13:06 the Martian music is so creepy, and it goes so well with those sundrenched backdrops on screen. Inferno has some deeply sinister sound-washes and soundscapes that make everything so doomladen. It's a huge part of the weirdness and nastiness of that story.
The impressive thing about all this music (and the various intermingled sounds) is how different it all is, and yet how equally brilliantly it fits and enhances the mood of each of the stories and helps establish its tone.
As much as I like Dudley Simpsons brilliant work - the score for Inferno (plus Douglas Camfields directing) gave that story a nightmare quality unlike anything since
The Liz Shaw melody as she is being driven to UNIT HQ and the other-worldly tune from Ambassadors of Death are my rwo favourites from this season. I have them both as ringtones.
Ranking Season 7’s Scores: 4). Spearhead from Space - Dudley Simpson 3). The Silurians - Carey Blyton 2). The Ambassadors of Death - Dudley Simpson 1). Inferno - Stock Music (All 4 of these scores are fantastic tho & are in my Top 10 Scores for Pertwee)
I see people elsewhere referring to the Silurian Soundtrack in a derogatory way by writing "kazoo!" alongside, but I'm pretty sure that the dominant tooting sound in the Silurian story was actually performed on something like a fluglehorn or a core anglais (however you spell it!)?

I adore classic who music, it just sounds so alien and suits the show really well!

These are amazing productions, thank you for the time you've spent on them. I hope in time you will get to do the rest of the 3rd Doctor's stories.
gingerladyaubern I plan to. It’s just a matter of finding some time to work on them

Sorry to not have commented before - fab as always. What about a Season 8 compilation to celebrate the release of the Blu-Ray??
It’s on the way.
@@DanTheMan2150AD How's The Season 8 compilation going Dan? Can't get enough of these!
Just Colony in Space left to do
@@DanTheMan2150AD Fabulous - can't wait!
13.05 can anyone identify this???
It’s the Ambassadors Theme
Composed by Dudley Simpson and apparently recorded on 2nd February 1970.
I think it's actually a recreated version made for the U.N.I.T Family DVD extra, in the actual episode there's a harpsichord, not a piano
@@Telly_1 what dvd is the extra on?
