Lovely video. Totally agree with you about what a slow life is. It can be a full life, but the pace is the pace we choose, especially the pace within ourselves. The things we do in the slow life are intentional and mindful and very, very satisfying. 🌿

Here in Australia it is Autumn now. Spring is my favourite time in my garden and you are lucky to be enjoying that wonderful season. Also, I noted one of your comments that we shouldn’t keep things for “special occasions”, but use them. I’m 73 and my husband is 83, so I swapped our every day dinnerware and cutlery for the beautiful Villeroy and Boch plates and the cutlery that my late parents brought back for me from Germany years ago. Every day and every meal are special occasions! Thanks for reminding me of that.
The best life is doing what you want, where you want to do it, with the people you want around you. You’re living the dream. Thank you for the reminder and the inspiration.
My back is tired today from much less gardening than you did. You are making your garden beautiful. I think I was born into a different culture, I would be working beside you. Love your videos.
Here is how small of a world we live in. I have the exact same cutting board you have! Here’s how large of a world we have. I can’t walk from my house to yours. Loved this episode. It felt of spring. Renew the van, renew the table, renew the garden and our faith in a simpler life. The shot of you with the table showing the seed starter kits from the beginning of the episode was a great tie in. Not sure if it was intentional, but if so, very creative storytelling!
I am Indian living in Kolkata. This is a wonderful video. I had a chance to stay 3 nights in French countryside in 1990. Countryside is that place, where people come leaving behind the hustle bustle, nightlife, parties and shopping of cities to enjoy the slow life amidst natural beauty! It gives enormous peace and freedom in life. Maybe the life you've always wanted is burried under everything you own. My 3 nights sleep in the French countryside was indescribable. I thank you very much for posting this video.
@@PascalDupont-ft7hd After 34 years my life in Kolkata is more meaningful as at present I am a writer instead of engineer. Many thanks for your communication. Stay blessed.
Oh, my goodness Marloes! The Burgundy countryside is so lovely and your cinematography skills showcase it so well. I really enjoy these “ day-in-the-life” videos. It is fun to watch you cook (that carrot cake looks incredible!) and do projects around your farmhouse and explore the area around it. I also love how Tigrette keeps you company. Such a sweet kitty! Thank you for sharing your little piece of heaven with us! ❤
Seeing you transplant wildflowers reminds me of our family story where in the 1890's Uncle George and Aunt Clara built a new brick house . He was working away from home for weeks on end and so Aunt Clara neatened up around the foundation and gathered up a whole lot of this lovely plant she had seen near the woods and promptly replanted it all along the outside of the house . When Uncle George got home he found Aunt Clara bedridden , being tended by her sisters . Those lovely plants turned out to be Poison Ivy and she was covered head to toe in the rash it causes . In those days it was very serious . Poor uncle George now had to get rid of it and ended up with the blistering rash too ! We were taught very early on what it looked like and we steered clear of it !! Life lessons.......I can almost smell those lilacs mmmm...you are so kind to help the neighbors , kindness is what ties us together ,,,we need more kindness !! cheers Cherryl from Canada
Oh boy! I always check with my plant app to see if it’s poisonous when I don’t have gloves with me and also if it is safe to pick without hurting the plant and it’s ability to recover and grow back. But in those days they didn’t have that info so easily available! Fortunately we don’t have poison ivy here in Europe but there are still plants you’d better leave alone.

You absolutely do live in paradise Marloes, much of it from your making. Every picture you show us could be a painting. I love the way you confidently and lovingly do things around the home. I am now 71 and unable to walk or do much else, but watching your peaceful fulfilling life does give me joy and I almost feel like I’m there too. When my son asks what I did today I tell him I’ve been in France traveling around Burgundy today. And it was glorious. I’m telling you this not for pity but I think you should know how much you are appreciated. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much. This was lovely. Your walk back home was so peaceful and a part of a slow life. You could have picked an entire bouquet of flowers along the side of the road. Your table came out great! Your lovely garden was a lot of work but it will be so pretty. In the fall maybe take the seed heads off of the flowers you see on your walks and sprinkle them in the garden. It was so kind of you to bring your neighbors the delicious lunch. What a difference this simple act of kindness will make in their lives. Thank you for sharing the beauty of the French countryside in spring. 🌿🌷I think I shall watch it again!

Hi Marloes, Spring is so lovely in Burgundy. We spent a lovely few days wondering slowly around the region last week and attended a concert in Macon. Thx for introducing us all to La Baronne du Broc in Autun which we visited. We have a lovely stay and meals at Domain de Rymska, highly recommended! BW Maria et Rowan. PS. Your table came up a treat!
Ahhh spring.... can't wait to see the peonies in bloom! Btw you planted that Rhododendron too close to the wall, you should have planted it in a corner about a meter from the walls... it will get very big!
Your garden is looking lovely and natural with a hint of wild abundance. Have you thought about some very large terracotta pots for your perennials which would be easy to manage. Great to see Tigret enjoying the Spring garden. ❤🐈🐾😊
Hi, Thanks for sharing such a beautiful video of the French countryside. I am from Mumbai India. One thing I was wondering while watching this video, it is difficult for me, to live in such a calm and peaceful environment. Because our whole life we have lived in a crowd. You are lucky 👏🤝
Very nice video, I like how Tigret just hangs out on the gravel stretching & getting her natural Vitamin D directly from the sun. I love that one sheep keeping an eye on you while the others didn't notice you were there, or that cow who seemed to have a bit of trouble standing up but going over to see what you were doing. That one house you & your friend went to take a look at sure did appear to need a whole lot of work, I think you really need to go visit with a friend who really knows about these types of old homes in order to make an intelligent decision otherwise it could end up costing you a fortune to fix up. The area you are going to pretty up cause it's next to the entrance to the pool, could use some color & texture, you should take a look at Rhododendrons and/or Hydrangeas, so many beautiful colors to choose from. Where I live, here in the Northeast of the USA, we have some pretty cold winters & some miserable Florida type weather in the summer, & these plants still flourish every season! I was wondering what happened to the kitty which seemed lost out in the fields? Did you decide not find out if he belonged to a neighbor? I never get bored of your walks in this peaceful place and of looking around at the different villages & homes.
Yes that house is not the one they’re looking at. And after 5 years of renovations and working with architects I am starting to get a good feel for what things cost and what it takes to renovate a French old house (and the mistakes you should avoid). My friends are aware of that and excited about taking on such a project. I’m excited for them!
The kitty in the field, the black one, is being fed by my neighbors. We have only seen it very occasionally and it doesn’t seem to come get the food a lot. It’s very scared but seems to thrive nonetheless fortunately!
This is the first of your videos I have seen. I look forward to watching more of them. What an absolutely beautiful place! The countryside, all the wildflowers, and your tortoiseshell kitty! Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful early spring in your burgundy region! I didn’t realize you could plant flowers like that, and they’ll come back next year. I’ll have to give that a try. I can’t wait to see your peonies in bloom! I agree with you about what a slow life is. Thank you for sharing, and I loved seeing the sheep of course!🐑
WOW What a lush green countryside for only being April!! ❤ This was a most enjoyable video. Thank you for sharing your home, recipe and gardening tips. The area where you live is so beautiful. Cheers from Canada .❤

Beautiful property, so lovely! It is spring here too in my part of the world (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada), things are turning more green, flowers are starting to bloom, and our different trees (maple, oak and birch - to mention just a few) are starting to produce leaves, slowly but surely! How thoughtful to help your friends and provide a lovely meal. I’m sure they are so grateful! Looking forward to your future videos.
I enjoyed the lovely walk and the flowers you picked to plant. The garden looks very nice. Thank you for sharing some of the things you do day to day. Peaceful, beautiful countryside. ❤
Bonjour, I think most people sitting behind a computer would trade that for yours in a heartbeat. I love your life you created, and you are giving your guests a beautiful piece of that life. Thank you for sharing your piece of the world with us. Just stunning.
Yes exactly! That is why I left my office job, taking all the risks that included and started my business which 10 years later allowed us to move here and live like this. It is truly a dream come true and I feel so blessed we get to live this life and have our boys grow up like this ❤️

Walking back from the garage, you could be walking down one of our lanes in West Devon, England! It looks just the same, so green and lush. I live alone with my rescue greyhound Madge, and choose to be reclusive, due to my sever anxiety about going out and about. I am very lucky, as I am surrounded by farming land with sheep in, and nature. I often see the deer, and the buzzards out on my walks. My happiest time is being out in nature, and by water especially, as I find the sound of running water so soothing for the soul. Blessings from Jilly & Madge. xxx
Thank you Marloes. Loved everything in this video and could almost smell the lilacs. Here in New Hampshire, USA it is our state flower and we have to wait until May for it to bloom. Always a joy to see Tigrette😻
A package of wildflowers seeds could be used instead of grass. No mowing and the seeds would have no competition from grass so you would have a head start.
Your life is peaceful and beautiful. The green meadows, the churches, the sheep make my heart peaceful. Tables under warm sunshine, glass greenhouses also make me imagine. The way you cook is also warm. Good luck to you and your family. Greetings from Korea.
Lovely and inspiring video, my wife and I are thinking of retiring in Europe, we've been looking at Italy, Portugal and Spain but ever since I came across your channel we've been inspired more to maybe living in the French country side and really enjoying a slow, quite and meaningful life.
Thank you for a beautiful peak into Spring in your area. Have you ever considered doing a review of your Lacanche cooker ? Especially the oven part, what size baking sheets it can accommodate, what accessories it comes with and what you think of the oven compared to a modern regular built-in oven. It seems impossible to find Europe-based reviews for Lacache cookers. If I am not mistaken you have the Cormatin model with the largest oven they have in that line. Did you have difficulties finding a shop to buy it from in France ? Thanks
I could share SO much about it as I love it! But I am afraid such a video would feel like an ad to people? Although I could go a separate video about it, thanks for the idea! We’re getting our slightly bigger one for our new kitchen in in a few weeks!
@@FrenchCountryLife There are a number of US-based reviews but nothing in France...which is ironic for a French appliance! Of course, only you can decide what is right for your channel. I do not think it would feel like an Ad. On the contrary, a lot of people would find an unbiased review helpful for an item that is a substantial investment and not something you easily see for yourself at Darty or the likes. In France, it is difficult to find people who have used this oven and can compare it with European built-in ovens which seem to have a lot more options. Thanks a lot for your videos, they are very peaceful both aesthetically and in their rhythm.
Lovely video. Yes, the slow life is full but contented ,unhurried, not caught up in others' agendas. Your home and surrounds are delightful. Thank you.💐

I love your life you created, and you are giving your guests a beautiful piece of that life. Thank you for sharing your piece of the world with us. Just stunning.
Yes exactly! That is why I left my office job, taking all the risks that included and started my business which 10 years later allowed us to move here and live like this. It is truly a dream come true and I feel so blessed we get to live this life and have our boys grow up like this ❤️
Absolutely LOVED everything about this video!!! Sublime 💗

Everything is beautiful in Europe. Been there a year back.
Work and home life is the same from what I observed. I share the same thoughts so I'm connected. I love gardening. Cooking. Cleaning etc. Waiting for your flowers to bloom....❤
The flowers in your garden are gorgeous.
beautiful place you have there really enjoyed this video

Leuk ik kwam je heeel toevallig op UA-cam tegen ik woon ook in Frankrijk sinds een aantal jaren - Bourgondië is een rustige relaxte streek
Leuke bedoening heb je - enjoy 💪👍👌👏🌷

Beautiful❣️I enjoy resting on the Sabbath, that’s my slow day of the week❣️🥰💕🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
Thank you for sharing your precious life!
My pleasure!
Blessings from Jilly & Madge. xxx
Very enjoyed watching this video. Thanks!
Thanks! Happy to hear that!
Felicidades su hogar se ubica en un lugar paradisiaco❤❤
Thank you Marloes. Loved everything in this video and could almost smell the lilacs. Here in New Hampshire, USA it is our state flower and we have to wait until May for it to bloom. Always a joy to see Tigrette😻
A package of wildflowers seeds could be used instead of grass. No mowing and the seeds would have no competition from grass so you would have a head start.
Thanks! Yes that would be an idea although the flowers grow high and we need to keep that area clear as it has the access to city water.
Thank you very much for your enjoyable video.Stay Well.
Thank you!
Soo beautiful French villages❤️
Your life is peaceful and beautiful. The green meadows, the churches, the sheep make my heart peaceful. Tables under warm sunshine, glass greenhouses also make me imagine. The way you cook is also warm. Good luck to you and your family. Greetings from Korea.
Thank you!
nice job, wonderful slow life
😊
Beautiful video - thanks for sharing!
My pleasure!
Lovely and inspiring video, my wife and I are thinking of retiring in Europe, we've been looking at Italy, Portugal and Spain but ever since I came across your channel we've been inspired more to maybe living in the French country side and really enjoying a slow, quite and meaningful life.
What an exciting project!
What a full of colors. Natures .heal .
I love the life in this place ❤
Phong cảnh đẹp tuyệt vời. Cuộc sống rất thanh bình!❤🎉
