I was shocked at how much cheaper grocery prices were at Walmart than Publix (and Dollar Tree). They're going to drive a lot of other stores out of business. Is this a good or bad thing for the economy...?
Thats been the plan all along. Walmart & big stores put the small, local businesses out & as time goes by when they’ve crushed all the competition they jack the prices up & you have no other real options, & the Walmarts & Amazons control it all. ( sort of like VP’s communist “Price Control” plan).
Thats been the the plan all along. Walmarts and Amazons came into areas, slowly pushing the smaller businesses out and once they’ve crushed them, the Walmarts and Amazons & gov control it all, then jack up the prices higher than they’ve ever been. Our options become more & more limited & the ability of owning a small business becomes harder & harder, until your only option is a monopolized government run, one stop shopping. ( sort of like the VP’s communist “Price Control” plan).
Exactly! All I ask for my job is to pay me the same the next year adjusting for inflation. Not even asking for a raise. If inflation is 8%, give me 8% more. The shareholders and stock went up by double digits. They can afford to pay the employees the inflation adjustment. Edit: I got 2% raise last year. 😢
@@slickdiggler1197 Yeah, ugh. All price controls do is make the product unavailable AT ANY PRICE! But why would we expect a US President understand basic economics?
I work for Publix and they recently had an emergency meeting in Orlando calling in all managers, which rarely happens. Turns out revenue is down and leadership wants our focus to be on lows and out of stocks on the shelves, which has ALWAYS been a priority. Leadership is out of touch with our customers and don’t understand that people can’t afford to shop at Publix. Even the associates they work for the company will shop elsewhere. Walmart and Aldi are taking customers from us and they can’t seem to understand that people are struggling and need to stretch their dollar.
@@l2xsniper1 even after the “discount”you’re still better shopping elsewhere. Most of our customer show up for the BOGOs and other good deals. You can save at Publix if you shop smart.
I shop Publix and WinDixie because I get to both stores with out a traffic light drama. like Publix for just about everything except for prices. Stores are clean and well stocked and customer service is very good. However, Publix is out of touch with reality. I shop WinDixie because I feel they have better prices. I shop Publix because of produce quality. Like shown in the video, I shop Target for eggs, milk and other things we need because they have better prices. Our Walmart competes with everybody. I generally find that Walmart is not significantly cheaper on most items for me to make a separate trip there.
Several industries are experiencing the same situation, with the same leadership response. Amazing how out of touch people who are supposed to have their finger on the pulse of the markets are now. It's not rocket science, the economy is crap, costs are too high, debt of households is high, so what would one think is going to happen? Duh.....even Homer Simpson could figure this one out.
We shop at Aldi and they are 30 to 50% less than Publix on almost every item. Yes it requires giving up devotion to name brands. Saving $200 to $300 a month on groceries makes it worth it.

I think there are 2 massive money sinks everyone has, thats housing, and insurance. Be it health, auto, home ,etc. Those 2 things are going up at incredible levels, and they are not offering anything extra. Then, you see wages are nearly stagnant. My wife and I have a very high combined salary, but one thing has remained a constant over the last 5 years - we shop at Aldi 95% of the time. I don't understand why anyone is shopping at Whole Food's, Publix, etc. Most grocery stores need a reality check big time, especially Publix. Publix pricing is egregious. Last time I shopped there, we needed a few extra last minute items for a BBQ and it's a 2 minute drive versus 20 minutes to Aldi. Walked out of there $60 lighter, and all I got was some sodas, charcoal and produce. That would've been maybe $30 at Aldi.
They don't sell the Emperor's new clothes at Aldi, is the issue. The comments are crawling with people who think there's something wrong with the produce at Walmart, and there isn't. Maybe your local Walmart is messed up, that's a you problem. These people would have to let go of some real nasty classism in order to save a buck on cereal, and they can't do it.
It is called "The Walmart Effect" This has been long known & understood by Walmart. Initially, they undercut local businesses to bring in customers. This takes customers away from mom & pop's causing many to close. Once market domination is achieved, Walmart raises prices.
Modern America is boring. It's a copy/paste format all across this nation with strip malls, Starbucks, single family homes, apartments and condos. The soul of America has burnt out a long time ago. We have no real identity anymore.
Some mom and pop places join a large franchise like IGA they get them better prices with buying power of a larger chain but they still own the store and run it day to day.
Commenting from Ontario... last week, when I went shopping at our walmart, I felt so frustrated. Im a very conscientious shopper. I try to shop only discounted items, and my family has had to seriously cut down, particularly on meats. Anyway, at the till, i scanned the meats first. What I purchased was a single 1lb chub of ground beef, a small rotisserie chicken, a package of breakfast sausage (26 sausages), two packets of Great Value bacon, and a package of 6 chicken breasts. It all rang up to $98. Almost $100. I hate going grocery shopping because it seems like every trip is more disheartening than the last 😢
I needed a box fan and some containers for my garden. I went to Goodwill thinking those items would be around $5. A USED box fan at good will was $10. Rubbermaid containers were $5.99 each. At goodwill!!!!!!! I unfortunately went to Walmart and got those same items brand new for less due to roll back pricing. I’ve never been a Walmart shopper until this year. As a single person working two jobs just to get by I fear for our future because I do t know how single moms or blue collar families are going to continue if this crap doesn’t change.

Walmart has always been cheaper than most places, no surprise there. What is a surprise is a few years ago Walmart began to test a pricing scheme where a particular item, let's say their Great Value food storage bags, which comes in various counts like 25, 50, or 75 in a box... They must've figured out that most people buy the larger count boxes because they think they're saving money, and in the past that was true, but Walmart was and probably still is cashing in on this consumer phenomenon by increasing the price of the larger quantity boxes while the smaller quantities are cheaper, don't believe me next time you go to Walmart take the price of something and divide it by the ounces or quantity, then do the same for the larger and smaller ones. You might find a particular item is cheaper in the smaller size or quantity.

We grow our own produce and purchase our meat at the farm down the road. But for all other items, we shop at Walmart. Best prices, best selection hands down.
People in the US are living longer than ever. And we have more people over 90 years old and over 100 years old than any other country. I guess it is the pollution and rotten food and lack of health care.
They are good price comparison points to use when looking at different stores though. Stuff like fresh meat and produce prices vary drastically even between counties or states. Canned soup and bread should remain similar enough to at least be comparable.
From the look of things they’re certainly on their last legs in Tennessee too. A freaking dollar general on seemingly every other corner outside of the big cities.
I shop at Trader Joe’s. Always. Walmart is bad for communities honestly and siphons out money which would normally stay in that community. Also… it’s ghetto
The local Walmart in my area just replaced all their price tags with exponentially higher ones! Those same eggs you just showed are now $5.98 for 12 great value eggs! The 18 count was $8.98! I walked around and noticed everything was at least a dollar or more higher than last week. Scary
Publix prices been up. But you're paying for the selection, customer service, and not having to shop at Walmart. Aldi is where you get the best deals tho
I go to Walmart almost everyday. Prices are cheaper but still higher than a few years ago. I also go to Publix at times. Quality of produce and ppl in general is better than Walmart.
Every day? Might consider their $99/yr home delivery subscription - over $35 delivery free otherwise $9.95. Also free shipping on alot of items comes with the subscription, signed up 01/2019 and haven't stepped in a store since, SUPER timesaver!
Here in the midwest jewel osxo is the grocer who holds the monopoly in the industry. Now if you wait for the sale and clip the coupons the prices are the same as before 2020 but it takes ALOT of effort.
I primarily shop at Jewel and I feel like I get a good deal. I just looked at the app and most things were the same as Walmart prices (minus eggs, which go up and down). We also have Trader Joe’s, which can be very reasonable. I usually shop sales at Jewel though and always clip coupons.
Walmarts even become cheaper than Aldi over where I live which is crazy to me. Aldis eggs were always the affordable go-to, but now Walmarts are about 40 cents cheaper.
My friend is a manager at Walmart. They set prices at each individual store. Your store is probably setting their prices to try and compete with Aldi. They call it their “competitive pricing strategy”. They do this to try and put all other stores out of business and then after they do this they raise the prices. They do this over and over in communities.
We shifted to Walmart because it’s closer to us. We are tired of driving 20 miles to save a dollar. And if you know what to look for there are a few people car camping in the parking lot!
Good point but you can't compare. That is a warehouse club. It is comparable to Sam's Club or BJs. By the way, Sam's Club is a lot cheaper than both Costco and BJs- especially Costco because there is a labor union there. BJs may have one too.
@@tubecontributor3206 I haven't check in Sam's club but last year I joined Costco and if you do the math, it's totally worth it vs Walmart. Only problem is that you have to buy everything in bulk. Even paying the membership it's still. Much cheaper. Also with the executive membership I get 2% back and with everything being so expensive these days I get back way more than the cost of the membership. I'm sure Sam's and BJ's is the same or maybe even cheaper.

*Someone said that it's time to be concerned when you start to see individuals shoplifting groceries rather than big-screen televisions, and i agree. Truth is, inflation will never reach 2% ever again, maybe in the next life, but not this one. Anyone purchasing groceries and gasoline is aware that real inflation is much over 10%; they simply lie about it like cheap blankets. In reality, interest rates would be in the 20s because of how high inflation is. But then despite the severe bear market, I am aware of certain investors that continue to earn over $365,000. Wish I could accomplish that.*
Very possible! Particularly in this weak market. There are several opportunities to generate excellent returns, but such intricate transactions can only be carried out by seasoned market professionals.

Yeah, things may be hard right now, but I've come to realize both bear and bull market, recessions and economic boom, all provide opportunities to make high gains, I used to call bluff on folks that bragged about making a fortune from such down-markets until I happened to do so myself.
There are a lot of strategies to make tongue-wetting profit especially in this down market, but such sophisticated trades can only be carried out by proper market experts
I think having an investment advisor is the way to go. I've been with one because I lack the expertise for the market. I made over $490K during the recent dip, highlighting that there's more to the market than we average folks know.
If you shop carefully at Publix you don't have to go broke and the food is of better quality. I don't buy junk... Just basic fruits veggies,, eggs, etc.
walmart provides valuable competition in local grocery markets and on the whole is a slightly good thing for our economy and americans. do know though that walmart prices things differently in different areas based on local conditions. yes, walmart likes its biggest suppliers to have a sales office in its headquarters city and its in the best interest of those big suppliers to do so because walmart may be their largest single customer. and walmart does have a buy american policy and encourages its suppliers to employ americans here in america which is very positive for american manufacturing and jobs. finally, walmart provides solid, reliable, appreciable dividends for millions of pensioners through their pension funds (walmart is the largest single holding of many large state pension funds) and through mutual funds owned by others so walmart profits go right back to americans.
Its heartening to see other people talking about how hard it's been lately I thought I was going crazy. My family puts my husband and I down for not wanting to blow thousands of dollars on a tiny overpriced box where My rent will keep going up out of my control. You never have to go inside. They have pickup service and they also have delivery service. They even have a level for in home delivery where they’ll out the order away for you too. These are types of options higher income people are using. They aren’t walking the aisles like other people.
@@NonExDad He doesn't need a moral justification, if a person doesn't want to shop there, and they can afford not to, more power to them. At Publix they actually have happy employees filling their registers to get you out the door quickly. Screw Walmart and their 40 registers with only 2 employees and 10 self checkout lines with a 15-30 minute wait.
If you ever see an Aldi's store near you go inside to be pleasantly shocked. I have one near home and one 1/2 way between home and work. I only buy at Wal-Mart what I can't find at Aldi's. Aldi's sales/customer is almost twice that of Wal-Mart.

In the San Francisco Bay Area, Grocery Store Outlet is cheaper than Walmart. You can get staples there and then get your specialty items at Luckys, Safeway or Walmart.
Unfortunately, not all of us were financially literate early. I was 35 when I finally educated myself and started taking steps. I went from $176,000 in debt with zero savings or retirement to now, 2 years later, fully debt-free and over $1000,000 net worth. I know that doesn't SOUND like a lot, but I'm incredibly proud of it. Now I'm fast-tracking my wealth building (investing $400,000 annually) and don't owe a dime to anyone. It's a good feeling!

The local Walmart parking lot is a sea of trash, dirty diapers & broken shopping carts. It is also a good place to get your liscence plate stolen or your car broken into. If Walmart was giving away groceries for free I wouldn't go back.
Thanks for sharing that. I've avoided going for decades now. The gravitational pull of unsavory and uncultured characters can be real. After a while you realize that running out of the store screaming like a six year old getting let out school recess to return to the safer highlands gets tedious and tiresome. Of course that's just my very humble opinion.
What neighborhood and state is that LOL. And lucky for you they have pick up service or delivery service. You never have to step foot in the store. That’s the part this video left out. That is a large reason why higher net worth people are using Walmart more because Walmart invested a ton of money building out those upscale services like Walmart+.

Everyone needs more than their salary to be financial stable. The best thing to do with your money is to invest it rightly, because money left for saving always end up used with no returns.
Am looking for something to venture into on a short term basis, I really need to create an alternate source of income, what do you think I should be buying?
I buy most of my groceries at Walmart even before the “recession”. I don’t see why I’d pay more for the same product somewhere else. Aldi is also a great choice, but its inventory is kinda limited.
I do the math and buy the items I buy and buy them wherever I can get them the cheapest. I have no chain loyalty. I am about my bottom line, not theirs.
They are not the cheapest place to buy groceries. HEB and Joe V's have better deals. Walmart meat is nasty. Walmart also cheats on weights: bread that is supposed to be 20oz but is 17 oz. They still weight meat with 2 or 3 oz of saline in the meat pad beneath the meat. Be happy to show you the photos.

I work for Publix and they recently had an emergency meeting in Orlando calling in all managers, which rarely happens. Leadership is out of touch with our customers and don’t understand that people can’t afford to shop at Publix. Even the associates they work for the company will shop elsewhere. I think there are 2 massive money sinks everyone has, thats housing, and insurance. Be it health, auto, home ,etc. Those 2 things are going up at incredible levels, and they are not offering anything extra. Then, you see wages are nearly stagnant. The government gets involved (which is never good and they wont anyway) or people collapse on 1 of those 2 costs, likely insurance.

Every crash/collapse brings with it an equivalent market chance if you are early informed and equipped, I've seen folks amass up to $1m amid economy crisis, and even pull it off easily in favorable conditions. Unequivocally, the collapse is getting somebody somewhere rich

You cant get good quality organic goods at aldis
YES!
Publix is good for it’s BOGO’s
They don't sell the Emperor's new clothes at Aldi, is the issue. The comments are crawling with people who think there's something wrong with the produce at Walmart, and there isn't. Maybe your local Walmart is messed up, that's a you problem. These people would have to let go of some real nasty classism in order to save a buck on cereal, and they can't do it.
I live in Central Oregon. We don't have Aldi or Publix. We have Winco and Costco for better prices than Safeway, Fred Meyer or Whole Foods.
We lived in a small town in Denver area before Walmart. There was lots of mom and pops. 5 years after they opened, about half the mom and pops closed.
So what? It seems your neighbors didn't like getting gouged by the mom and pop stores.
It is called "The Walmart Effect"
This has been long known & understood by Walmart.

I have done that occasionally and have seen that some smaller sized packages were less costly per ounce.
There is literally a “cost per ounce” listed in the corner of most price tags at Wally.
@@michaeldalton8374 If you can find the tag. The other problem is the same product many times will be measured differently to get the final price, depending on size or flavor making it impossible to compare.

The U6 number that counts discouraged workers is at 7.9%. This is more of an accurate reflection of the true unemployment rate.

Some economists have projected that both the U.S. and parts of Europe could slip into a recession for a portion of this year. A global recession, defined as a contraction in annual global per capita income, is relatively rare because China and emerging markets typically grow faster than developed economies. My friend is a manager at Walmart. They set prices at each individual store. Your store is probably setting their prices to try and compete with Aldi. They call it their “competitive pricing strategy”. They do this to try and put all other stores out of business and then after they do this they raise the prices. They do this over and over in communities.
Walmart is where middle/upper middle class shop discreetly you just park your car and Walmart employee puts the bags in your trunk and you drive off ❤
I’ve tried. When they cancel my order that took me time to create, I don’t want to deal with them.
We shifted to Walmart because it’s closer to us.
We are tired of driving 20 miles to save a dollar.
And if you know what to look for there are a few people car camping in the parking lot!
I might do car camping.
$1,400. for a 1 bed 1 bath apartment.
i could be saving that
@@MarandalThe 20s all over again
Publix has always been more expensive than Walmart- and they essentially sell the same items. It was that way back in 2019 and beyond
Walmart food is hit and miss. Never buy meats there.
Exactly! I'll never eat their meat.
Never buy anything that spoils from Walmart because I use to work overnights
Publix is always found in rich neighborhoods.
Costco beats Walmart prices all day everyday.
@@tubecontributor3206Sam’s club is owned by Walmart, probably why it’s cheaper. Still better than physically shopping at Walmart though
LOL! Love this Channels disclaimer: "This video content is intended only for informational, educational, and entertainment purposes" this channel is entertaining...
It's sad how difficult things have become in the present generation. I was wondering how to Utilize some money I had. I used some of it for e-commerce business, but that sank. I'm thinking of how to use what's left to invest, but I don't really know which way to go.
Publix sources a lot more local stuff. Walmart does not, they prefer Monsanto and other crap.
If you shop carefully at Publix you don't have to go broke and the food is of better quality. I don't buy junk... Just basic fruits veggies,, eggs, etc.
Great video Nick. Aldi is the store for groceries now. I won't set foot in Walmart. I live in north Florida.
walmart provides valuable competition in local grocery markets and on the whole is a slightly good thing for our economy and americans. do know though that walmart prices things differently in different areas based on local conditions. yes, walmart likes its biggest suppliers to have a sales office in its headquarters city and its in the best interest of those big suppliers to do so because walmart may be their largest single customer. and walmart does have a buy american policy and encourages its suppliers to employ americans here in america which is very positive for american manufacturing and jobs. finally, walmart provides solid, reliable, appreciable dividends for millions of pensioners through their pension funds (walmart is the largest single holding of many large state pension funds) and through mutual funds owned by others so walmart profits go right back to americans.
Its heartening to see other people talking about how hard it's been lately I thought I was going crazy. My family puts my husband and I down for not wanting to blow thousands of dollars on a tiny overpriced box where My rent will keep going up out of my control. They tell us we are too boney but we are doing our best to afford food. Can't even afford to buy fast food these days
I'll pay extra so i don't have to step foot into Wallmart
Is that a brag? You think Wholefoods is better? Im curious your moral justification for paying more based on building..
Literally Target's business model. "We're Walmart for people who don't want to be associated with Walmart"
I shop there occasionally to save money, but I absolutely hate the majority of the type of people that shop there. 80% of the people that shop there are tattooed-up, weed smelling, trashy looking, pajama wearing, walking diabetic heart attacks. It's not a moral debate, not everyone wants to be around people that haven't showered in 3 days and didn't even bother putting on some pants and a bra and are still high on whatever it is they had last night.
Walmart isn’t that bad
Recently I’ve seen some nice cars in Walmart parking lots… even people who make good money are struggling
I used to do remodeling 3 years ago, and now I only get repair calls. Home annual spending at home depot was about $80,000 per year. This year I may hit $30,000. That tells my no one is spending money they don't absolutely have to.
Aldi's has great produce sales.
Im 26, last time I remember going to a walmart was when I was a teenager. I cannot afford anything there now as an adult. I am lucky to be working a job where I make more money than my peers. I get my groceries at Aldi and anything I need for the house I get at thrift stores. I dont have rhe best paying job, but I make more than most of my friends. I dont understand how they are surviving when im living paycheck to paycheck. Something has got to change, but it doesnt seem like nobody in government cares...
I want to start too but i don't know how..
Lol, what strategy do you use please?
Exploring new investment opportunities demonstrates your proactive stance towards financial growth during these volatile times. Diversifying your portfolio can play a crucial role in effectiveIy mitigating risks..
Don’t be confuse buying the dip in a bear market, with guaranteed future returns. Just because that company is down 60%+ from ATH does NOT make it a sound long-term investment. Make sure you’re investing in great companies. kudos to Adriana Catherine
Nice to see you talking about her, sHe is really amazing, she has amazing skills, she changed my 0.3 BT C to 1.9 BT C ......
The local Walmart parking lot is a sea of trash, dirty diapers & broken shopping carts. It is also a good place to get your liscence plate stolen or your car broken into. If Walmart was giving away groceries for free I wouldn't go back.
Where do you live
I agree with you. I thought I was to only one who saw how disgusting their parking lot and stores are 😮
Thanks for sharing that.
I travel a lot and stop at a lot of Walmarts. Never seen anything like you are describing.
I refuse to buy Walmart. They hurt my community. I’ll pay more to support smaller owners. Big picture! Don’t buy at Walmart
meh zfg ... worked hard all my life, WM saves me a ton in my retirement
Watching from India and the information you provide is mind boggling. Great research and reporting.
I'm so happy I made productive decisions about my finances that changed forever. I'm a single mother living in Vancouver Canada, bought my first house in October and hoping to retire soon if things keep going smoothly for me.
Everyone needs more than their salary to be financial stable. The best thing to do with your money is to invest it rightly, because money left for saving always end up used with no returns.
Am looking for something to venture into on a short term basis, I really need to create an alternate source of income, what do you think I should be buying?
Cryptocurrency investment, but you will need a professional guide on that.

I am about my bottom line, not theirs.
exactly.
You are correct
I used to work at ChynaMart back in the day & you wouldn't believe what they do to their food, yes it's that disgusting! Produce-Tomatoes are stored in the frozen cooler taken out in a.m, they're mushy & have bugs, they don't rotate the food by dates, WATCH THE DATES!! I could go on & on about that place....awful! 👍 😝
I totally believe you 💯.
Love HEB! When I visit my boys in Lubbock, we always go to HEB for their yummy butter tortillas. Wish we could import one to Utah! Go Texas, show the rest of the US what to do.
I consume a couple of pounds of beef per month by default from not growing up in a household of food. I use it for flavor mostly. However, I spend about 60$ per month on ground beef as part of homemade dog food. Natural Grocers is an organic store that sells a brand of hamburger titled Thousand Hills. It is grass fed from birth to slaughter. I could drive 50 miles to save one $ per pound, but I still don't trust those local ranchers to not feed GMO grain just prior to slaughter. It took much research to reach this knowledge. I appreciate your posting of indisputable information.
I listen to the Ramsey show on my local radio station between two and five every day and a lot of those folks that call in are making 150 thousand or more and they are paycheck to paycheck. So I hear it on the radio as well when you are bringing up middle and upper income household, struggling.
Tired of the "recession is coming!" threat. Recessive periods come along with equivalent market opportunities if you are well informed and equipped, I've seen folks amass wealth in the midst of economic turmoil and even pull it off easily in favorable conditions. Invariably, the collapse is getting somebody somewhere rich
Choose quality stocks and follow them up. If you're not one for such complexities, work with an Advisor to grow your portfolio. You can't go wrong with a sound CFA.
You're right, I and a few Neighbors in Bel Air Area work with an advisor who prefers we Dollar cost averaging across other prospective sectors instead of a lump sum purchase. Following this, my portfolio grew by more than 40% in the 2nd quarter.
I'm intrigued by this. I've searched for portfolio managers online but it's kind of hard to get in touch with one. Okay if I ask you for a suggestion?
I've stuck with ‘’Jessica Lee Horst” for about 9 months now, and her performance has been consistently impressive. She’s quite known in her field, look her up.
Jessica sure knows her onions in this industry, from her intimidating profile which I went through, on her web home page. I started off last year tailoring a colleague's trading strategies but it didn't pan out well. Hopeful that Jessica will attend to my message.
