I am an 80-year old and disabled ex-paratrooper. I guess that I am weird in that I will never achieve one of my long-time interests, that of flying a helicopter. Even a remote controlled one. Injuries from a major accident (wow...36 years ago) have me consigned to my living room chair. At least I can live my dreams vicariously by watching your fantastic videos. Had I not been injured and had I found your channels in my care-free youth, you probably would have seen me in one of your flight schools. Other than that, I will have to settle with fantasizing through your videos. Thanks!

Your videos have inspired me! I lost my job, and my apartment due to COVID-19. I worked for 10 years in the entertainment industry. My life has come to a standstill, not knowing what would be next for me. Yet, I always have had a love for helicopters and today is the day I begin a new journey. I am 28 years old living out of Southern California, and I am on my way to starting my education in becoming a career helicopter pilot. Your videos and the knowledge you bring makes me want to hit that 8,760 hour mark. Thanks for being an inspiration during these trying times. Maybe one day I will make it out to BC helicopters.

How the heck if you’ve lost your job and home are you able to afford this? Good luck and I’m envious of your position to be able to just pick this up. The costs in the UK are far too extreme, even for fixed wing!

As a Fixed Wing private pilot its quite interesting watching you with your students, you can tell how much you enjoy thier successes. I think having a great instructor is not only a major plus towards learning to fly, but also in giving one the love of flying itself. Your students, in my opinion are blessed with a Great Instructor. Stay safe and God Bless!

I'm 59 and a fixed wing pilot from New Zealand. Thank's for for taking us on this amazing journey. Loved every second of it. Getting away from the flying for a bit, your personalty is just gorgeous. .Captivating and inspiring! I asked my self what makes a person like this?
In my observations and life experience, I think it's brutal honesty with your self combined with a passion of what you do, No pretention , no ego, in tune, and connected. Most people a busy trying to be someone their not. What a gift! Keep up the the great work.

Hi Mischa! I have been watching your videos for about a year, just finished your "year in the air" and thought it was really great. Some of the best years of my life were back in the early 50''s as an army aviator in a topographic mapping battalion flying surveyors to their mountaintop stations in Alaska and southern California. Our Hiller helicopters only had 200 hp and were unable to hover on most of the landing spots so we had to land on the very edge, over-rev 200 or 300 rpm, hop into the air and fall off the far side. At 91 years of age your great videos bring back many memories and liven my days!

Thanks for the helicopter ride. I took my first ride when I was 9 years old in a bell 47. Was hooked. Started working on my license as soon as I was old enough. My family tried their best to help me pay for it , but after 13.5 hours I stopped. I honestly did not have the money and really had no clue how people could afford to be a pilot. Now Im 38 , wife , kids . We take helicopter tours when we go to the beach. Looking back if I had you tube back then, Im sure I could have done it , just needed a guide to help navigate. May be when Kids grow up I can finish. Till then I will continue to enjoy the ride. Have fun sir!

Thank you so much for your videos. Being disabled and sitting at home so much it is so nice to watch one of your video's with such wonderful views. Ever since I can remember I wanted to fly helicopters. Found you site a few years ago and have watched on and off now and love it. Gives me an escape some days to just watch and wish I was there. When covid started life did not change much here other then the prices went up of the everyday items we have to buy. The things I got out of the house for stopped like church and Civil Air Patrol meets. Slowly things started to return with church and CAP but now the CAP meetings were changed from in person to remote again because of all the new cases. Membership expires here in just a few days and even at only $65 a year for dues being there for 11 years now just might come to an end. Covid cause us to lose all our cadets but when we started to have small meeting again we were working on getting new members in and then with the change to remote again that has seemed like a kick in the gut. Again thank you for your videos because it does make me feel better to sit back and enjoy your flights.

Love this channel! 1. The Cabri is just such a cool piece of technology. 2. The scenery! 3. The fantasy of being able to land on a snow-covered mountaintop is realized week after week, and 4. Mischa and the rest of the BC Helicopter crew seem like the sort of people I'd like to hang out with. Ignore the order of these! Island Hopping was my favorite. Wish you all would go out over the sound a bit more, but I realize there are many considerations, not just 'where's the best scenery'!

Hello Mischa from Switzerland. Congrats to your flight hours - 1 year non-stop in the air, incredible :) I am also German and been watching your inspiring posts for a year or so...also flying the R66 and AS350 in Switzerland, preparing for helimission.org. Next step is a mechanic training starting this summer... The mountains you are flying in are pretty similar to the Swiss Alps. I learn from your posts regarding long line and mountain flying. Unfortunately, there is no money left to accomplish a thorough mountain rating, which is regarded a king discipline in Switzerland for helicopter pilots. I thought, if ever necessary / possible I'd probably do the mountain training with you ;) you never know... However, keep up the good spirit.

HI Mischa, I’ve only recently started watching your amazing videos when I was looking for some aerial footage of the flooding in your part of BC, and since that video I have become ‘hooked’ on the channel and your impressive, professional calmness with which you fly and instruct. The scenery of BC and the mountains is breath-taking and almost beyond compare and your videos are stunning.
After I retired, my wife and I were fortunate to spend 5 weeks in 2018 travelling around BC and Alberta and we had a wonderful time exploring this vast and fascinating part of the world. I guess the closest we came to a helicopter trip was taking the Peak 2 Peak gondola from Whistler to Blackcomb mountains but after seeing your videos, I wish we had taken a ride with you guys as well!
Your videos not only bring a lot of enjoyment to the people who watch them but I also find them very technically informative on how to fly helicopters.
Keep up the good work and good luck to you and the family on your new venture with the bus.

Loved the video...what a great and memorable flight you had and thanks for sharing it with all of us, flying around such beautiful scenery.
We never stop learning...loved the "learn to experience" motto.
In the EPIC World Tour there were so many beautiful places you and Ruben visited, that it is hard to tell which one was the best, but flying in your backyard in BC, DEFINITELY has to be one of the best and nicest places to fly in the world. You are very fortunate to be able to fly there all the time. Can't wait to come up and visit.
    Safe Flying my friend!

Wow Mischa you are certainly living the dream. I love watching your videos and it's about time I booked my second flying lesson as my first was 17 years ago in a Hughes 300 flying from former WWII RAF base - Biggin Hill Airport 12 miles south of London. That was for my 40th birthday and the only thing flying by for me since then is time so maybe I should treat myself to giving it another go to again fulfil my childhood dream of taking the controls of a helicopter. Congratulations on having completed a year in the air you deserve it and thanks for sharing with us all it's really appreciated.

Fantastic - What an achievement! Love your ethos of always learning. My 'old man' finished his commerical flying career with 18,000+ hours and loved every minute of it and that was a career that started with him learning to fly a Tiger Moth in the 50's and finish on a BAC One-Eleven in the late 80's. I have about 150 hrs under a paramotor wing, so only 9850 to go ;-). Keep up the great content!!

Really enjoyed the beautiful scenery and motivating message! And big congratulations on reaching a notable milestone. Since you asked for comments... I'm a commercial fixed wing guy, been flying airplanes for almost 25 years but never set foot in a helicopter even though I've always been fascinated by them. Watching your videos over the past year has been a big factor in motivating me to pursue the rotor-wing add-on ratings. I'm now pretty close to wrapping up the private add-on (in a Cabri G2!) and am planning to jump right into instrument and commercial next. See you someday for the mountain course, I hope!

Beautiful video, Mischa. Congratulations on an amazing achievement! I'm a relative newcomer to your video feed and I have really enjoyed it. You asked what our favorite video was? I can't say I can point to any "one" video for that, but I can point to a couple of video threads that you have done in the past few years. As I said, I'm a relative newcomer here, but two of the threads that I've gotten the biggest kick out of watching were, one, the series of videos you did on Sam's initial flight training. It was so much fun watching as his flight skills started to gel and that perpetual smile he always had on his face! The second was your "Round the world" flight. Those videos got me through the first couple of weeks of this corona lockdown. It was almost like being in the helicopter with you and Rubin throughout the trip and it was amazing, such a grand adventure!
Mostly though, I have to say I'm very impressed with your teaching style. You have a love of flying and a love of teaching and it comes through. I was fortunate to have a flight instructor with those same attitudes when I earned my PP fixed wing license back in 1979. He made that process one of the highlights of my life and you remind me a lot of him in many ways. Thanks for everything and Fly Safe!

Beautiful location you are. Nothing like where i am right now. (The Netherlands) Everything is flat over here. Hope to see much more flying video's on your channel.

Congratulations Mischa, a great achievement and a sensational video. I think you are in the best place on earth to fly helicopters with all that magnificent scenery virtually on your doorstep. Keep flying and stay safe. I'm also adding a ditto to the previous comment. Could not have said it better myself. Cheers from Melbourne, Australia.

Wow! I got my Commercial Instrument license (ASEL) in 1990 but didn't end up in a different career. I really love flying and miss it terribly. I've flown a LOT of hours in Microsoft Flight Simulators and this is the kind of flying I like to do. Your videos are breathtaking and I really wish I could be up there doing that! Thanks for taking us along so we can experience the flying we want to do through you.

Great videos. You make me think about time I do and don’t spend with my own kids. Great to mention pictures and such from our own childhood times. We should all spend time with our kids experiencing our own memories with them.
My kids have been hanging with me at Oshkosh or such their whole lives. Funny but they just don’t remember it all! Lol. Sometimes sad that they don’t remember those days on my shoulders walking through the sea of aircraft. Now they are busy teen agers.
    Keep making those memories. 👍

Thanks for the video, it's amazing! It remember me of my story. I took my commercial class in 1996 at Helicraft, Montreal. Did some rides and photo with clients. A couple years after I bought with my father a Hughes 269B 1967 which I did nearly 500 hrs. I started a small company in Mont Tremblant but didn't go as planned. Too many expenses for the small contract I had. Anyway, it was an amazing journey! Very great full for it. I'm happy for you, You are living the dream!

Congratulations!! What a milestone! I love watching all your videos as they always inspire me to strive for flight training when I can!! My favourite video was probably the one of Sam going solo because it’s so noticeable how surreal he finds it! Keep up the amazing work!

Great video. I'm a GA fixed-wing pilot from Australia. But your videos make me want to take up Helicopter flying. Time is not on my side unfortunately, I'm 67. But keep up with the great work, you obviously have a love of aviation and Helicopters in particular.

Congrats, man! I am a new subscriber, not more than a month. But being locked down I have watched lots of your videos. Not all of them - there are a lot ) I love the "hill top - to the river bank" autorotation video. And your "return home after the round-the-world trip" video :) thank you for your clips and explanations. I like your truly helicopter-wise attitudes. (i'm a private pilot, moscow, russia, mi-2, mi-34, R44)

I love how Pilot Yellow as a channel and Mischa as a person, though I haven’t had the pleasure to meet you in person yet, has accompanied me in the journey ever since I was collecting money for the cpl, then during the studies, the flight training and trough every step, exams and everything. I can’t wait for this quarantine to be over and do the final exam!

That's a cool achievement, well done. You've certainly got some beautiful scenery to fly over there. I've only just started flying (30hrs in a R44), I love it and can't wait to be able to do it everyday as a commercial pilot. I've only been watching your videos for a few months but they're great, keep them coming. Hopefully one day I might get back over to Canada and fly over some of those awesome sights.
