Again , a superb video 👍
I.hadn’t heard of this tragedy. Thank you Jamie
Thank you so much im glad you liked it 👍🏽
I've been fascinated by this story for most of my life. My Grandfather was Ralph Rogers one of the service men riding that night. He can be seen in one of the photos holding the baby. He survived to tell the story but many didn't. God Bless this families who will never forget. Ironically, I joined the Navy and now am in the U.S. Merchant Marine working as an officer on the Ferries of Puget Sound, WA. It's a story I tell occasionally when we're training. Peace and Prayers, Lorrie
My Great Uncle was one of the Service Men who went down with this ship
Thank you for highlighting this story, as I’d never heard of the ship or her fate before.
And Merry Christmas to you!
Thank you so much and good holidays to you to 👍🏽
Great video I really enjoyed it thank you I love all your videos ❤❤
Looked awesome as a ferry ! Happy Holidays to you and your Family 🎅Good Vid Jamie
Thank you so much for watching and yes Same to you 👍🏽
thank you for posting this. As someone who has been on the modern SS Caribou, i have personally seen the memorial on the ferry. Grew up visiting family in Newfoundland every summer, so well educated on this sad story. Its heartbreaking and for some reason there is so little about it online. So grateful for this. Their story should be told.
Thank you so much for watching and yes i could 't agree more
There was a second ferry named Caribou which sailed between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland from 1986-2011
Realy dident know
I traveled on the second Caribou many times. I am from Cape Breton, lived in Newfoundland for a few years. Still astonishes me that there were German UBoats off the coast of Cape Breton.
sad story, but greatly told!
Thank you so much
Thanks for this. I'm from Port aux Basques and my Uncle (by marriage) was Captain Taveners grandson. There were 21 windows and 54 fatherless children in our small town after that night.
I had an old friend who was born aboard the Caribou on June 12, 1942. Sadly, he passed away in 2022. I know he would have loved this video. My father was born in Rotterdam just three days before the Caribou was launched.
@@dwaveryn thank you so much for these kind words 😁 👍🏽
You're correct, Jamie!! I never heard of, this ONE either. You present more, assorted ship's documentaries, from ship's I'm unaware of. Thanks👍!!! The U-boat didn't pick up, any survivors, I assume😔??
Thank you so much for watching once again and no sadly they dident
Great job👍
Thank you young man
Hello from Newfoundland... the ferry ran from Port Aux Basque, I live near there.
Thats amazing sir thank you so much for watching i hope you liked it 👍🏽 😁
@@OldShippinglines You are very welcome. Yes you did it justice, very well done. Thank you.
Newfoundland Regiment Gallipoli Peninsula Coribou 🇨🇦
I live in Port aux Basques Newfoundland where this ship sailed from daily.
Any idea if the wreck has been found?
No it hasn't actually. The survivor's knew where she went down obviously but there has been no effort made to look for her. We go out each year to the site and throw a reef in the water.
My guy you are saying the word newfoundland wrong
It's new-fin-lan
Merry Christmas and happy new year Jamie!!!😀
thank you so much for watching and to you to my friend
