Please do not apologize for the length of your videos! I do not turn, but I do “stuff” and create “stuff” in very different media. I very much appreciate your work and enjoy watching the process. Your creations are beautiful to behold.
Gimme the little bowl. I want it. NOW! Love the big one---but the little one is really special. Jim Sprague, you are amazing. And, yes, as others say down below, it's remarkable to watch you solve problems.
Well, Jim, these bowls definitely put you through the wringer, but I'm glad you didn't quit on them. They are beautifully stunning! The burl looks like big flower blossoms and the purple is just gorgeous! I hope your customer was as thrilled with them as I am!
Jim, I share your pain and admire your patience. My Son married a French girl and, for obvious reasons, we haven’t seen them for two years. But the French have a saying when they learn something new: tonight I go to bed less stupid. Think on that and smile each time something doesn’t go according to plan. And anyone would be in love with your work. All the best to yourself and your family for Christmas 🌞
Thanks Jim for sharing another of your beautiful creations. Love the color separation, it looks "Cosmic" with the light shining through in your closing pictures.
I don’t even woodturn ( but really want to start .) but Your show is one of the best shows on UA-cam. Love it .. . You should make some resin and wood guitar bodies !! They’d look awesome .
Fantastic piece Jim. Love watching craftsmen, and women, work through problems and come out the other side. The small bowl reminds me of an aerial picture of the Gulf of Arabia....mountains, islands and deep blue sea.
Purple is my 2nd favorite color so you had me as Designer Epoxy! Beautiful bowl. The boxelder is gorgeous by itself, yet when you put it all together it is a true masterpiece! Great job!
I found your channel a few days ago, purely by chance, and I've been glued to it ever since! Every thumbnail has me absolutely intrigued and amazed at the beauty. Such beautiful work, and so much heart, sweat&tears, love, effort, skill, and a truly artistic eye. Never undervalue your work. It's amazing! And as we can see proven, labour-intensive!
I absolutely enjoy watching the process you go through, even in the trials that you face during the journey. Your heart and your passion lead you to produce the very best product you possibly can, and that is incredibly admirable. I can only imagine the amount of work you put into each project, but with each one finished it shows your dedication. I loved this bowl!
So glad your client loved the outcome! I suspect if they hadn't, you'd have had your pick of customers from your viewers. 😊 Thanks again for sharing your process in it's entirety, good and bad. And that crystal purple looks super great! Another beautiful bowl set.
Great video instruction. Anyone who has turned for awhile comes to realize that there is a lot of thinking and problem solving involved. Things happen. Thanks for walking us through your problem solving thought process. The bowls are beautiful. The small bowl reminds me of a satellite view of a strange world. mystically marvelous.
Another gorgeous bowl set Jim. I think I like the little bowl better than the big one. When you were showing the bowls at the end I thought I saw a little critter or a fish in one of the small, free-floating pieces of burl. Did you see it too? I continue to be impressed by the positivity and sense of humor you exhibit when you encounter difficulties. I wish you were closer. I’m pretty sure I’d enjoy sitting down and having a beer with you.
Jim: after all the frustration they still turned out very nice. The colours are vivid and the burl pieces look good. It would have been nice to turn the little one but as you said there would have been nothing left to see. I was hoping you would have spent more time wailing on the bucket but , well you found another way. "Maybe Santa will drop off that propane furnace for you next week." Wouldn't that be a surprise for you. Stay safe and keep smiling! Take care.
why i enjoy your videos is you show your errors abd how to fix them is always a great learning experiance watching and learning and this a awesome bowl or should you say 2 great lesson keep doing it thanks
Every day is a school day ......... However - when that school day stretches into two or three days that really does challenge the patience. I am sure I would have taken a mallet to it. At the end of the day though, that is one cracking bowl (no pun intended) and I am sure the customer is going to be more than delighted. As for the wee bowl ...... that is just out of this world. Have a great Christmas,
Lovely result despite the nemesis of the thermal crack. I realise that it's not open to a vote, but if it was, I would definitely vote for the longer videos without hesitation. I've not seen anyone who provides as much entertainment and information as you. I would also like to take the opportunity to wish you and your family a very happy Christmas, and a fantastic and prosperous new year!
Just caught your video for the first time. I am not a turner, but do admire the work. These bowls are gorgeous. The purple pearl resin is stunning. I would take the small one. Beautiful work.
Another MASTE PIECE Jim I would even fly to Canada to pick up those two pieces, I will remember these before when I can fly there. I will make sure to order it them well in advance . Brilliant work
I love your work Jim. Incredibly relaxing to watch. I really appreciate now the time and effort that goes into creating these pieces of art after watching your videos. I hope there are many more to come. The effect you get when adding the pearl to colour is just mind blowing.
The finish on the small bowl really bring out the details of the burl. Great job on the big one and you never cease to amaze me on your attention looking for defects and how you work through them.
Sorry that I've not had much time to comment on your videos. I enjoy watching them. Lovely bowls, Jim, despite the issues you had with the bigger bowl. I hope the buyer is happy with their purchase :) Definitely a mixture of purple and blue in the smaller bowl. I really like how it's turned out :)
Boy, this one really made you work for it! They turned out really beautiful regardless. I absolutely love the color. Hoping you have a very Merry Christmas! Take care & God Bless!!!
Really enjoyed watching the video. Never mind the lengthy videos when showing how you dealt with the issues you ran into! Making me want to get my lathe going again! It has been about 6 months since it broke on me.
Being the perfectionist that you are, your pieces are always beautiful works of art. I so enjoy watching you work through the issues that arise...love the tenacity!
Jim - the bowls came out very well in the end. Way to persevere! I empathize with the epoxy issues as I was performing a “touch up” pour on a piece that I thought was ready to turn. On the coring front, I think you are right about sticking with the smaller radius knife set on the shallow bowls. Whenever the post for my knife goes past the midpoint of the bowl I go smaller. It’s counter intuitive but you also end up with a deeper core that way. Keep up the good work.
My favorite color, love it 😊🥰💟💟💜💜 Length of video is perfect 🙂 If you were in Massachusetts, I could give you lots of wood from fallen trees from rain storms since Spring, such as oak, maple, white & black birch, elm. 34:49 the color on this is perfect. The color crystal purple is beautiful 🙂
This was beautiful. When you mix The Resin in the wood it’s kind of cool to look at the shapes. Like kids do with clouds. If you get a chance to go back and view this look for the buffalo head! I kid you not. Vicky
Ernie smith hey jim love your work and i love the fact you have so much knowledge to share. Its always a pleasure to what you create master pieces. I guess 25 years really show.
Love it. I think you should save all the pieces that were not usable and when you get enough, do a clear bowl with all those colored pieces floating in it.
best line ever, "it wouldn't be normal if we weren't dealing with issues"
That’s the way it’s been going lately, haha. Thanks

You're very good hearted to laugh when things go wrong. Professionalism won out and two beautiful bowls resulted. The translucent purple is fabulous.
Sometimes you just need to shake your head and laugh 😂 thanks
Jim, make your videos as long as you like. so much amazing information. No filler, all killer
Awesome, thanks 🙏
AbSoLuTeLy GoRgEoUs!!!!!!!!!! The Mother of Pearl in the light purple was such an awesome choice to highlight the burled wood. Way to go Jim! 😍
Thanks 😊
Absolutely beautiful Jim. Even your “flawed” projects are head and shoulders above anything else out there. Keep pushing the envelope.
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
You must be a patient individual as you maintain your good humour even when you run into obstacles.
I try to have patients, lol. Thanks for watching!

I’ve always wanted to make an electric guitar, but man I’ve got way too much on my plate now, lol. Thanks 🙏
As maddening as it is for you, showing how you fix things is interesting and important.
Thanks for watching
😢that small crack gives it character . Job WELL DONE !!!
Thank you very much!
That bowl is absolutely amazing. Great video
Thanks!
Please don't apologize for long videos! I really appreciate the time and detail in the longer form ones.

Jim, I've always been the person who was the one who said it has to be all wood. You have changed my mind in a big way, thank you! Change is good 👍
Me too, I never imagined that I would be a resin artist but there is just soooooo much you can do with it and the colors are endless, thanks
Love the resin with the burl! Super gorgeous combo!!!!
Thanks 😊
@@SpragueWoodturning you are welcome
Super pretty, flaws and all. Purple, One of my favorite colors! Great job!
Thank you so much!
Jim, we are our worst critics. The bowls are absolutely beautiful. Well done.
Thanks 🙏
So glad your client loved the outcome! I suspect if they hadn't, you'd have had your pick of customers from your viewers. 😊 Thanks again for sharing your process in it's entirety, good and bad. And that crystal purple looks super great! Another beautiful bowl set.

It is very interesting how you problem solve and share your rationale with the views. The wood floating in the epoxy is beautiful.
I really like the suspended pieces too, thanks 😊
They still turned out to be beautiful
Thanks 😊
Both bowls are fantastic! Really appreciate your effort to make it right!!
Thanks 🙏
Islands in the sea. It's a beauty. Great save. Great finish.😎👍👍👍👍👍
Have a great holiday.
You too! Thanks!
I think they are both awesome! The purple was beautiful.

Thanks for walking us through your problem solving thought process. The bowls are beautiful. The small bowl reminds me of a satellite view of a strange world. mystically marvelous.
Yes, most days when it comes to making normal bowls I can almost do it blindfolded. But this resin stuff is a whole other beast! Thanks 🙏🏻
Another gorgeous bowl set Jim. I think I like the little bowl better than the big one. Cool, thanks!
I've been watching your videos with great fascination, and to be honest, your battles make it even more interesting. Perfection is overrated.
My brain need perfection, hahah. Thanks
It looks beautiful. You are certainly a perfectionist.
It’s a curse, Lol. Thanks
Jim: after all the frustration they still turned out very nice. The colours are vivid and the burl pieces look good. But how would I burn all this scrap wood, lol. Merry Christmas to you and the family!
Boy you fought a great fight on this one. I think you should call it a win. Great job
Thanks 😊
Every piece is a lesson. Good training experience. The colour is remarkable. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
As always, another great piece. You strive for perfection and always seem to achieve it. I truly look forward to watching your videos.

I love the purple epoxy and yellow wood together, these two opposed colors make each other pop!
Totally! Thanks
Absolutely breathtaking Jim even with the small crack. Incredible

The bottom looks like 2 continents. Super pretty!!!

This is a good video. I like the ones where you solve the problems you encounter. Even though I get a little frustrated on your behalf sometimes.
That’s understandable, lol. Thanks!
Great craftsmanship brother! God bless! God is good!

Well done Jim. If it wasn't for problems we would never learn and improve our technology .
Agreed, thanks 🙏
Nice bowl. Always enjoy watching your videos.

Thank you very much!
beautiful work as usual. Thanks for the freezer tip about the CA glue storage.

You really fought this bowl to the very end. Beautiful colors in it Jim.
Thanks John, I was certainly a battle!
Gorgeous pieces from a master turner! I enjoyed every minute of the video watching you deal with "issues after issues." Thanks, Jim.
There never seems to be any shortage of them, haha. Thanks 🙏

Wow!!! Beautiful!!! I loved watching your video.

Seeing the way you overcome your problems is highly educational and we all learn from it 😊

Another beautiful bowl set. In regards to the crack, there's the old saying "some days peanuts, some days shells". The crack is a shells day.
Yup! Thanks
Absolutely fantastic. I really enjoy watching you here in Alaska.
Great, thanks for watching!
Beautiful indeed 👌 With each resin pour you learn a little more 🤔
Always learning! Thanks Jim!
