Your reactions are really interesting and don't ever apologize about how long they run. You have a different point of view than most reactors, and that is worth the time to watch. Their entire album Human:Nature has marvelous lyric videos. The care taken on each video is amazing. They're not live, but they are visually compelling. You could start with the first track, Music and work your way through to the last track Endlessness and not find a single boring experience.

Thank you for continuing this wild ride, you have a new subscriber here.
I'm glad you reacted to this music video, which is basically a satire on the excesses of social media. The devices themselves are not criticized here, but the way in which they are used to create a virtual reality parallel to the real one, but false. The excesses / lies come to light after the breakdown: the one who has a different opinion from the others (red screen) is executed by the mob, the mother who presents her beautiful family life online practically imprisons her child, the promoter of non-prescription drugs sold online is a lonely and depressed man, the girl who shows herself more or less naked online maintains her image with cosmetic surgery, the golden throne of the "king" is a toilet, and the environmentalist signaler actually bathes in oil. All this fake virtual reality keeps the brainwashed consumer (the child who spends his whole life "connected") away from the nature of which he is a part.
There are several interesting music videos created by Nightwish over a quarter of a century of existence, each reflecting different artistic concepts: "The Carpenter", "Over The Hills And Far Away", "Bless The Child", "End Of All Hope" (processed images from the concert and sequences from a movie), "Sleeping Sun" (here are even 2 variants with 2 different concepts), "Nemo", "Wish I Had An Angel", "Amaranth", "Bye Bye Beautiful", "The Islander", "While Your Lips Are Still Red" (with images from a film for which it was the soundtrack), "Storytime" (with images from the filming of "Imaginaerum" - a film created by Nightwish) , "Endless Forms Most Beautiful", "Elan" (you reacted to this one), "Noise" (this one) and "All The Works Of Nature Which Adorn The World - Ad Astra". If I did something wrong, the other fans will correct me.
The music videos above are put in chronological order, so if you have the curiosity to go through them, you will see an evolution of the artistic means used.
    Greetings from Romania!

    This song speaks volumes !!!!
The “noise” which Nightwish talks about in this song is a metaphor for constantly being plugged into the “matrix”. Or a simpler way of putting it is that this song is based on the concept of the modern human dependency on electronic media being a bad thing. don't get me wrong , virtual media is not entirely bad, but it's abuse is.
The hole Human. :II: Nature. album is basically slap in our face (what we need ), about nature and our role in it. This album is absolutely brilliant !!!!!
Floor Jansen (third and current singer of Nightwish) was the mother with the little girl doing selfies. Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish) was eco warrior and bathing in oil. Emppu Vuorinen (Finnish guitarist, most famous for being a founding member of Nightwish and occasional songwriter) on phone getting stabbed. Kai Hahto (Drummer) taking pictures of stabbing, Marko Hietala (Ex member and Bassist) the pill pusher and Troy Donockley (is an English composer and multi-instrumentalist most known for his playing of Uilleann pipes, tin whistle, vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, pump organ, bouzouki, cittern, bodhrán, mandola, harmonium, aerophone) the king on his throne/toilet.
The blonde model is Jessica Edstrom, an actual internet "influencer". She is pretty big in Europe, and was willing to do this video which pokes fun at the world in which she makes a living. I'd say she's pretty cool for doing this.
    "Sunset is free
    From this deity
The Earth has a real voice
Go out and get in" !!!
Favorite lyric from this song !!!
    Nuff Said !!!!
    NWSU/FloorFan.

MJust get one fact right the little girl IS NOT FLOOR'S DAUGHTER. Floor & Hannes have never allowed her face to appear on screen - the first photograph of her was of her tiny hand clutching Floor's finger.
Apart from that - the rest of your post is entirely correct.

Howdy Joe E. Really good reaction to this video. Nightwish is a relatively new obsession for me.
Looking for other suggestions? One of my favorite OMVs in the past few years is from a young band of Mexican sisters called The Warning. They have an original song called "XXI Century Blood". It is also a very poignant commentary on modern society. The official music video is well put together and has won a number of awards. Based on your background and your thoughts on NOISE, I think you might really enjoy it.

You say that nothing is going to top this in the next reaction you do. I'll happily suggest one that could come close. As you've seen this from Nightwish, and yes, the holiday season has come and gone, I would suggest that you react to the video for "Christmas Truce", by the Swedish band Sabaton. There is a connection to Nightwish in that video, as the blond guy in the video, Hannes, is married to Floor Jansen, who is the singer for Nightwish. Also, with Sabaton, their albums have been about war, and history, so they give an unbiased, and factual depiction of what they are talking about. In this case, it would be the actual Christmas Truce that occurred between the British/French and German soldiers during World War 1, in 1914. They did an amazing job on that, and as a videographer, you would definitely enjoy what they put together with a movie production company during COVID. Definitely have a look at this, as I think you'll enjoy the work they did there.

The singer is Floor Jansen (pron: Yan-sen). She's Dutch, the band originates from Finland.
Love this song. My son and I had tickets to their show in London in December 2020, it got delayed twice. We had to wait until December 2022. London was the first stop on their international tour after lockdown. They came out of the traps like greyhounds who'd been caged, and launched into this song. Floor was on fire. The whole place erupted. It was worth waiting for.
I came to your channel after just watching the Ghost Love Score reaction, which I really enjoyed. I can tell you that their sound live is as good as you hear it on these videos. Floor has a massive stage presence. She's the third Nightwish singer. If you want to start a fight just ask fans for their favourite! Truth be told most fans will say they're all good, just different. Though I'd bet that Floor comes out on top. For me, it depends on the song.
Recommendations will come thick and fast once the Nightwish army turn up. I'll start with 'Poet and the Pendulum' - Wembley 2016. Floor will make you cry.
If you want a taste of their origins then anything from the End of an Era live show which features their first singer Tarja (pron: Tah-Ya). NGL I love Tarja too.
Enjoy your trip down the rabbit hole!

As so many others said: We watch your reactions because you pause and take the time to actually appreciate what's going on or to point out things that you notice ;) I personally really like that.
As for more songs to react to from Nightwish: My personal absolute favourite music video + song combination from Nightwish is a song called "The Islander" of which you have a music video AND a live performance (in Tampere) that you can draw from. Generally, you cannot go wrong with anything from Nightwish, so if you see something that sparks (pun intended) your interest, just go for it! Keep up the good work! :)

Always nice to watch a reaction where someone gets it. Nightwish have a number of good music videos, but I think that "Noise" is their pinnacle. While it won't give you the same video thrill, their lyric videos are works of art as well. You could pick any lyric video from the Human:||:Nature album and score a winner, but I think that "Music" and "Shoemaker" edge out the rest, though "Pan" and "Harvest" are damn good as well. Then there's "Tribal". Oh damn, just watch the entire thing.
Speaking of "Tribal" Nightwish just dropped a compilation of live performances of "Tribal" when the band went on tour after the pandemic. ua-cam.com/video/FnMqKZ-Ojt8/v-deo.html. And ya, she was about six months pregnant while headbanging.
"Shoemaker" ua-cam.com/video/Rjp_DfvJimg/v-deo.html It's about Eugene Shoemaker, planetary scientist whose ashes are scattered on the moon. You have to know that to understand the context of the lyrics. The quote from "Romeo and Juliet" was inscribed on his urn that was smashed into a lunar crater named after him. Very cool.
"Music" is about Music as an entity speaking to humanity during our evolution: ua-cam.com/video/rwz7-h9LCDU/v-deo.html. "Singing the song of another man" is just one of many great phrases.

Hi Joe E. Thanks for reacting to this official video of Noise, from their album Human Nature. Your reaction did not disappoint and you got the message! Glued to our phones, ego tripping through life, addicted to selfies to the extent that filming violence is more important than helping out, the clean facade we show the world. And than the realality of every daty life is shown. How ridiculous it all seems if you think about this. This latest album is full of gems. Music wise and message wise. The songs are very versatile. I would suggest you check out a few of the wonderful lyrics videos. My favourite is Pan. The music is awesome and the lyrics video is a gem. Have a nice day, greetings from the Netherlands.

Just loving the expressions on your face! Yeah, I'm still taking in new things. Just noticed the hexagonal floor and the people in robes walking at the edge of the frame a few days ago. Took me ages to notice Troy's "Throne".
Floor is the one singing. The only videos I can think of are a lyric video named Shoemaker, Amaranth or Storytime (has behind the scenes from their movie Imaginaerum). Best to watch are Nightwish's live masterpieces of Poet and the Pendulum ( at Wembley ) or Greatest Show on Earth (at Wembley or Tampere ). All of these are great songs!

For a visual artist I definitely recommend the Tampere performance of the Greatest Show on Earth - it's amazing. That stage, the lighting, the pyro, everything is designed to further the story; an amazing piece of work.

  • @HWaii
    @HWaii 4 місяці тому +4

Probably not suitable for a reaction video, but maybe interesting: With "Imaginaerum" Nightwish created an actual movie! It was even shown in several movie theatres, but only for a very short time or even only once. I think it's not the greatest movie of all time, but of course the film music is phantastic (basically featuring the whole album "Imaginaerum"). It was not with Floor, but they created it during their time with the second singer, Anette Olzon.
I am happy that I had the opportunity to watch it on a big screen.

Yep, the woman that you where asking about at 11.20 is Floor Jansen. She is the lead singer of Nightwish since more than 11 years now. And indeed she can sing! Actually she is one of the best metal singers on the planet, and she can do practically every style you can ever need in metal, from deep death growls to operatic or classical singing in the flick of a dime, but also beautifull pure celtic / folky voices to powerfull rockvoices with distortion and all kinds of mixed voices... That coupled to her unrivalled stage presence and storytelling capabilities, and you'll under why they call her the Queen and the "Valkiry Godess"...

You're bang on with the red screen meaning he's "cancelled". You actually picked up on a lot more than most for a first run through. The whole video is an absolute feast of visuals and I don't think anyone could take it ALL in with only one viewing. Even the ridiculous stuff, like the drummer, Kai, taking a selfie in front of the crowd beating Empuu down, we WISH was just a parody, but we know it's not. It really has gotten that bad out there. Some live/video side by side pairs: Elan live at Buenos Aires 2018 and the video both with Floor; The Islander live at Tampere Marco as lead, video with Anette; Amaranth live Wacken 2013 video Anette, Wish I Had an Angel video with Tarja and Marco live with Tarja and Marco 2005 or Floor and Marco Wacken 2013.
The videos listed are more artistic/cinematic except for Wish I Had an Angel which is more like a traditional music video. Tarja was the first female vocalist and Anette was the second.

    Hey Joe, greetings from UK
Another great reaction, thank you 😉
I think the next video you should take a look at is a song called 'Elan'. The extras in that video are apparently all well known Finnish movie stars who jumped at the chance to be in the video. I must confess though that I didn't recognise any of them 😂

The last parts of the video were like seeing behind the curtain (reality) the child was a prisoner, the king was normal(on the Lew) , the tree hugger was also the oil man, and the weight loss drug guy was actually fat and lazy …
It’s so easy to forget the reality of our world when being consumed by the screen …

Excellent reaction! You always show your feelings/emotions & thoughts about the song/video you're reacting to. On top of that your expertise explaining how the videos are made: camera movement, effects, shadows, colours ....the whole visual story!
    I love it!
    ¡Gracias!

According to Nightwish, no hatred for technology. Just put it down now and then and go out and live real life. It is still just outside your front door. Yes, that is Floor Jansen the vocalist for Nightwish. you understand this video concept perfectly my friend. I had a strong feeling you would love this one.

There is a unique MV done by a user that captures the heart of one of their newest accomplishments. On the channel The Painted World of Ash, they did a video for the second CD of the Human::Nature album. It is called All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World. I believe it was done by using all stock videos, but it perfectly captures the heart and feel of the music.
This piece of music was done with a full orchestra and focuses on Nature and the world around us. Even if you don't do it as a reaction, it is well worth watching.
Another band I would suggest looking at, similar to Nightwish is Epica. For a Music Video, I would suggest the song Storm the Sorrow to start. For a live video, watch Kingdom of Heaven Part 3 from the Omega Alive virtual concert. You won't be disappointed.

For me this is an exceptional video and probably the best singing but there are others. Another that still features Floor singing is Endless Forms Most Beautiful. An amazing recent release is a compilation of several live performances of TRIBAL from the same album as NOISE. It was an eventful tour as Floor was diagnosed with cancer and had an operation before continuing the tour until Xmas 2022 after which she had treatment and continued the tour only to discover her pregnancy !! The last concert featured is when she is still rocking when over 5 months and only did one more concert before the tour was cancelled. ua-cam.com/video/FnMqKZ-Ojt8/v-deo.htmlsi=q6Jjtuho884ClWyX

For cinematic music video, The Islander is very good, for live anything from Wacken 2013 or Wembley 2015 is a fantastic watch/listen. Honestly, it’s hard to go wrong with their work. They are true artists and put so much of themselves into everything they produce.

If you want to go cinematic try either Élan with Floor the lead singer now, Amaranth with Anette Olzon who was the lead singer from 2007-2012 or Sleeping Sun [2005 Version] with Tarja Turunen the original OG singer of Nightwish. My wife wanted men to add Nemo to that list as it's on of her favorite Nightwish songs and if you want to hear Marco check out The Islander another of her favorites.

Loving your reactions--and if you want some more amazing, cinematic quality music videos, you NEED to check out Sabaton. Their cover of Motorhead's 1916, or The Christmas Truce, or Bismarck--really, all of their videos (including the animated ones) are fantastic. But those three are great to start with. (They also have their own history channel, where an historian who works with them goes into more detail about the subjects of their songs. He also got to be in some of the music videos, which he was adorably excited about. :D)

We could write a masters thesis on this video. As just one example, look at the use of hexagons in this video. The symbol at the end is cuneiform with the top symbol being nature/heaven (Nature) and the bottom symbols representing man and woman (Humanity) - which is the symbol for their album Human:||:Nature.

Jessica Edstrom was the "model" - playing herself!? (not really!) Loved your reaction and interpretation. Got yaself a new sub. Nightwish Army, Blue Mountains Corps, Australia. Nightwish since 1996. edit - liked the reference to Berlin's "Take My Breath Away" towards the end - not even the best track on their album! The video for "Amaranth" is worth looking at (before Floor) but anything live from 2013 on is unbeatable!!

In terms of music videos, I would say this one is the most impressive. The video for The Islander is beautiful and definitely worth a watch. It demonstrates that Nightwish is so entrancing that campfires sit around them. There are many other great videos from Nightwish, but they don't match up as well with your personal expertise for commentary.
I'd also recommend another band in the Nightwish Universe that does incredible videos- Sabaton. The two bands are deeply connected through personal and professional relationships. Their videos for Bismark and the animated story video (the 7 minute one) for Night Witches are exceptionally cool.

Great Reaction. If you want music video try Shoemaker, you will love it, or their latest live release Tribal (footage from various Live performances with heavy CGI augmentation - Floor is heavily pregnant in some but still headbanging - and rocking like the Valkyrie goddess she is. If you want live spectacle try Greatest Show on Earth (live at Tampere) or Poet and Pendulum (live at Wembley - the last time they will ever perform this live as it has so much emotional background) Take note of the three minute line and set a count down on that.

Yes, Nightwish knows who to trust with making videos but the Fan made ones are really what blows me away. If you have a lot of time the Fan made Video for "All The Works Of Nature Which Adorn The World" (B-Side of their latest album Human // Nature) is really stunning work.

I am that idiot who has watched two dozens of reactions to this video and you know what? You are the first person that caught "the cancel part" of it. And reacted somehow to the part in which the guy (drummer Kai Hahto) takes selfie about that attack. That is the most important display of this video for people to understand. That how mean they can be to each other via social media.
