ,better option to buy xuv 300 w8 optional
Don't compare i20 with xuv you like xuv go venue sx1.0 only 11.40 b xuv w8 also near that price but below spec
Can u make a competition on new i20 v/s baleno
Very slow for a 120hp turbo petrol. Punto abarth will run rings around it
I'm really confused. I was planning to buy Hyundai Venue. But looks like this car has more modern features. But then the price is more for this one. So I'm thinking of going ahead with the venue. But then again, that car will get outdated in 1 year or so.

Sonet
Don't Buy if it's not that important
You can consider the Sonet as a facelifted Venue.
Magnite🔥🔥
Kindly do a video on the performance of i20 1.2 litre petrol with ivt
what is the price of this car..
Whenever I go to the showroom they say you can check the engine in the venue which makes me very disappointed
Overpriced for what it's offering..Would rather go with Sonet or Upcoming Magnite
There is no need of a sunroof in a hatchback it increase price only
The proportion of i20 buyers who opt for turbo 1.0 petrol version will be very minor. Eagerly waiting for Diesel and petrol versions review which most common buyers opt for
120hp i20 - Most powerful hatchback.
145hp abarth - Am I a joke to you?
Safety rating?
Crash test rating?
Why does the diesel varient handles better than turbo petrol
Government should make rules before launching of cars the safety test must be compulsory .. with minimum 4 star rating
Then 90 percent of maruti vehicles will not be eligible
If I am buying a car..I would be interested only in safety features. Hey altroz!!
Need a turbo petrol Altroz with the new i20 turbo petrol...
I hope there's a version from Kia also in works, preferably with a proper manual and turbo petrol combo.
All are first. I am second then. BTW, Hyundai has just messed up with this one. The previous one looked better.
and the price is tooo much
8:57 thanks for the price chart.
Good review Nikhil. Well done.
It seems plastic quality is very poor , that too for a car of premium plus pricing !! Tata Altroz is still the value for money car in this segment. And styling wise its not quite exciting as previous elite I20.
In 2013, We used to get a Ford Ecosport 1.5 L Diesel Titanium for 10 lakhs (Ex-Showroom). Which is a lower price than this hatch. Sed life
A great turbo -petrol unit?!?Maybe or maybe not but the Diesel i20 is the one I am here for!
The 1.0L turbo-petrol may not sell very well! plus it isn't the best performing variant either! (The Baleno RS was beast of a drive!)

Lack of full led headlights like in international model is a bummer for this price. Should have offered Atleast in dct as it crosses 11 lakhs ex-sh
At 13 lakh rupees i would prefer to buy sonet, venue or nexon. Not an i20
Yeah but you want offroad performance or luxury performance can you choose best
Need a comparison between i20 and Altroz
waiting for altroz turbo
I ll wait for altroz turbo.. cheap and safe
Compare with the polo 1.0 tsi
Two questions!!!!
1) i20 turbo vs Polo GT Tsi??
2) i20 vs Venue?
just see the new i20 in showroom. I have baleno alpha model. when I sit in the drivers seat , I realised it is very narrow . and feel shorter space than my baleno. It's all good but why the good design earlier turn in to so bad
In the U.K.... i20 turbo edition from 2016...car looks great getting one next year great review.
Keeping aside the gizmos , I feel that the Abarth Punto was a better proposition with its 140 HP engine , quad disks priced in the similar range , but alas it’s no more 🤣
I20 is hugely overpriced...ppl waiting for Magnite
Why do people complain about cup holders in Indian cars?
Am I the only one who notice 6.9kmpl mileage.
Safety should be at paramount criteria to buy car in India now by Indian consumers
Try to make diff bw i20 nd altroz
Why don't they put 1.5 CVT ,more reliable then dct
What’s the chance this gets a 2 or 3 star crash test rating?
Insane pricing too. 🤨
OMG , i20 OverPriced, I wish I could buy an bigger car for this price or move with Altroz 5 star -rated car in this price line.Thinking about FORD ECOSPORT ,,Nexon or XUV300

Amazing product but is ultimately extremely overpriced.
they are trying make it look and feel like a Hyundai Veloster N.
You know veloster price is starting near 19L but this not that price😂
The car has so much potential if it had a manual, that DCT is a disgrace for the sporty credential
Man!! You are an awesome reviewer.. you bring a feeling that we can trust your reviews unlike some 'fanboy' reviewers..
Hyundai is being very confident i must say
Way better than any other compact SUV
Do compare with new wrv as well
Loved the Design and hate the new price...its definitely not worth the money...and its down on basic features as well..with every generation Hyundai is bringing down the interior quality of its cars.
Just in one word...overpriced

In my opinion ALTROZ is much better than this, it provides more premium features than this car
Finally some said, its not as premium as it used to be!

I think its the tires! slap on 215 section tires and it will do 11 sec in real world!
Its better to go for diesel rather than petrol dct
Awesome but overpriced
It'll increase even more.
Don't forget current price is only INTRODUCTORY applicable till Dec 31st 2020!
Kis kis ne new i20 book ki and which variant ?
I think verna could have 1.4 turbo petrol..
