That was deep. Very moving and incredibly moving. Your words and devoted friendship with Brian is straight from the heart. I think Brian saw a lot of his younger self in you Vaughn. That song was remarkable. Hey, maybe when you're ready, you could work on that Echo and Bunnyman project in the future? Thank you for this video. RIP Brian Griffin, you'll never be forgotten ❤
Very Emotional and Moving Vaughn, thanks Again.
- Cameron
I have so much respect for you. Thank you for sharing this with us. Take care ❤️🩹
I remember ending my PhD thesis (2020) on multimodality with Brian's brilliant front cover photograph for 'A Broken Frame', and using it as the perfect example of an image that captures emotion, movement and spirit in the most subtle yet intricate ways. I made a point of doing that, because his work is different, and important. My condolences, and thank you for honouring him in your projects and videos.
As member of the Mode project, a little part Brian will always be in my heart. Thanx VG
Thank you !! VG :-) xx
Whoever he was ❤, at least he was the best man for the job, R.I.P. Brian (you will be missed 😢💔).
You gave Brian the greatest gift a man could wish for....relevance in his time...a new lease of life that in his older wisdom he could actually appreciate...you gave him a career eulogy that he could live through in his final years....without you his final years would have probably been unmourned...you brought him back to life...for the masses....
Simply adorable ❤ precious words to Vaughn and Brian...
Very touching, the best eulogy he could have, the song was a big gesture, what an honor to be able to watch this.
Thank you Carlos. VG 🎹❤️
It was a shocking piece of news when Brian passed away. Great chap, It was an honor to help him to promote his work in Spanish -speaking countries . Great talented photographer! Brilliant person!!
Thank you very much VG for talking about the greatest photographer of all time and whom we all love very much* BRIAN GRIFFIN * 🙏💓💟❤️ We will all miss him every moment. ❗😢😥😭🫂🕯️🕯️❤️❤️
Memento mori.
R.I.P. Brian.
Thank you for sharing Vaughn.
You had me in floods of tears.
Your story resonated with me. I went through a very similar experience re. moving country, sending my wife and young daughter on ahead while finishing a project and then a tragedy occurring in its wake.
I’m sure Brian is very proud of you, young Vaughn.
I will always keep his two magnificent works "BLACK COUNTRY DADA /1969-1990" and the "PRINT DEPECHE MODE" Both with his signature , I would never part with it 📖📝❤️❤️ I discovered BRIAN on UA-cam with you on UA-cam 📺😢❤❤
When George visited Brian on the 21st December, he sent me a few pictures from that night. What a funky apartment, was his first comment. Later, when George finally went back home on his 90-minute car ride, he had so much praise to share over the phone. Regards, Peter
Thank you for sharing the story. If not for your channel I probably would have never heard of Brian Griffin, to be honest. So I am one of those you have "shared" him with. May he rest in peace.
What a lovely tribute, Vaughn. You had me in tears with your stories and that final song. What a legacy have Brian & you left us! Best wishes ❤
Thanks for your kind words! VG 🎹👍❤️😎
Thank you VG for sharing your story and more of Brian's work. I'll always cherish his iconic work and the Mode book and signed poster. Gone, but never forgotten.
Just recently heard of his death. So sad. I remember your live stream dedicated to his DM photos, he answered my questions from the live chat
I'm sorry for your loss.
Bless you and Brian Vaughn, that was beautiful, such a wonderful tribute to your very special friend, RIP Brian, such a brilliant and lovely man ❤❤
🙏 What a wonderful and touching tribute to the late, Great Brian Griffin . ✨ I'm very sorry for your loss.
The cover image for A Broken Frame is, in my opinion, an iconic masterpiece.
Rest In Peace Brian Griffin. 🙏 And God bless you Vaughan.
God bless you too my friend ! Thank you for your kind words! VG :-)
I briefly met Brian when he had his exhibition in London in January 2024 and the following Monday i saw DM live in Manchester i had a lovely photograph of him and myself which i sadly lost a few weeks ago having misplaced my phone. A wonderful tribute VG and RIP BG xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Such a touching tribute, you two were just meant to be. Brian was such a good man and will be missed, thank goodness for him. Bless your heart vaughn, memories are wonderful. Love and hugs to you ❤️❤️❤️
Thank You Marie! I appreciate that and it means a lot! VG :-)
Beautiful tribute to your friend! Thank you for sharing all of that with us!❤️
You're very welcome ! VG
Thank you for sharing so openly such private moments. My thoughts and sympathies to Brian’s family, yourself and to his close circle of friends … I wish we all had a privilege of a friendship so close and deep as the one you had with Brian. Wishing you and your family all the best in your new home in Estonia.
You are very welcome brother and I really appreciate your kind words ! Thank you 🙏 VG🎹
Very empathetic and personal description of a special relationship. I bought two MODE books last year and I'm a big fan of Brian's artwork. Thank you Vaughn for your video and the book!
I really appreciate your kind words and support! Thank you ! VG :-)
I hope you are ok, Vaughn. Brian may have been a workaholic, but I couldn't see him enjoying his retirement in a quiet home in the countryside. It's been a privilege to get to know Brian, his amazing photos and their fascinating stories behind the scene. Thank you, Vaughn.
You made me cry. Brian will be missed. I loved his work and will cherish my Mode book forever 😢
Lovely to hear he’s laid to rest back in Lye. A town he probably longed to leave as a youngster, but, when the time came, it called him home.
Thank you, Vaughn, for sharing your friendship, your warmth, your banter with Brian, with all of us. The picture of you, giving Brian a big kiss, is such a lovely moment to have captured in time. You clearly had a huge affection for him, and he for you, I’m sure.
Rest in peace, Brian.
Thank you for your kind words . VG 🎹❤️
Thank you Vaughn for sharing your story with Mr Griffin. This was a wonderful tribute. He was a beyond talented photographer and an incredible human being. May he rest in peace. ❤
Thank you,..for this...I lived in lye...in a hostel after my mom died and I lost every thing.
Thank you, Vaughn, for your open-hearted clip. It's sad. Really sad! I'm proud of heaving some signatured prints of his wonderful work. Have a good journey, Brian!
You're very welcome! Thank you for your kind words! VG :-)
Cutting to the bone , digging out from the soul. Absolute fair play to you lad, for this outpour of tributes and total recollections.
Wounderfull tribute.😢
Sorry for your loss Vaughan...
My sincere condolences Vaughn. Brian will be missed. You made a good team and I'm sure you learned a lot from your time with him.
It's hard losing the ones you love. Brian did a great amount of work and he obviously was a close friend of yours, Vaughn. This was a worthy tribute. May he rest in peace ❤
Martin Gore needs to see this video, hear the song and think "Ive got to get onto Vaughan's channel and work with this man."
A great guy. I enjoyed spending time with him. A great story teller. I'm sure the moment Brian passed , Barney Bubbles was on the other side waiting for him with a beer in hand. You were the son he never had.
Dear Vaughn, your video touched me so much and I can imagine how much your loss hurts. All my love to you and your family
Thank you my friend ! VG 🎹❤️
Teary eyed in California....thank you for sharing this Vaughn. Hang in there!
Thank you ! VG :-)
Your tribute to Brian moved me to tears, and your musical homage to him was absolutely beautiful.
Thank you ! VG :-)
Brian Griffin such beautiful soul, God speed, RIP Brian 🩷
Edit: Thank you Vaughn for making this beautiful video 🩷
Something that truly stood out to me about Brian was his remarkable capacity for self-critique. He possessed the ability to acknowledge when a project was executed well from both a visual and technical standpoint, even if the initial idea was spontaneous-much like the cover of "Speak and Spell," which, despite its simplicity, exuded honesty and authenticity (it could have been invented any story and yet it was honest). He didn't shy away from admitting when a project, such as Black Celebration, fell short of expectations without resorting to excuses or technical jargon. This level of honesty and self-awareness significantly bolstered his credibility when discussing his successful endeavors (A Broken Frame, Construction Time Again, Some Great Reward, everything for Echo & the Bunnymen, etc). In my view, this genuine self-criticism is where true genius lies, as it allows one to recognize and appreciate the brilliance in their best work. Rest in Peace and Thanx for this video Vaughn
He will live in your head Vaughn. He will still talk to you
Thank you my friend ! That means a lot! VG :-)
Very moving my friend I cried ❤
All the best. Was a great photographer.
Very touching, very well said. RIP Young Brian
Thank you for this raw, personal video. I haven't been very active on social media recently, so I didn't know about Brian's passing until this video. I was shocked and sad, but your friendship and feelings of loss come across so strongly. I'm thankful to you for introducing him to us and letting us get to know him, his career and life story. My favourite DM cover art is 'Some Great Reward', and I could relate to Brian, having grown up in the Midlands amid an industrial landscape that's long gone. He seemed like such a warm, down to earth guy. Like you, I could've imagined him still being around in his 90s. I'm just glad that his passing seemed to be peaceful and that we got to know him through your channel. 💔
Thank you for your kind and sincere words!! VG ;-)
We love you ! We love you so much!!!!!!!
Love you straight back my friend ! VG :-)
what a journey you had with brian, vaughn. very nice anecdotes, well told and thank you for sharing. It was such a shock upon hearing of his passing and I am indepted to my son for allowing me to meet you all at the pub and to you vaughn for making it all happen. xx
No words. RIP Brian. Hug you Vaughn. :(
Thank you my friend ! VG :-)
Sorry you lost your friend. Beautiful story Vaughn.
Thank you my friend ! VG xx
Beautiful tribute, Vaughn. Thanks for sharing. RIP to Brian
Thanks for sharing. As I'm listening to you play, a gentle rain is beginning to fall down here in Northern California.
Thanks for sharing your story. Everyone grieves differently and I found from experiences of loved ones passing that it was always best to surround yourself with friends and family and talk about it. You did an amazing job here creating your tribute to an amazing man whom I wish I would’ve met in person but grateful to have spoke to him on Zoom when you and Brian were on the DM Global Drink Chats. I hope one day I can meet you Vaughn, in person, even though I’ve also met you only on Zoom on the DM Global Drink n Chats which included a fun time playing DM Jeopardy with you. I’m also grateful to have bought one of the Brian Griffin DM books as well. I really liked your very heartfelt tribute song to Brian, very well done. Thank you for all you’ve done and introducing an amazing soul into our lives, grateful to have met you both at least on Zoom.
Thank you Vaughn for this beautiful tribute paid to Brian. I'm sure he'll keep on putting stones on your path to guide you💫
Thank you so much! I appreciate your kindness! VG :-)
Great handyman story
Quite long then....I feel your loss though.
Thank you Vaughn. I feel very lucky to have talk to him and you made it happen.
Thank you for sharing this heartfelt video and song. I am so sorry for your loss and the loss of this talented artist.
@Vaughn As you know I am in the area where Brian's pub is in Surrey, I see his timeless works on the walls ... It is all heartbreaking 😞

Vaughn it’s very touching and meaningful that you were friends and communicated with him. He will be forever in our memory R.I.P. Brian.
I had the pleasure of meeting both yourself and Brian at your first get together, at the art gallery showing A Broken Frame and all (well some) of Brian’s other work. Such a nice gentleman. We miss all the interactions. God Bless.
Thank you for this ❤
You're welcome 😊
So moving, so touching💔 Tears came to my eyes.
Thank you for sharing, Vaughn. So sorry for your loss.
RIP Mr Brian Griffin. You'll stay in our hearts forever 🖤
Condolences to you. Thank you for sharing about him and your memories. I am shoking up as you recollect your relationship. Hugs to you.
Thank you so much ! VG
I’m a newer subscriber to your amazing channel but I can tell how much Mr. Griffin meant to you. I’m 52 years old which means I was 16 when I saw Depeche Mode in 1988 in Pasadena California. They were then and now my favorite band and I grew with their music. From a young teenager to the man I am today, DM has always been there for me. Their music following me to enjoy everything life has to give. A broken frame was always my favorite photograph and you brought the print alive with your beautiful song. Mr. Griffin was lucky to have a friend like you and he would be extremely proud
Good decision to move to 🇪🇪 Estonia. Baltic countries are the best. My wife is Lithuanian ❤
Thank you so much for letting us meet Brian and spreading his great work that meant so much to so many, to the masses 🙏🏻🌹🖤
Vaughn, like I said in the chat, Griffin was not just a great photographer to you. He was your friend. I know it's tough.
Thank you Vaughn for sharing this with us!
My pleasure! VG
Beautiful tribute Vaughn!!!!!!!!!
Such endearing and lovely connection with Brian that you shared in this tribute. Brian treated you like a true friend on the level of a Parent! RIP Brian Griffin and I know you were blessed by your friendship. My signed Broken Frame photograph that he said was a true blessing from God with the raining sky clearing up, that I purchased through your site will have even greater meaning after all the videos you made with him and ability to help make a great retrospective and documentary of his art and work. Live, Love and Learn.
Thank you so much Vaughn for sharing this with us. All the love to Brian and you ❤
Never knew he was from Lye wow.
