  • It has been two years since COVID-19 brought the world to its knees, but as the world begins to bounce back, healthcare workers say they are continuing to battle the effects of the pandemic, including stress, burnout and PTSD. Their mental health has only been worsened by the onslaught of violence from patients amid misinformation and disinformation. “We as providers need to understand our boundaries,” said Dina Velocci, CRNA. Inside Edition Digital’s Johanna Li has more.

I came close to dying from covid in January. I can't thank the doctors and nurses enough for saving my life while I was on a ventilator in the icu. Especially the nurses. During the month I was hospitalized, I have never witnessed harder working people. Today is actually my 52nd birthday and I'm so thankful that I can celebrate it but, at the same time, I am thinking of those who didn't have the same outcome as me. 🙏

Sorry for your loss. But they didn’t just randomly start seeing people die from Covid. They’ve witnessed much, much worse than this. If they didn’t want to see this, they should’ve chosen a different profession 🤷🏼‍♀️ no one deserves extra praise for doing their job. Respect, sure. Raises, probably. But I’m not believing someone has ptsd from a job they’ve already been doing. Now, the new comers… it was likely a shock but just an introduction to a lifelong career choice that will continue to see death, abuse, and the most awful of awful… even after Covid is long gone.

The worst part that the video didn't mention, patients who died alone because the family wasn't allowed to visit because of covid. My grandmother's best friend died alone while her kids was arguing with hospital staff to see her. This happened in Miami at Jackson Memorial Hospital. I'm a nurse at a different hospital and my hospital allows visitation for patients who were dying, we gave that family PPE's to say their final goodbyes.

At the end of each shift, as exhausted as I was, I had to remind myself that I had the privilege of going home, they didn't. And as for the anti-vaxxers, the misguided/delusional, and those choosing to take their misplaced anger out on us, well, let's just say I never lost any sleep over them.

NOPE! One of my female friends got vaccinated about a year ago. She's still suffering from a serious side effect of it. Another one of my friends got vaccinated, then she ended up with COVID.
    I'm vaccine-free and COVID-free.

@@absatwell8163 I've seen evidence of a seat belt being unfastened. I've seen evidence of a smoke detector being detached. But I've never seen evidence of a vaccine being removed from the bloodstream of a human body. Will you please show everyone evidence of a vaccine being removed from the bloodstream of a human body? You know? Especially since this video is encouraging people to receive a specific vaccine and has no mention of a seat belt nor smoke detector.

I respect these doctors and nurses for working hard during the pandemic, but feel very bad for them at the same time. I never wanted to get into that field no matter how much it paid because of the contagiousness of diseases and death, and that was well before covid started plaguing the U.S
