Sure if you ignore the action parts of the two cameras (that ride footage was so soft on the iphone from its "VR" system struggling to handle it). Also the gopro is like $400 vs the $1400 iphone....I would rather risk the gopro getting destroyed from water or being dropped or whatever over the overpriced phone.

It didn't make the cut, but it actually plunged down into that canal, due to an errant wind guest,t rose like the phoenix out of it, insanely, just inches above the water. Didn't come out well in the footage though, which is too bad.

This is a god level camera review of any phone. You have gone the extra mile to test the iphone 15 camera. I am planning to get the iphone 15. This video was really needed to buy a product
Great review! The GoPro looks like it has a little more dynamic range and detail. You can notice that in the clouds and and on your skin with the shadows. For some reason it looks like the iPhone has a little smoothing effect applied to it, but that might be because of the 0.5x lens vs the 1x lens.
I was about to comment on this as well. GoPro definitely has better software. I am not so fond of the smoothness coming out from the iPhone, too smooth.
The action mode looks really bad, I'd probably just stick with the normal mode. Stabilization might suffer a lot but I'm sure it would look much better. Taking a 1500$ iPhone mountain biking isn't exactly a good idea anyway.
The water jump and dirty water got me cringe. The drone flight got me emotional. The biker chase got me cracking up. Such a rollercoaster this review. Hats off to you sir! 👏👏👏

Thanks! I'd say it's close in some cases, but others is more challenging (like the fuzziness seen in a few iPhone scenarios, or the much darker image on the GoPro at night).

Second, I wish I'd googled "compare iPhone 15 to GoPro" three hours ago, it would have saved me way too many rabbit holes because... Third, this video and the iPhone 15 I just bought saved me $500+ since not only does the 15 compare surprisingly well against the GoPro, it beats it hands down in several instances (both audio and video). Now all I have to do is find the accessories for handle mount and underwater diving before I leave in five days.

The GoPro clearly is the better camera? I was thinking about the drone setup you had going on there. Would cable tying the cameras under the drone be more stable rather than on top? Great vid btw!

The commitment always amazes me. That cold plunge 😂 I'm surprised by how mushy the image looks on the iPhone vs the GoPro. I'd be curious to see if that's image quality or if it's 100% post-processing. I suspect at least part of it is post-processing, the GoPro looks like it has more sharpening, clarity, and contrast applied. I'd be curious to see a comparison of raw files and footage post processed to look as similar as possible.
Hello Mr. Rainmaker, it has been a long time since I had so much fun watching a UA-cam video. You have done a great job making this video. Speaking about the comparison, the iPhone 15 has pleasantly surprised me. It has an amazing camera.The city where you recorded is very beautiful.
The “fuzzy” footage in action mode on the iPhone is the motion blur of the camera shaking after the stabilization is applied to it. It’s normal. GoPro and DJI are kings with their stabilization software. iPhone looks pretty good also in a pinch. But I’ll keep my gimbal tho.
I'm actually surprised, I didn't see that fuzziness on the iPhone 14 last year (and using it a lot this past year as a second camera). Something is different here...
A lot to consider too such as mimicking g the sharpening and denoising of the software. Generally seems the go pro like and sounds more natural with these auto settings

Is inpressive how much tech the iPhone packs to get the best looking photos, but the form factor and the mounting gear is impractical for shooting realy good action sceenes. You won't see someone having an IPhone strapped to their helmet or the snowboard any time soon

You should have put a HRM on him, I bet when he realized some soaked dude holding a weird contraption in their hand was running after him in the dark and rain the adrenaline really kicked in and his HR maxed as he was in full-on sprint mode to get away. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

It's because the main camera of the iphone has the better lens but that makes it way too standard FOV to compete with the gopro.
The action mode looks really bad, I'd probably just stick with the normal mode. Stabilization might suffer a lot but I'm sure it would look much better.
Taking a 1500$ iPhone mountain biking isn't exactly a good idea anyway.
0.5x lens is drastically inferior to the main lens.
