I built this car for my own entertainment so i don't understand what V8 guys are crying about. The car has ran plenty of 10sec passes with $80 cast pistons and E85 which is about $1.60 per gallon. Okay that's all, thanks for looking. ;)
As an enthusiasth for everything that has engine and moves I have to say that thank you. Car as well as women comes in every shape and size. I love my dailydrive E46 330, I love my vintage bikes from 1930 to 1960 as well, I love my Fiat Strada, I like my little 50ccm from 1960 just for shit an giggles. World would be a boring place if everything is LS swaped. This V8 'murica freedom guys are the worst. And I like those engines too. Good job btw. I know this nights spent in garage working on stuff very well.
You took a $600 p.o.s. and made something that ran 10's. It's clear you put a ton of effort into it, and even though I'm not a Honda fan, you deserve respect for that. As for the haters: Keyboards are not wrenches ... don't like this car? Build your own!
I agree with you, not really into hondas (although I have given my hand at it) but this guy's dedication and commitment is on such a higher level than anyone I know. This is truly how you build a car. It does not matter what you build as long as you build it with passion and patience.
Video is good. Shows how he built his car up over time. I get it, I've been racing for more than 25 years. The comments are great. Probably 75% of these morons have never even driven a car. And your X Box doesn't count. So many keyboard mechanics.
Everytime ive watched this video it still makes me smile and remember why I started building Hondas 21 years ago and still DO, before they were even cool! To believe your destroying emerikan old hot rods with just a SOHC vtec is amazing and NOT a dohc or K series! You are definitely a good engine builder! Great video! Keep up
I agree, I think the reason I enjoyed this video so much is because he used a D16, really Love it when people do something new and it works, I've seen too many B16/B18/K20/K24 Swap videos. Really Loved this one and I'm not even an inherent Honda fan. :D
I'm also just a fan of SOHC engines, don't ask questions, we all have our fetishes and I Love the sound of SOHC 8 Valve(I know the D16 is 16 Valve, Lol) inline 4s, especially on an aggressive cam.
Without a doubt, I feel we should just give props for great performance regardless of where it's from, engineering is engineering. However, we're just excited to see someone go away from the norm and do something less common. Something special. I'm not American myself, so I don't really have a thing for American Domestic cars, but if it's unique, I definitely respect it. I can appreciate it when someone does something new that there isn't exactly a "book" for.
I'm not a Honda/FWD fan,I drive a JDM V5 WRX RA,but you did great with this car, man! Building your own engine, turbocharging it,programming your own map, you're killing it. Those 1/4 mile numbers are no joke, well done!
dude love the build . yes i am a huge. muscle. car truck guy .. but u took something stock and made it yours with money time sweat and few beers . the same way i or anyone else would have done it . keep it up and yeag drag some ass to lol
Back in the day...around 1984 when I was in the Army...a friend called me up and said hey dude I want you to be in my pit crew this coming Summer. I was like "What's a pit crew?" LOL. We joked about that all summer. He took a 351 Windsor and tranny from a Mercury Station Wagon and we dropped it into a 67 Firebird and stripped the car down as much as we legally could for the dirt track. His 1st race he came in 4th place and never after 2nd place the rest of that year. Dude was knocking the socks off of Camaros and late ups Mustang IIs! Talk about fun! All you can drink beer afterwards for free and 1st place got $500 and 2nd took $250 and that was back when the Army was paying us peeons a measly $331.00 a month! So this brings back some cool old memories for me.
Nice video man. Lot of fun to watch. I bet you learned A LOT along the way. After all the work I saw you putting into this I have a whole new respect for tuners! Thanks!
Great build! This is what being an enthusiast is all about! Don't matter if you got a little 4 banger or a big ole motor. As long as you're learning new things about your own car and building it properly.
I'm not a big honda fan, but kudos to you on taking a bucket and making it into something pretty nice. Pretty easy to tell a lot of time and effort went into what you did, and I have nothing but respect for that. Keep up the great work.
Awesome work! I have a lot of respect for people like you that put in the hard work, the time, the effort, and the money to do what they love with the car they love! Congrats on all your successes, and may the future bring many, many more!
great project. I'm a fan of progress, determination and a can do, learning approach. I'm a gear head and a prototype vehicle technician. this right here is awesome stuff...keep it up ✊
what a GREAT video! it's so awesome to see someone learning, and doing their own work. I love how you and the car both grown and improve. those are VERY respectable numbers out of a modest budget car. this really made my day.
Myasa Man A stock and well taken care of 90s civic would be a blessing to own compared to something past 2013. The looks won't be as good but that civic in its stock form is amazingly reliable and nothing to maintain. The car is just so straight forward compared to something new.
+chaz mathews perhaps the point was that the one at the beginning of the vid was pretty dilapidated. Anything can go to pos status if neglected and abused enough.
Thanks for the inspiration. Couple years ago I owned a somewhat built 95 Z28 that got stolen and I lost heart to do another. Friend got me into a 92 Honda civic HB and I got the bug back. Have been doing small things here and there and have been planning/researching doing a Z6 build with a turbo. Don't wanna go FAST like I did before but looking for low 14 even high-mid 13. This video definitely gives me hope on a DOHC lol. Awesome ride
Well then, as an "older" V-8 guy (70 Buick GSX, 70 Monte Carlo SS454, 70-71-72 Chevelle SS454'S) I'm not crying, I appreciate hard work, effort, and dedication. Oh, the "Dart" at 4:40 looks like a 68 or 69 Pontiac LeMans or GTO. Short story, my mom's neighbor asked my mom if it bothered her that I was always in the garage working on my car, my mom said, "no, I always know where my son is, do you always know where your son is what's he doing and who he's with"? The neighbor just walked away. Luckily cars kept me out of trouble. First car was a 68 charcoal grey Buick Riviera. Future rod in garage now is 47 Buick Sedanett 50 Series. Best,
I think your tinkering is cool bud, live seeing new guys tuning. If your ever in Jersey ive git a bkown alchohol nova id like you to check out. Were currently 1232hp and 1140ft/lb and our fastest et to date was 8.33
inspirational video. makes me want to get my shit together and race again. had a '90 5.0 Mustang GT in the 90s when was 18-21 and loved to race. It 2017, a lot of bad choices and 22yrs later. your video just made me realize i might could actually have fun again
M Marks I came here to post the same thing. Definitely wasn't a Dart. It's really impressive what people can do with those Hondas. Too bad they've let the enthusiast's down lately, it seems. Hopefully the new Civics will be plentiful enough on the roads that the next group of kids will have some leftovers to build into amazing machines. This build isn't my cup of tea, but it's a downright legit vehicle. Great job. There was obviously money spent here (far more time and effort, I'm sure), so I'd think it would make sense to spend a little more up front and get a cabin that is a decent place to spend your time. Even if it's just a strip/ track car, I prefer some first world comforts. But fuck it, I'm still jealous. Great car.
Michael Marks 4:37 Not a buick. Rectangular taillights and body color front end give away a GTO. Skylark/GS had shorter, wider taillights (kind of like caddy taillights on thier side) and with a more squared off, chrome bumper front end. Also the buick had a character line along the lower third of the body...the LeMans/GTO was more curvy (like this car here) Thats one helluva Honda you have there.
hard work and stuck with it! I am proud of this young man, don't give give up and keep it up, you deserve every win because of the hard honest work you have put in
a honda that actually is build and not mangled together with a abomination of a body kit, i like it, may i ask what kind of power you put down on this?
did you change the head as well or just the gasket? Amazing setup and 100% sleeper status, which is the exact opposite of the rice ideology of looking and sounding fast instead of actually being fast, and this is one Honda that I bet surprises a lot of STIs, EVOs and vettes especially from a roll... mad props and thanks for the 411!
fwd cars can be fast, no doubt, but not just as well as rwd or awd. For drag racing, fwd is the worse possible scenario. rwd and awd clearly have a traction advantage, all other things being equal, so fwd is a bit of an added challenge.
Offenhauser was famous for building bad ass 4 bangers for use in Indy cars back in the 1950s and then they put turbos on them and were kicking ass over V8s in the 1960s and into the 1970s. If you're interested in 4 bangers check out the Offys and their history it was a truly amazing piece of engine. Kudos to the guy with the Honda, also. Learning as you go and doin' what you can on your own is what hot rodding is all about. If you screw something up, you learn from it and make the needed changes. I built my first car in 1968 and I'm still doing it. Worked in a garage for an old mechanic after class, when in high school, to make money for parts and learned how to bust a knuckle at the same time. I'm all for you young guys and gals keeping hot rodding alive. There's one thing, though. I did my homework after work and graduated. It's damned important.
My man! Many cool shots in this video but my favorite was of your clean operation building the engine, clean towels spread out, pistons and rings laid out nice, clean, organized - i'm a professional, have been for 15 years (since hs), built numerous engines at home in my spare time and its crazy how many messy mechanics there are. I'd work with you anyday
Probably just what he had, so he built it. You run into that sometimes. I think your first car has a lot to do with what you may end up racing new or old, Ford, Honda, Chevy, Toyota, whatever. (mine was a old 78 Camaro, but I've branched out a bit too).
Not a Honda fan (ricers ruin car meets in my area), but as a car guy of 20 years, I respect the time and effort you put into this car and each build. Sorry to hear about the rod bearing. Part of racing and learning. I had an oil pump fail on my own race car this year. 10s are close for you. You're driving the piss out of that thing and making good friends/sponsors. Keep at it!!! Cheers.
I've owned a hand full of JDM cars including a supra and evo. I despise Hondas but I admire the amount of work and R&D you've put into this car. Looks like it's starting to come together for you. keep it up
A true enthusiast. Nice video, I love the progression the car and the owner have made. Don't ever sell a car that you have spent so much time and money with.
I'm a big engine guy myself, but mad respect for your build. Not many would take the time to learn and work with what they have and make it better. That is just plain ridiculous coming out of a 4 cyl 😂
damn .....i find my self watching your videos repeatedly even after I've seen them countless times lol, i still watch then from begining to end, this was chillin garage for me back in the days lol, i preffer these vids than the newer stuff, your single cam was lit bruh, still one of the all time favs lol
Back in the mid seventies I put together a 1968 VW bug that surprised a few people at the street races. Only 1600 cc but launched great. Had these soft Bridgestone radials that really hooked up. Power adders included dual port heads, 2 40P11 Solex carbs, Engle cam and competition header. (no heater boxes)
Personally i just brought my first car as a v8 and was looking to build it into a beast (Much like you have done) and i always thought "Why do all these 4 cylinder hot heads think they're so great" but mate honestly i get it now, it was freaking amazing watching you slowly turn it into your own car. Great video man loved it.
Dude this brings a lot of inspiration for me! Ive had my 94 eg hb sitting around 1month now on jackstands bc when changing the suspension & bushings things got a bit complicated. But what can you expect from an almost 25yrs old car in a cold ass climate (finland). Its my first car and i have probably driven it less than spent time working on it and this video is exactly a good example that you can polish a piece of shit (kinda :D) under a grand car. Hopefully one day i have the money and means to swap that d15b2 to a b or k engine. Have a good day everyone.
Built NOT Bought!! Awesome job man. I can tell you've got a lot of time and energy into making a really cool (and fast) little machine. Tell the haters to "piss off"!!
Well done. I like the way you and the car have evolved. You in your driving skills and the car from a 600 dollar basic car to a competitive race machine.
I had a Buick that would embaress my cousins "350hp" b18 all the time. I lined up beside an old hatchback one day and it definitely had a small single cam d series motor, I could tell by the sound of it. We both started hitting it and I never passed that thing, we were both going 130mph when we let off. He just smiled at me and I gave him a thumbs up. He had that tiny 4 cylinder moving! The car barely weighed anything I imagine.. Besides the driver. Young heavy set Mexican guy who had probably been working on his car like this one for a while. You gotta give respect when it's due, these tiny D-series builds are fun and they a fast too!
Nicely done! Well put together vidyah! You done well for youself, basically the same I did with streetbikes and roadracing. Didnt have cell phone cameras or the yoootubes. Started while in High School and worked 2 jobs to support my habit. Had to learn from anybody I could and paid for everything myself. Good to see young guys come up like this. Nice!!!!
Way to go Chillin! I’ve been telling them same thing for over 40 years. But, most ovem have the disease worse than the COVID19 and it’s varieties! You know as well, the dreaded “LS” fever. Thanks for seeing the realities of “four banger hood”. Great vlog, thanks for posting and sharing.
I built this car for my own entertainment so i don't understand what V8 guys are crying about. The car has ran plenty of 10sec passes with $80 cast pistons and E85 which is about $1.60 per gallon. Okay that's all, thanks for looking. ;)

you're a true legend!!
got a love hondas
You took a $600 p.o.s. and made something that ran 10's. It's clear you put a ton of effort into it, and even though I'm not a Honda fan, you deserve respect for that. As for the haters: Keyboards are not wrenches ... don't like this car? Build your own!
my firebird formula costed 1100 because everything is over priced here where i live.
i'm currently building the motor in it
I'm not a Honda man myself but I respect the time money and effort you put into your build....good shit 👍
Now that is a real car guy mentality
Jesse Marquez same here
Will Lean agreed
I agree with you, not really into hondas (although I have given my hand at it) but this guy's dedication and commitment is on such a higher level than anyone I know. This is truly how you build a car. It does not matter what you build as long as you build it with passion and patience.
Totally agree. Great video!
Good build on ANY car = respect.
Props!
Most people will never even see a 10 second car, let alone drive in one. Great work, I admire your dedication.
No matter what you prefer to drive. You have to respect turning shit into something good. Nicely done.
I'm not much of a honda fan but i have much respect for this guys builds completely.
Miokomata That's called being a true car enthusiast. Gotta give respect whenever it's a proper build.
3rdzodiac A true car enthusiast respect ANY build,Not just what we think proper to us.
Video is good. Shows how he built his car up over time. I get it, I've been racing for more than 25 years. The comments are great. Probably 75% of these morons have never even driven a car. And your X Box doesn't count. So many keyboard mechanics.
Hot Penguin Sex "keyboard mechanics" nice one lmao
Hot Penguin Sex X box doesn't count, sooo
does pc or ps count?
Fuck your stupid.
He was making a joke so you insult him? Wow, you talk about keyboard mechanics yet you are playing the "I'm a tough guy" role...
ALL MIGHT Did you ever think that just maybe I was joking ?
Great work on the build I bet that Honda hurts a lot of peoples feelings.
I just checked on this video again, and after reading a few comments it does seem like it did hurt some feeling.
I don't understand the honda hate. They make some solid platforms.
4 bangers production
It's because they got beat by a smaller displacement engine with FWD, my feelings would be hurt too.
Freddie B you are correct.

you do have to give american stuff props though. i like all cars. a big v8 can make alot of power with 20 lbs of boost too.
So true. Im just glad someone did something different for once.
I'm not a Honda/FWD fan,I drive a JDM V5 WRX RA,but you did great with this car,man!
Building your own engine, turbocharging it,programming your own map, you're killing it.
Those 1/4 mile numbers are no joke, well done!
how to not rice a civic!
***** exactly! Not all hondas are rice and not all ricers drive civics! ANY car can be riced out!
Justin Lankester even a Prius
civic accord prelude are shit
Bandziorek PL have you ever driven one in good condition?
they are slow, and common riced
At least you're a honda that knows what they're doing
dude love the build . yes i am a huge. muscle. car truck guy .. but u took something stock and made it yours with money time sweat and few beers . the same way i or anyone else would have done it . keep it up and yeag drag some ass to lol
Kim n rob same way you and him would do it because everyone else here doesen't even have a license

Absolutely humbling how you have grown with this car. Amazing work!
nothin but props man. Im a chevy v8 guy and i dont see any rice there.
Greg Tank Johnson could you explain what that means? I’m genuinely confused... I’m just getting into cars tbh like I want to turn it into a hobby
Nice video man. Lot of fun to watch. I bet you learned A LOT along the way. After all the work I saw you putting into this I have a whole new respect for tuners! Thanks!
From rice to race
Building up over time and making serious progress deserves respect. Awesome!!!
Well done! Built civics aren't bad cars. I'm not a big honda person but the engine has a lot of flexibility and you took advantage of it. Props!
Great build! This is what being an enthusiast is all about! Don't matter if you got a little 4 banger or a big ole motor. As long as you're learning new things about your own car and building it properly.
"What are you running"
"Just a little 4 cylinder..."
I'm not a big honda fan, but kudos to you on taking a bucket and making it into something pretty nice. Pretty easy to tell a lot of time and effort went into what you did, and I have nothing but respect for that. Keep up the great work.
DAUUM SON, that little car cooks!
and hooks
And books
im here in my garage KNOWLIGE!!!!!! no not funny to old
Very impressive. Shows what you can do with a commitment to continual improvement.
SAVE THE SOHC
Awesome work! I have a lot of respect for people like you that put in the hard work, the time, the effort, and the money to do what they love with the car they love!
Congrats on all your successes, and may the future bring many, many more!
Just a little 4 banger with a huge turbo and super light weight. We all know that formula!
great project. I'm a fan of progress, determination and a can do, learning approach. I'm a gear head and a prototype vehicle technician. this right here is awesome stuff...keep it up ✊
I'm not usually a fan of built civics but this is how it's done right. No rice for miles
what a GREAT video! it's so awesome to see someone learning, and doing their own work. I love how you and the car both grown and improve. those are VERY respectable numbers out of a modest budget car. this really made my day.
Turning an average piece of shit Honda into something more badass. Respect.
+Myasa Man How about just an average Honda? I wouldn't call one of the most reliable cars on the road, a piece of shit..
+chaz mathews lol igt I'm talking about the Honda in the video, the one in the video isn't past 2013

First car was a 68 charcoal grey Buick Riviera. Future rod in garage now is 47 Buick Sedanett 50 Series. Best,
Who doesn't love any properly built fast car?
I love to see younger giys like you work hard for something they want so bad ,,,good job ,man my hats off to you the car came along way ,,keep rollin
Just what I needed to get back in the garage. You got any good tips for street tuning or links?
This is backyard racing and building at it's finest!!!! Way to go!!!!! Love It!!!
I think your tinkering is cool bud, live seeing new guys tuning. If your ever in Jersey ive git a bkown alchohol nova id like you to check out. Were currently 1232hp and 1140ft/lb and our fastest et to date was 8.33

Definitely a cool project, thanks for sharing it with the world. Be safe out there.
Bro from car guy to car from IL. KEEP IT UP Good work :)
men.. thats what i call dedication.. loving this build so much, keep working and racing bro.. bless
Respecting the D series.
This is the first of these build videos I solidly enjoyed.
video is nice, but background music is really annoying
See this video is 3 years old but still cool to see the Evolution of a project car and the knowledge and skill learned to make it faster, very cool
to think all that was done on a d series.. shit!!! my hat off to u sir..
inspirational video. makes me want to get my shit together and race again. had a '90 5.0 Mustang GT in the 90s when was 18-21 and loved to race. It 2017, a lot of bad choices and 22yrs later. your video just made me realize i might could actually have fun again
That was a Buick btw...not a Dodge Dart.
looked like a GTO to me

a honda that actually is build and not mangled together with a abomination of a body kit, i like it, may i ask what kind of power you put down on this?
I'd say at least 450-500
No Way Is It 450 To 500hp. If it was it would be trapping higher than 135 I'll bet my life. A simple 330 whp can run these numbers
With a z6 fully built and the giant turbo he’s hitting 400 easy.
Great job with the progress on this car ! Watching this brought back so many memories of my old civics.
BTW How much PSI were you pushing and on what compression? Thanks.
20psi and vitara + P2p0 rods about 8:6.1 CR
did you change the head as well or just the gasket? Worked in a garage for an old mechanic after class, when in high school, to make money for parts and learned how to bust a knuckle at the same time. I'm all for you young guys and gals keeping hot rodding alive. There's one thing, though. I did my homework after work and graduated. It's damned important.
I see a speedquest sticker are you from Illinois?
Jason Soto Sure am! Lake County area speedquest is my good friend
+Chillin Racing I have been doing the same to my accord just installed twin Garrett MGT2256S Off my buddys n63.
Waukegaaaan
Awesome man, any reason you used a SOHC and not a DOHC engine? Just curious
i would love to know that too but it produced nice horse power
it sure did.
Probably just what he had, so he built it. You run into that sometimes. I think your first car has a lot to do with what you may end up racing new or old, Ford, Honda, Chevy, Toyota, whatever. (mine was a old 78 Camaro, but I've branched out a bit too).
yeah ive come to that conclusion too
Hells Gate from stories i hear sohc handle more boost ..dohc are mostly high reving engine made for n/a tune..
No matter what car you drive, all the respects goes to the driver that builds it.
was the camaro you burned a stock one?
Not sure it sounded like it had cams
definately not a stock camaro sounds like heads cam thats a high 11s car with a good driver this honda slaying em
Probably an exhaust you can hear the cam lope from the maro before he stages
it was a v6.
claws doesn't matter even an SS with tons of bolt ons wort beat the honda
I'm a V8 guy myself, but that things got some balls, nice man.
but can you make my shit mustang fast
go down hill
with a tailwind
Tony Becerra burn it, then it will go fast..... to the scrap heap lol
Nah I need a jet turbine
look for the largest crowd around town, then it will go fast
Not a Honda fan (ricers ruin car meets in my area), but as a car guy of 20 years, I respect the time and effort you put into this car and each build. Sorry to hear about the rod bearing. Part of racing and learning. I had an oil pump fail on my own race car this year. 10s are close for you. You're driving the piss out of that thing and making good friends/sponsors. Keep at it!!! Cheers.
still sounds like a can of rice.
hemified64 still a 10 second 4 cylinder
Sounds like a nice engine to me you clearly dont get what a rice can sounds like. Plus its probably faster than your car
Kai 707 amen, tuners are different but people see import and scream rice
hemified64 Are you insecure much?
hemified64 jealous your rice bucket doesn't pull like this civic?
You are an innovator and a genius. You dont need an auto tech degree you already have the engineering skills. RACE ON!
Awesome to see that car evolve into what it is today. Keep up the good work man.
This is the most inspirational video i have ever seen in my life. Love your car man.
that single jingle is killn the game for real!
Good job really liked how you showed your progression over the years.
You inspire me to get a project I can work on and race as the years progress. Good work!
That was legendary. Had a D16 Civic hatch and this inspired me!
Car buddies (especially with the same car) a 24 pack and some go fast parts needing installed is a great time! God I miss those days!
Very good work!
You are increasing your speed & knowledge and looks like having a good time doing it.
I love fast cars, don't give a crap what it is. Gotta respect somebody willing to take the time to make horsepower in anything!
a fast car is a fast car, even if its a tuned Prius
damn .....i find my self watching your videos repeatedly even after I've seen them countless times lol, i still watch then from begining to end, this was chillin garage for me back in the days lol, i preffer these vids than the newer stuff, your single cam was lit bruh, still one of the all time favs lol
Nice work! I respect the time and effort put into this project
fantastic build well done so much effort and hard work paid off, loved this video wish i had your enthusiasm to build my ek,thanks for sharing...
Wow, nice build. Built not bought, respect.
The little Honda that could!
Impressive little thing! You'll definitely be seeing 10's!
I think it is an awesome project, started off with a banger done most of the work your shelf it seems, ended with a crazed turbo looker. Good job.
Awsome video detailing the evolution of how a tuned civic should be. Props! +1
Dude you inspire all car modders keep doing what you are doing!
Another Legend has been created. This is why I like Honda. Nice work man!
Built NOT Bought!! Awesome job man. I can tell you've got a lot of time and energy into making a really cool (and fast) little machine. Tell the haters to "piss off"!!
Not a foreign car fan, but what you have done is quite an accomplishment. Good job!
very neat love the way you put the motor together.. must be awesome to see your hard work pay off.. keep it up.. keep safe
You gotta give respect when it's due, these tiny D-series builds are fun and they a fast too!
don't worry about what others wish to lay on you. You are a complete human being who has learn and persevere. Screw everybody else
From trashed to treasured. Great build!
I'm an American muscle guy but I respect this. it is actually a quality build and not some Honda weedeater build. props.
