It's not what I want, but more competition on the market will force other providers like Garmin to offer lower priced options than what is currently available.
One cool available feature for Garmin is rescue insurance. I’m curious to see what the subscription fees or insurance options Bivy provides for this communicator.
Sorry I’m new. So when linked to a phone does it make it a satellite phone?
You are not able to make phone calls when it is linked. Once it is connected to a phone, messaging, gps tracking, and emergency SOS is all ran through the Bivy app.
Is this safe for boaters ?
Yes it is. This has water rating of IPX7 which means it can be submerged in water up to 30 minutes. These work at sea or on land.
Can you suspend your account if not needed during certain times/months?
You cannot suspend an account. You can deactivate an account, which you will loose unused credits and the phone number assigned to the device. Upon reactivation you will start all over with credits and be assigned a new phone number.
