✒ Key takeaways
00:02 Enter only one answer if there are multiple solutions.
02:17 Avoid using mixed numbers in SAT Math questions.
04:36 When truncating or rounding to five characters, the decimal point counts as a character.
07:08 Some questions require rounding to a specific decimal place.
09:24 Understanding rounding conventions and using fractions in percent questions
11:40 When typing in a fraction as an answer, it is important to consider the character limit
13:53 Truncating and rounding yield the same answer.
16:22 Desmos can provide enough precision to get questions right.
18:22 Rounding to the thousandth place is acceptable and Desmos provides sufficient precision.
20:23 Include a zero in front of the number when rounding or truncating to five characters.
Hey Aithir! Thanks so much for typing this up - it is really helpful - when is your exam? A couple notes:
-Truncating and rounding CAN (but not always) yield the same answer
-Always round or truncate to 5 characters. Desmos going out to the thousandths place just makes that often convenient. Don't think of it as rounding to the thousandths for the purposes of the exam.
Thanks again!
@@Tutorllini Thanks for the clarification. Really grateful for what you're doing on this channel! I'm taking the dsat on this december as an international student.
@@aithir2543 Awesome man! Make sure you stop by the Community Tab and let me know how your exam went, both on test day and on score release day:

I will be hosting a gaming livestream after the exam on 10 AM Eastern Time. Not sure what zone you are in or if it is convenient but I hope you can make it!

Best of luck! You got this!
thanks bro. i'll remember to check in once i'm done@@Tutorllini
Just finished my DSAT today and saw an interesting guy: a test taker without his graphing calc. A proctor asked him, “don’t you have your calculator!?” and he replied, “I’m fine, the calculator is here,” pointing at his laptop screen with a seemingly full confidence. I saw many of puzzled expressions passed over other examinees’ faces 😂
Spread the word my friend!
I have watched through your entire playlist of Desmos videos now and they are SO HELPFUL!! I feel so much more confident going into the dSAT!! Thank you 🙏
You're welcome, Addie! Please please watch some of my other videos and shorts, I worked really hard on them:

Best of luck! You got this!!!
The way I love your videos is crazy, I’ve got my DSAT exam in less than 12 hours and just by watching your vids, I’ve never had so much fun for maths. Thank you so so much for reigniting my passion for maths! Watching your vids started as a desperate cramming but as I watch em more and more I’m finding myself in big joy lol Definitely pressing that subscription button, will recommend this channel to my classmates too
You are welcome friend! I'm so glad you are enjoying learning maths again :) Let me know how your exam goes by dropping by the Community Tab (or my livestream on exam day). Best of luck I hope you do awesome!!!
I hate the SPR questions because it's so needlessly complicated to deal with the rounding. A worthwhile topic for a lesson!
Thanks Mike!
I love your explanation dude!!!😄
Thanks for watching!
some questions cuz I didn't know what to do with those weird answers thx
This video was inspired by one of the livestreams!
Thank you very much Sir :)) Your videos have been extremely helpful. Happy Holidays! 🇹🇹🎅🎁🎉
You're welcome Mila! Happy Holidays! 🌲
Is that you as your profile?
@@kojo630 yes, why?
function f is defined by f(x) = -a^x+B where a and b are constants. In the xy - plane, the graph of y = f(x) - 12 has a y - intercept at (0, -75/7). The product of a and b is 320/7. What is the value of a. Could you use Desmos for this question? if yes, could you kindly show how? ;-;
Here is my Desmos solution - but I don't think this is any easier than doing it by hand:

You can view my by-hand solution here:

nice vid!
Does the point count as character?
Yes! So for example, 3.75 would be 4 characters (three POINT seven five). Hope this helps!
Thank you so much
My exam is June 1
Buh I still need help with circle geometry
Hi! Many of my Blue videos cover this topic via the practice problems. Here are some videos in particular that cover problems with circle geometry:

does it matter if a fraction is simplified in a student-produced response? thanks! very helpful video
Usually not but why wouldn't you simplify? The calculator will do it for you, see below:
www.desmos.com/calculator/2sl60vgxds
Simplifying fractions is a good habit to develop - especially if there is no room for human error. Remember, calculators are allowed for all Math questions on the Digital SAT.
I hope this helps!
3(kx+13)=(48/17)*x+36
if this equation have no solution, what is the value of x? PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE SOLVE THISSSSSSS
Hi Aashika! Please watch this video in full. It goes over how to solve that EXACT type of question:

I hope this helps!
so either truncate ans or round ans is both acceptable?
Almost always, the answer will be an integer, a terminating decimal, or a fraction that fits in the box.
For long decimals, you can truncate or round at the last character. My advice, just truncate (type Desmos input until Bluebook app starts preventing you from typing).
@@Tutorllini thanks
@@PhươngLyNguyễn-z2t You're welcome! Be sure to stop by the Community Tab or a livestream after your exam and let me know how you did. Best of luck!

Doesnt the negative sign count as a character? Please reply
Yes. 5 characters for positive numbers allowed. 6 characters for negative numbers allowed.
That is hard to remember, so I encourage people to just think 5 characters AND a negative (if needed).
@@Tutorllini thank you so much for all these videos truly!
For the second question (the percent multiplier one) I'm still confused on why you subtract from one. How did you know that it was subtracted from one? I appreciate any help!!
Hi! I talk about this in great detail in my Ottocento on Percents:

Please go watch it and then comment on that video if you are still confused and I will try to clear things up!
@@Tutorllinithank you so much, I will check it out!!!
no facecam lol
Thanks for the video! always had a doubt regarding this specific "topic". Also, could you please do a December dSAT Hard Problems Sette. Thanks.
Please post more desmos videos!
