I'm 71 and have been clipping pictures, words and 'scraps' from magazines for years and sorting them into files and envelopes. I really was never sure what to do with them. 😂 I found your your channel this morning, it's like the ah-ha moment in "Close Encounters..." I'll be getting a glue stick and book today !!
oh my gosh i LOVE this so much! i hope you are enjoying gluebooking! there are some very talented people gluebooking on you tube (not me)so there is a lot of inspiration! enjoy and thanks for watching!
I'm happy for you that you now have a purpose for all your images; I personally would like to see pages from your Glue Book 😍 I'm looking forward to my very own first Glue Book ❤❤❤ it's in the works; I've cut out quite a bit of images and I have two Books that I will be working on. Have fun 🤗 and wish me luck 🤞❤😄
My friend you are doing great. Glue Books serve the purpose of practice, decision making and battling perfectionism. Every time we let ourselves create without judgement we carry that over into our lives. It's also incredible practice for form and composition. It lets us find out what we like and don't like and our brains remember that when we go to other work.
Gluebooks are a playground for me. I have probably a dozen themed ones in various states of completion. They don't have to have a purpose, I don't have to overthink them, they are just for fun.
Hi, you are the first person I have come across in these glue book videos that totally resonates with me when it comes to glueing pics. I too want to just glue pictures that I love into my books and have them themed eg. Like beach, etc. I don’t like doing layers that cover up my beloved pictures so I will fill small spaces with pattern strips from magazines with the same colour or topic theme. I also have a A4 folder with full size images. Happy sorting and gluing. Thanks for sharing your video.
I'm a newbie to paper crafting; i started my very first "junk Journal" this past 2024 and i now have 2 which are just about done and I'm now working on making a "Glue Book" and what I want for my glue book is to be able to go through it once it's done and enjoy looking at whatever i chose to glue down, i also would like for my daughter to one day look through it and enjoy it as well 😊❤
I sat on the couch and watched your whole video 😂 You have inspired me to go do a gluebook page!! But for that, I have to get off the couch…hmmm…gluebook, couch, gluebook, couch 🤷♀️ If I get a video out soon, you’ll know which I chose 🤣
Energy Efficient - love that! I love my glue book because when quilting or knitting I mostly have to be precise and follow the pattern. I probably love gathering the images the most because I find it really relaxing. Limited decision making required. So many fun discoveries. I’m learning to embrace working on whatever pages hold my interest and then moving on when I’m not enjoying it. Some days I’m very decisive and in finish mode. Others I just browse and sort. The best thing is no rules and they are images that make me feel happy. No one may ever see it but me!
Live that! Yes I do enjoy the looking and finding for sure … I continue to struggle with the glue pages themselves maybe because I don’t know the point but I’ll keep trying 😂 and yes quilting and knitting are too precise for me 😂thanks for watching !
Making a gluebook doesn't always "work" for everyone. Just don't overthink it. I started off by ripping up small pieces of magazine (size of about a quarter) and making a mosaic just of color on my entire page. This helps to just simplify it at first. There's no wrong way of doing it. ❤❤❤
Oh I so understand your struggle with your glue book! I recently started my first one and was so aggravated when I couldn’t find images that completed pages I’d started. I devised a way of seeing my images that I hope will stand the test of time. I got spiral bound sketchbooks in larger sizes (e.g., 12 x 12 and 14 x 17) and with lots of pages and ran stripes of Tack-It Over And Over horizontally across the two pages when it was Laing flat. After that had cured and turned clear, I pressed my magazine images on it, leaving as little Tack It exposed as possible, because they would make the pages want to stick together. After I covered the two pages, I turned to the next pages and repeated the process. While waiting for the Tack It to cure was a bit frustrating, over the last couple of weeks I have ended up with books I can page thru to see all my images. Game changer!!! I don’t know how well this will work over time but right now it is so much fun to search for the image I need just by turning the pages of a large sketchbook, rather than trying to look at them one by one. I’ve already ordered more Tack It. In case anyone tries this, I’d love to know what you think. I love it!!!
Oh that sounds brilliant! Yes that’s much like my “stamp book” I was gifted and the ability to look at images and flip through a book is delightful! Keep me posted ! Yes I may try it also!
@@ajsinspiredlife665 oh I’m glad you liked the idea! It’s really fun to see all my images as I flip through the books. I’m hoping it works long term. My concerns are 1) the images don’t become too stuck on over time and as the books get filled up and are heavier and also stacked one atop the other and 2) the Tack It continues to be sticky enough. The most frustrating part is leaving the sketchbooks open while the Tack It cures enough for me to put the next batch of images on. I usually put the Tack It on at night so it can cure and then add images the next morning so that I can close the books and also leaf through them all day as needed. If you try it, I would love to know how it goes and if you ever want to, feel free to share it on your channel, keeping in mind that I’ve only been doing it for about a month so don’t know yet how it will work going forward. So far I love it so much!😀 Thanks for your terrific videos. Lisa
I think the hard part is wanting to love the page when I come back and look at it later. That requires finding the images that really work. I am trying to cull at least a few images every day and trim them, then put them in the sketchbooks so they are ready to use. Anything that slows me down feels frustrating so if I can easily see my images and they are already trimmed, I find the process much more enjoyable.
Oh yes absolutely… I get that! That’s why I have stuff around me and try not to get up 😂 but I can also be overwhelmed with too many choices so need to pull a few I know will work 🤗
What your doing works and the results are great. Looking through our many folders of images reminds us what we have and where we have a perfect spot to use them 😀
My glue book is like yours. I start pages and just go on to another page and eventually it will be complete. But I still just puttering ( my favorite work) in the glue book
I would agree your gluebook is like an enmasse gluebook and thats ok. I enjoy working in my color gluebook. I might do an enmasse gluebook just not sure when though. Great gluebook session as always!
I just heard of a glue book. Been watching lots of videos. So far I'm still not sure of what is going on with a glue book. Plus, it's hard to find used magazines. Doctors office used to have them. Not anymore. I gave mine away when I moved from a larger home into a small apartment. I got tired of moving them. Boy, were they heavy. Now I could use them. I want to watch to see how you overcome this new art project. Good luck.
thanks so much ... glue booking is a bit of a challenge for me but i dive back into it every so often :) yes magazines are harder to come by these days... have you tried the thrift store or library? thanks for watching!
Oh honey I feel you 1000th percent ( energy efficiency) beautiful way to put it , I mean I was like yeah she def like me she does give a flying fudge.. anyways ur book is beautiful please I hope u get better and out of ur rut. I mean I should speak to myself right but just know u got a new subby
You can layer pictures to cover up smaller spaces. Consider covering up some of the pictures or parts of them. You could also adding other cuts of pictures that don't go with the theme to make a funny picture or add stickers to some of the blank spaces
I cannot relax, even if I do relaxing things, that work for other people. I am struggling with anxiety disorder, it wears me out (physically and psychically), constantly worrying about the smallest things. Sometimes I don't do anything all day. But making art makes me feel a bit better of myself. I also copy the images I want to use, to ease my anxiety, knowing I can do it again.
If friend sorry but glad you have awareness and are willing to talk about it . Anxiety is no joke . Please know there is support available on lots of levels and different ways to help lesson the impact . I appreciate you watching and glad crafting can bring you some relief 🤗
I've been watching a lot of glue booking videos & collecting a lot of stuff. Haven't made anything yet. I can't wrap my brain around it. I'm certainly not organized, but just can't get all this. It seems so random. I love the finished books. Have you watched Relax, Cut Glue videos? She is really good. TFS
Ha ha yes Nicole is the master for sure … but I’m learning to find my own style which helps me not feel as pressured to be perfect … because im a Mess for sure !
I really like your gluebooking videos😍 hihi wish you did them more often than every 6 months..😋 what helps me when I'm struggling ( because I feel like I've finally got the hang of it now😅) is to pick maybe 20 or 30 pictures beforehand and just make them work! Also i have "weird ' spots that are difficult to fill, but for those spots I also use fussycuts or a strip of color or a texture picture...
Ha ha … noted friend thanks ! I will try to do them more often ;) that’s probably the only way I can get more comfortable with them anyways 😂 and I love the idea of choosing the images . That may work for me since I love the challenge aspect of things … thanks !
I am gluebooking. Sort of...I travel from "Color gluebooks" to "Alpha" and to randomness- to enmasse...-as the spirit moves me... family members ask me--what do you do with them? And I have no answer other than I find it relaxing...does there have to be an end function after all?? Then there is Junque Journal partial gluebooks too. I am all over the place lately thanks for sharing your process...hugs, Julierose🥰
I just finished a gluebook. No rhyme or reason to it. It's made up of images that I liked from old magazines. Now I'm starting another one, same concept.
43:13 In that tall spot....why not add the fisherman as the skinny piece, and a bit of the trees above him to include in that other rectangle. Do you add 'generic' parts? Like that spot on the next page, could you add some of the field behind the marmot[?] ?? annnnnd you just tossed out the extra piece I was talking about....hahahaha
omg.. Im dying... thanks so much for watching and your feedback! yes this is a great example or when i would like to be live creating with others so we can hear others ideas! I always find it interesting that we all create differently and pull different items. have a great day!
Hahaha! Energy Efficient instead of Lazy.... I am TOTALLY stealing that. Girl... isn't it funny how our house seems SO big when we don't want to walk to get something in the other room. Lordamercy! I really haven't gone back to my gluebook in a LONG time. Will I ever? Who knows. I like the way you do yours. It makes logical sense. However, does it need to make sense? hahah. I guess that is where the struggle is. I think I really just like doing my journals and mixed media art. Only time will tell I suppose. lol. Thanks for bringing us along! Love and hugs!
Ha ha … not sure this thing makes sense but I continually am drawn to keep trying it and have no idea the purpose so … I guess it’s just to calm me ( which obviously doesn’t work sometimes)😂🙌 and yea I try to stay seated once I begin because I can become very distracted and wind up in the kitchen watering plants when I just went up for coffee 😂🤦♀️
I've been doing glue books for about a year and the ones I first saw here more ..chaotic ...than some of the ones I'm seeing lately. I've found that having lots of square or rectangle images just doesn't work for me...even as a first layer, it's just not interesting to me. I like fitting shapes together and seeing how colors and patterns and things play together. And a lot of times when I first glue stuff down I'll only use glue on the middle parts so that I can tuck images under the edges. I've done some kind of themed glue books I did a bird one and then I also have one and started another..that is just patterns and colors, I have very few identifiable objects and it's totally about how the shapes, colors, and patterns fit together. I've tried different styles and making.. I don't know the right word..but more composed images (like Nicole on Relax Cut Glue does ) that make an image or kind of tell a story but that just isn't my style . And sometimes I just like a full page image a lot and just glue it in and don't make any changes. For me the less structured glue booking is the more fun it is
love your videos! I feel like youre getting overwhelmed with too many options, when i start to panic i like to close my eges and pick something random and just figure out where that one thing belongs. I also like to flip through to a random page and figure out one thing that can go on that page and go from there. it helps to just lay down a bunch of backgrounds and then i can focus on what goes on top of those backgrounds then im not just staring at a blank page with question marks popping up over my head lol
I'm 71 and have been clipping pictures, words and 'scraps' from magazines for years and sorting them into files and envelopes. I really was never sure what to do with them.

Aww thanks for the reframe and encouragement… I love the idea but get stuck in the perfectionism for sure !
Gluebooks are a playground for me. I have probably a dozen themed ones in various states of completion. They don't have to have a purpose, I don't have to overthink them, they are just for fun.
Thanks … yes that is a good plan😭I wish my brain was more relaxed about it … but I’ll keep trying it as the mood hits me
When you start overthinking everything, it stops being fun and relaxing and starts to become stressful and a chore.
Yep for sure 👍

U earned a new crafty gluebooking journaling friend! This was fun to watch!❤❤love your pages!

You have such beautiful images in your book and so many ready to add. And just going thru all your images made you happy.
Yes funny but it does ! I love to look through my supplies … now the goal is to use them 😂🤦♀️
