Nothing like dwelling on the negative! No guitarist thinks poorly of Eddie, then or now. How about doing video's that are positive and not based on negativity? Eddie is was one of the greatest guitar players of all time and a great guy, you're turning him into something he never was. The only person I've heard speak poorly of Eddie, especially after his death, IS YOU!!!
Eddie had a great heart and a huge smile, showing the world how humble he really was despite being well aware of his mejestic, mozart-like genius talent, envied by the so called 'gods' of guitar of the era
Alex, Ed is my favorite guitarist eve, hands down. But he was insecure as hell. He had a huge ego, he was not in any way humble. He never gave any other guitarist praise in any way. The drinking was because of his insecurity. He was a complex dude, and he was a genius as a musician. He knew he was the best, and he made sure everyone else knew it too. So many players tried to ask him to a party or an event, and he would never answer. Ynwie Malmsteen was inj awe of Ed and really wanted to meet him, writing letters, invitations etc. and Ed would vanish. He would be at a big party for Mtv or the Grammy`s and if he heard that another player would like to meet him and thank him, he would slip out the back, like a dude hiding from the FBI or some shit. He will always be my fave, but he was also an insecure alcoholic. He drank because he was so insecure. I can`t believe he is gone, still freaks me out when I remember he is no longer with us. But he gave us so much. EVH is the GOAT, Hendrix does not even come close. But it ain`t a competition, it is what makes you feel good, and enjoy.
First off there was never a falling out with him and Michael Jackson!!! He was thrilled and Honored to receive a call from Quincy Jones and hung up at first, thinking it had to have been a prank phone call.... however, when Quincy called again a second time he knew it was legit. Eddie offered for no charge as a chance to work with Quincy and Michael and laid down an awesome solo on Beat It. Also he was very close with Steve Lukather, from Toto, who's players were mostly the musicians on Thriller!!! The other cool coincidence is Van Halen was right after Thriller, with the latter being #1 but with Ed featured on the album. It was a huge accomplishment for Ed and he never minded not getting credit.... it didn't matter anyway as everyone who heard it knew it was Eddie!!! The only times Eddie was "hard to deal with" or seemed "egotistical" and "controlling" was when he let his substances and fluids get the better of him. (The worst being the "04" reunion tour with Hagar) not that long after... he cleaned up, started taking better care of himself and better yet, started fixing and repairing the bridges he had burnt in his life. Eddie Van Halen will be and is the GOAT!!!!
I wish people would STOP trying to put Eddie down, especially now that he's gone. Only lowlifes & assholes do that! He was simply the BEST! GET OVER IT!
I defy anyone with a problem with the late, great EVH to step right up and "show us what ya got." Ed did demand creative control.... just like the highest caliber athletes "ALWAYS want the ball." Ed was demanding in the studio because he wanted only the BEST to go on an album with his name on it. Most of the time ws, as humans, do not like when someone pushed us into a higher level of anything we think we are already good enough at.... most of us are just lazy. Also, I am sure EVH did have a high opinion of himself.... he had so many people telling him "he was the best" only to tp get a piece of him... besides.... again.... anyone with his level of creativity, influence, talent and I mean "DEVELOPED TALENT" should come on out of the woodwork now. Ed never said he was perfect.... he often talked about how he was always searching for more.... that would imply that he still believed he was a work in progress. Give the man a break!
What I don't understand is how come no one labeled Sammy Hagar for being a lying rat and a snitch . The Halen Bros weren't perfect BUT that doesn't they deserve to be crucified . Sam never mentioned how much money Konami paid him for using his Can't Drive 55 song in the Ridge Racer Type 4 videogame TV commercial YET he criticized the Halen Bros for selling songs for TV commercials . As for Ed's addiction problem(s) , it should have been kept private . I think Sam wanted for revenge for problems he caused himself and he alone and no-one else .
This is a waste. The only people that had conflict with EVH were David Lee Roth, and later to a lesser degree Sammy Hagar. There was an incident with Fred Durst because he wouldn't return Eddie's calls about picking up equipment. The Michael Jackson issue was due to him not being paid for the solo
@@akfreed6949 the video was about why rockers couldn’t stand EVH, his issue with not being paid didn’t put him in bad light. Michael Jackson didn’t know about the issue and doubt he had any problem with Eddie
@@billkline3002 There was no issue. Eddie did the solo for free. I doubt he went back to MJ after the success of Thriller and said "I want money for that solo I did for you."
This is awful clickbait - "Why Rockers Can't Stand Eddie Van Halen" and doesn't name a single one, just mentions there was conflict between him and Hagar and Roth.
This is wrong. Eddie and Michael Jackson’s never had a falling out. In fact they were in good terms the whole. Also, who had issues worth Eddie?? Other than Michael Jackson, Sammy and DLR this video didn’t even mention anyone else. You have no clue. Just repeating a bunch of nonsense
I’ve just read your title and won’t waste my time watching your diatribe. I’ve read 4 books on Van Halen, plus many interviews over the years, and the only incident I recall was with Nirvana around ‘91 when F.U.C.K was high in the charts. EVH met Nirvana backstage and wanted to jam. KC said we don’t really jam. EVH asked to borrow one of their guitars, referring to Nirvana’s touring guitarist in a way which could have been taken as racist. It’s more likely that EVH was just drunk, or on coke, and in those days people probably did refer to someone as “the Mexican”, or whatever, as a way of describing someone. From memory, KC dismissed the “ageing rocker” and Nirvana went on their way, probably topping VH in the charts that year. There was a nasty incident between DLR, AVH and MA around the time of the 1984 album, when they told Mike to sign away his share of publishing, because he didn’t contribute to the writing. But that didn’t involve EVH directly - who didn’t like conflict - but instead involved DLR bailing up MA at a dinner. Yeah, so “Why Rockers Can’t Stand Eddie Van Halen” sounds like bullshit to me. There are many stories of rockers who love EVH. Nuno Bettencourt shared a lovely story about EVH encouraging him to try out his gear, when NB was invited along to the studio by GC when they were working on VH3.
What a BS waste of time video. With the exception of Michael Jackson, no other "Famous rockers" are named and/or quoted. And Eddie did the Beat It solo for free so I doubt he argued over money after the fact.
Eddie Van Halen's contributions to rock guitar far outweigh any so called negatives talked about in this video. Why title a video "Why Rockers Can't Stand Eddie Van Halen" when you only have a few instances to site as any type of evidence? I think you will have a hard time finding a band where the singer and the guitarist get along 100% of the time.
This is such B.S. They came up with 5 guys . He's the greatest guitarist so there's going to be jealousy. He lived to 65 so say 10 guys didn't like him in 65 years.not bad. 3 plus decades and after the album in 1991 which was awesome probably my favorite. But....Ed was unable to really relate or make music with anyone. The way he treated Michael was apalling. I always wonder why he never jammed, played with other. He was innovative, but so much of the time a mere caricature, or just sloppy and inane.

Too much repetition in this video and not much detail about feuds, conflicts and controversies with Eddie's peers. Very poor.
